“It’s just you’re the first person I’ve had a real connection to in so long.”
London is the princess of Alden, and with three older brothers she has never had to worry about really being a contender for the throne and she’s more than happy with that. London just wants to live her own life and make a living as a photojournalist. But when their family is made aware of an obscure law that if an heir must be conceived before the youngest child in the royal line turns 30, the throne goes to the next in line, things are thrown into a tailspin. London has just turned 29, which means that they have year to try to do something about the law or risk losing the throne. With help from her brothers, London leaves for her friends place in Paris so that she can’t be used while negotiations are taking place. Now London is in danger because it turns out that someone is trying to kill her. Thankfully Kannon runs across London and takes it upon himself to protect her, but Kannon has demons from his past that are making things difficult. Can they figure out who is after London in time? And can Kannon overcome his past in time so that he doesn’t lose London, and ruin his future?
I’ve read books by both Carrie Ann Ryan and Nana Malone and loved them so I couldn’t wait to see what they would do with this book, and they did not disappoint me! London is such a badass heroine and I loved her so much. She may have been privileged in many aspects of her life but she’s not a pampered and spoiled princess. She doesn’t really even want to be a princess, and when her entire life turns upside and becomes in danger, she doesn’t just check out. She wants to help figure out who is trying to kill her and help her brothers figure out a solution to their problem. Not to mention the way that she handles Kannon. She doesn’t let him get away with his bullshit. She calls him on it when he pushes her away because he’s scared and makes him own up to it.
Speaking of Kannon, this man has so many demons in his past that you can’t help but hurt for him. I understand why he’s so closed off and not willing to get close to anyone, but I still wanted to smack him multiple times for the he was acting and the things that he said to London. All of that aside, I still loved Kannon, and was thrilled when he finally pulled his head out of his ass.
This was a quick and fun read that I really enjoyed and I can’t wait to see what’s next for London’s brothers. And the teaser epilogue at the end of the book is making me jones for Sparrow and Breck’s story, because ooooohhhh, that sounds like it’s going to be a doozy.
“I’d known this woman for three days, and she already had a claim on a piece of me. I didn’t like. I didn’t want it. But it was the truth. And there was no point trying to hide it.”
The start to this new series is absolutely amazing! Carrie Ann Ryan is an instant read for me and seeing she teamed up with Nana Malone, I could not start this book fast enough.
London is a Princess who wants to do more with her life. She wants to be a photojournalist but her brothers are against it. When she’s told of an old age rule that threatens her life, she’s off to Paris to stay with a friend until the rule can be amended. However, her life’s in danger no matter where she is. This is where she meets Kannon, a personal security consultant. He saves her life and the two are thrown together while they try to figure out who’s after her.
This book was such a surprise with the plot line. I loved that it was a romantic suspense and it kept me turning the pages until I found out who was after London. And it was such a surprise! I loved London and Kannon’s chemistry. It was off the charts hot and super sweet at the same time. I also loved her brothers and can’t wait for their stories.
Royal Line is the story of a modern Princess and her “knight”. London is not your typical princess and she will try to change her destiny as a pretty figurine of the crown, but when things turn for the worse and she is forced to flee things will get very interesting. Kannon runs his own security firm and is tired of paying favors and taking care of debutants with too much money and not too much sense. After completing his latest assignment he feels free to explore the country not knowing that his future is about to change. Running away from danger will bring them close and will help them heal from past wounds and strengthen each other. A royal line might be in danger, but there will be more at stake than what they are willing to give.
This amazing story is filled with secrets, conspiracies, lots of action, danger, and the steam will rise from the story. These ladies are an explosive combination on the page and the Tattered Royals series promises to be one that you will not want to miss & it is guarantee to make you fall in love with it since the very first chapter. Can’t wait to read more about Roman, Wilder & Breck.
In this first book of this new series was a great start. This was an action packed, fast paced steamy read that I enjoyed from page one. In this first book we meet London, the Princess of Alden, a strong independent woman that desires to have independence from her royal title and responsibilities to turn her passion into a true career of being a photo journalist. While fleeing from an archaic rule regarding the next generation in her country, London is run off the road and then she meets Kannon, a security specialist who has a troubled past happens upon her crash. While being a good Samaritan, Kannon and London are shot at. After getting away from the attackers, Kannon takes on the role of protector and contacts her family and takes on her security protection. The threats continue until she is abducted by her aunt, a family member that she thought that she could trust, in an attempt to change the rule of the kingdom to her son.
While this book had a lot going on, in the ‘slow’ times, the pair acted upon their attraction while Kannon fought the demons of his past. The chemistry between the pair was off the charts and at times palpable. I enjoyed watching these characters grow and discover that they indeed have feelings for one another but are afraid to get their HEA. Once the pair figure things out I was happy with their HEA.
Overall, this was a great book that I enjoyed from the start. I would recommend this book to others.
What do you do when you turn twenty-nine and find out that the world as you know can possibly change in a year if you or your siblings don’t bare an heir to the thrown? You run of course…LOL
The story line of a Princess and her Security/Bodyguard falling in love is not one I have read about often but this has a few major differences. First off Kannon runs a security company but he is not her bodyguard and second is the major plot twist to the story…who is trying to kill the Princess.
Kannon and London have an instant attraction but as bullets fly around them you wonder how they are going to make it through let alone begin a relationship. This was a great start to a new series collaboration between Carrie Ann Ryan and Nana Malone. I have read a TON of Carrie Ann’s books but I haven’t read any of Nana’s yet and for me to say that I couldn’t tell who wrote what part will tell you what a wonderful collaboration this is.
I did receive an ARC copy of this book but since Real Life got in the way I wasn’t able to read it before the release date so I purchased the audiobook version once it was available and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lacy Laurel and Graham Halstead did a wonderful job bringing this story to life.
If you enjoy Steamy Contemporary Romances, or Royalty Romances I would recommend this book to you.
Happy Reading!!!
“For the first time in a long time, I felt seen. I felt alive.”
A Fast-paced Suspenseful Bodyguard “Royal” Romance with a Old (Bullshit) Law surfacing, lovely Dreams, Flirts, Heat & Action, Past Pains, Push/Pull, Grovelling (Ha!), (Insta?) Love & Hard-fought HEA.
I Adored Kannon & London, they had some fun quirks! The Friends & Fam were awesome, especially her protective elder brothers! DEVOURED this within 5hrs. My 1st book by Nana & Carrie, I’ll so try more!
London Waterford; Strong-willed, Passionate, Kind, European; is the Princess of Alden. She’s 29 & has 3 elder brothers (Like’em!), the eldest is king after losing their parents young, & their aunt has been like a parental figure. Lon loves photography & has made a career of it, but being Royal is restricting.
Kannon; Demanding, Protective, Caring, American; owns Kannon security, a firm which does Bodyguard jobs nowadays. He’d lost his pregnant wife to a tragedy which he feels was his fault & stops himself from getting close to anyone else romantically now. His team is his fun family. They’re currently in Paris on a “Babysitting” Job.
“If there is no heir to our generation by the time the youngest of us reaches thirty, the entire family line loses the throne, and it goes to the next in line.”
Being a royal was already interfering with her career & when they find about the above law on her 29th birthday, well shit, she’s not gonna be a baby-maker. Her bros start to research a solution, but in the meantime, sends her away to be safe (Btw, she’d almost ran away yester-night due to her job). She was on way to her actress bestie Rian’s home in Paris, but spiralled into trouble. Gladly, With his job complete, Kannon was close & Saved her! But…Dangers are escalating fast. Their Chemistry high, Bantering hilarious, This Adventure was just starting.
~Dream & Try, Birthday, The Rule, Run, Job hazards, Flirt & Action, Safety together, Naked & Kisses, Push & Pull, Dangers, The Mansion, Past Hurt, Want & Sparks, Sexy times, Distance, Girls talk, Talk it out…
Her family appointed Kannon & his team as her Bodyguards here, The investigation is on. Being 24/7 together, lines were cross, Getting to know eachother, Feelings growing… But Kannon didn’t want to make mistakes as her life’s on line, which caused some serious push & pull. Attacks don’t stop for Relationship tensions though! Then Cue the surprising Final showdown & finding the villain (Fuck, ooh, Why didn’t I see that coming?!)! These scary scenes does led to them Realising their feelings so I’m glad…But can a Royal & a Commoner be together?
~Shock, Kidnapped, The Rescue, I love yous, Let go , Being sad, Bro visits & fun threats, Back together, Gonna grovel *Yup!*, Baby surprise…
Oh yes they can be together…If Kan hadn’t let her go when she wanted him to fight for “Us”. Due to REASONS. Her in Alden, Him back in Los Angeles, Both sad. But her brothers’ visit made Kan realise his mistake. One thing’s sure, she’ll make him grovel hard! But as long as Lon+Kan are together, they’ll get through every trouble, even finding a answer to the Royal rule. Cue HEA! The ending’s heartwarming & the Epilogue’s fun! Omg, so excited for Beck & Sparrow’s book!
P.S. This is the 2nd series I’ve read where an Old “Royal Law” surfaced (due to bad underlying motives!) & caused chaos, It’s a fun premise for sure!
I’ve read so much more angsty romance, that I’m pretty much immune to Push/Pull by now, but it can be annoying to some… But doesn’t that make the book special?
Tattered Royals
Wow, Royal Line the first book in the Tattered Royals series was sooooo not what I was expecting…..it was BETTER
London is the Princess of Alden who is a photojournalist on the side. At her birthday party there is an announcement by her Aunt to say that she’s just found out about an archaic rule, where one of her brothers or herself have to produce an heir to keep the throne of their countryLondon’s brother send her on the run to Paris where she meets Kannon in an unusual way and so begins the love story of this couple
A wonderful story and I cannot wait to read the next one
RATING: .5
STEAM:
Holy moly, this was a great read that did not let up on the action and romance once it got going.
London Waterford is the baby and the only girl of the Alden Royal Family. Their parents died in a car accident, leaving her eldest brother Roman in charge of the siblings and the country of Alden.
But London wants naught to do with royal duties. She wants to explore the world and document it through her photography. She has managed to secure a position as a freelancer, but getting to the job site is her biggest challenge. Fate throws an even bigger monkey wrench into her plans when her family uncovers an archaic law that requires she or one of her siblings to have a child before the last sibling turns 30. Otherwise, they forfeit their claim to the throne.
The foundation of the story is why I left off a half-star. I did not understand why it had to fall on London to fulfill the archaic law when all of the siblings did not have any serious relationships. It also was not clear until later on as to why she was being sent outside of the country for her safety, so her escape to Paris seemed like a plot device to having her meet Kannon.
Kannon owns a highly sought-after security firm. Wrapping up a babysitting job in Paris Fashion Week, he is on his way to his hotel when he has to rescue London who was trapped in a ravine. Realizing that she was in far more trouble than she let on or actually realize.
Once these two finally cross paths, the book does get better. The action was well-balanced with the spicy, tension-filled romance, and boy, did these two bring the heat. I was not surprised with the back-and-forth of emotions between these two, because Carrie Ann Ryan and Nana Malone did an incredible job in creating two emotionally dented but relatable characters that I understood why they were so scared to love.
Royal Line is the first book in the Tattered Royals series and it can be read as a standalone. However, I cannot wait to witness the downfall of London’s brothers when it comes to Cupid’s grasp.
This story is sexy, suspenseful and action packed. London and Kannon have great chemistry. Their relationship is steamy with a lot of push and pull and some great witty banter. The story line was well written with plenty of interesting characters. I loved London’s brothers, I can’t wait to read their stories. I really enjoyed this royal romance and look forward to the rest of the series.
London is a princess that is tired of her overprotective brothers and her life that is so restricting. She’s frustrated that her royal obligations are hindering her professional life and she is just DONE by that point. Her plans to take a job are thwarted by her brother. Crazy circumstances lead Kannon, who is a security specialist, to cross her path and from then on their lives before entwined. I enjoyed their verbal sparring which just amp up the heat factor with that enemies to lovers vibe. I loved all of London’s brothers and Kannon’s team that we’ve met. I definitely want to know more about them all!
Royal Line by Carrie Ann Ryan and Nana Malone is the First book in the Tattered Royals. This is the story of Princess London Waterford of Alden and Kannon Adams. London is the youngest of her siblings and just wants to be a normal person. When she goes on an adventure she ends up being saved by Kannon who we learn is a security consultant / body guard. Kannon is a grumpy man who just is trying to survive each day and try not to get haunted by the past. London is a carefree women who gives light to his world. This was a really good read and I can’t wait to read more from this series and authors.
Princess London Waterford of Alden wants nothing to do with the Duke that she is supposed to marry so her brothers sneak her out of the country in order to give her some time away.
Kannon Adams runs a security business but when he finds a car down an embankement he stops to help, not knowing that it is his next client.
Now Kannon and London must deal with their attraction to each other while someone is after London and Kannon struggles to keep everything professional.
Can Kannon keep London safe while fighting the demons of his own past?
This is another great book and I am excited to see more books in this series.
I thought London was a great character who was trying to live her own life but knew she was tied into what was going on at home and now had someone trying to kill her. She loved her photography and how she could do it without anyone knowing who she was but she was unable to take assignments when someone was after her.
Kannon was going to do everything he could to keep London safe but he also couldn’t deny how attracted he was to her. That being said he had his own past with some difficult things and he didn’t want someone else to get hurt because of him. At a certain point though I wondered if a certain event and foreshadowing was leading to what I thought it was.
I wasn’t 100% surprised with who was behind everything as it made me wonder right from the beginning with some of the background. I got why they were doing what they were and I’m sure that isn’t the first time power has led a person to do things out of character.
I was so happy when Kannon figured out what was going on and was able to get to London in time but then I was so mad at him for what happened on the plane although I knew he blamed himself for London getting hurt.
I knew what was happening with London and was so happy that Kannon finally came to his senses!! It made me so happy!
The very end with Sparrow and Breck was intriguing and I know that there is more to come!!
‘Royal Line’ is book one in the co-authored series Tattered Royals by Carrie Ann Ryan and Nana Malone.
I love reading books written by Carrie Ann Ryan and this was no exception, Ms Ryan and Nana Malone work well together.
Kannon Adams runs his own Security firm, with a dark past he finds his job to protect his all consuming need. When he comes across London Waterford is trouble his alpha tendencies to protect kick in, resulting in him being hired to protect her. Spending everyday together has them feeling things between each other, but can a Royal Princess and a Commoner be together, especially when one is suppose to produce an Heir before her next birthday.
This book is a fast paced romance, filled with lots of push & pull, suspense, action, banter, steam and groveling. A great start to a new series and can’t wait to see what’s next in the series.
London and Kannon wow what a pair I thought I knew how this story would go but omg was I wrong. The action in this new series was on par with all of the other series by Ms. Ryan and I loved every minute of it. Clearly, this will be another amazing series by Ms. Ryan and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
A princess on the run, and a security specialist who just happens to be at the right place to rescue her.
This was a really enjoyable read. There was drama and action, HOT sexy scenes, and dialogue that made me laugh, scream and cry.
The interaction between London and Kannon was fun to read – there was plenty of sexual chemistry, and the fear and challenge of the situation.
Royals, Suspense, Enemies to Lovers…So Much Numminess!!
Nana & Carrie Ann have so given me some of my favorite things!!
•Royalty!! I flippin adore royal romances!!
•Convoluted, archaic rules that our fiery heroine wants nada to do with.
•A little danger!
•A little mystery!!
•A hot hot hot stranger who comes along at just the right time.
•Some forced proximity with said hot stranger
•Don’t forget the enemies to lovers vibe!
Seriously, so many parts of this book made me squee with joy!
Oh and we can’t forget that our heroine is smart, is way more than just a pampered princess, independent, determined, confident, and full of sass!! And she meets her match in an unexpected package.
Our hero is a growly, brooding, gorgeous, protective (which helps since he runs a security biz), responsible, alpha, tortured, and surprisingly sweet guy who simply can’t resist our feisty princess.
Now all he has to do is keep her safe from her mystery assailant and, in his misguided mind, himself.
Things don’t work out quite the way he wants. In part because the princess has a mind of her own.
We also meet London’s brothers, the princes, Breck & Wilder, and king, Roman, as well as Kannon’s crew…specifically Sparrow and Olly for most of this job.
Can’t wait for the next book!!
Royal Line by Carrie Ann Ryan and Nana Malone is the first in a new venture by these phenomenal authors in the A Tattered Royals series. And it had me HOOKED and left me SHOOKETH!
London and Kannon are EVERYTHING!
London is feisty, fiery, passionate, knows what she wants, struggles with the dichotomy of duty and freedom, and loves her family, even as they drive her crazy.
Kannon is grumpy, growly, dedicated, confident, and has some baggage he lugs around which has shaped him and influences his interactions and general outlook on life. And he was not expecting London, and he doesn’t know how to handle her and what she makes him feel.
She’s a spitfire and full of sass. He’s hard and edgy and driven and a curmudgeon. Their CHEMISTRY sizzles and simmers. The will they won’t they, the push and pull, all of it tugs on your heartstrings and has you on tenterhooks. There’s action, there’s drama, there’s intrigue, there’s mystery, there’s betrayal, there’s family, there’s love, and so much more! So, how long do I have to wait for the next book?! Because I NEED it!
P. S. Kate is adorable! And London’s brothers…I am INTRIGUED! Their individual personalities shined in each interaction, and I CANNOT WAIT to read about them! And Sparrow and Rian are EPIC! I can see the groundwork for the future couples, and I am here for THIS!
When the woman of your dreams suddenly shows up, but you discover that she is a Princess, what is a man to do? And she needs to have a baby within the next year or her brother loses the crown? You help protect her, love her, but let her go when she is safe, or at least that is what Kannon thinks he needs to do. Kannon and London were great together in this book and I thought I figured out who was trying to harm London, but I kept second-guessing myself throughout the book. I am curious to see what Roman bargained with in order to release London from her royal duties.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
Loved this action packed, sweetly sexy, emotionally thrilling adventure filled with exciting and engaging charters, heart racing twists and exciting passion. A highly entertaining edge of your seat journey from beginning to end.
