This is the fourth book in the Dating Games Series from T.K Leigh. You can however read this book as a standalone. This is the story of Nora who has lost her fiance six years ago in a car crash. She then married a man years later and walked in on him with another man. To say that Nora needed to get away for a while and rediscover herself and reevaluate is a understatement. I loved Nora. She seemed like she could just be one of your very best friends and I liked that she was an older character though thirty isn’t really old. You just don’t read a lot of books about thirty year old women. I loved taking this journey with Nora too. She is very entertaining and has the worst luck with men. Sounds about like my life. It has also been quiet a while since I read a book about a road trip and that is what I loved the most about this book. It takes you on an adventure while getting to know everyone and I loved that she chose Route 66 for this adventure and the place that she scattered her fiances ashes and that she consider this an adventure with him. Then when car problems cause her to meet Anderson I fell in love with him too. These two have an adventure when she decides to give him a ride. These are two souls that have been through way more than they should have ever been through and they have this most amazing chemistry that just might lead them to finding the loves of their lives. You do not want to miss this book. It was amazing. It has all the feels and angst. A older couple of people and some amazing chemistry that you can feel in your very heart.
This is a very inspiring tale of 2 closed off people, who have been dealt with some tragedy & an unknown future. While polarly different they compliment the other in their journey along Route 66.
Nora, recovering from a divorce embarks on a trip to honour her long deceased partner Will. She meets Anderson in a bar& due to car trouble she joins him on their epic adventure. Of course there’s more to Anderson than he lets on but bit by bit their stories unfold.
At times there’s humour then there’s the reality, especially when he reveals himself to her, but there is a bittersweet moment when their pasts collide. Well it was quite a twist!
You can’t help but feel for this couple. I loved their banter, chemistry & how they helped each other through some difficult times.
I will however point out their story continues in Tangled Games. It sounds quite intriguing.
“Every little girl dreams of being a princess. But this is no fairytale”.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. 4.5*
This has to be my FAVORITE book of this series!! The most emotional, heart felt, gut wrenching, and feel good atory.
For Nora it was the last wish that she was finally giving to her first love. A trip on Route 66. The final good bye to her past love. A way to finally start fresh and start finally truly living again.
What she didn’t expect was a sexy yet annoying Britsh interruption.
Anderson just needed to get away. After getting the devastating news he wanted one last freedom ride alone before he had to go back and face the horrid of the life he knew he was headed towards.
That is until he saw her on a roadside dinner. It was if they knew each other, yet never really meet.
Unexpected consequences happen which land these two traveling together. On the road with hundreds a miles ahead of them lead to instead friendship and somewhere between the corny road stop attractions, hotel experiences, and diner meals their attraction to each other is something they can no longer ingore.
But just like most good times they eventually come to an end and with their trip coming to an end they both realize that neither want to end what they have started to built however, a connection in their past can lead to a devastion that neither one may have a fix for.
This story is so powerful. These two had me laughing, to crying, to cheering them on and back to wanting more.
This is a must read!!!
Royal Games by T.K. Leigh. I thought story plot and characters were good. It is well written and entertaining. The author does a great job keeping you vested in the story and outcome. This book is filled with drama, personal conflicts, and passion. I would recommend this book and author to others. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Who knew reading and falling in love with Route 66 would be so much fun. Anderson and Nora are this amazing funny and great couple. Each page brought something new to the table. I couldnt get enougg of this story. Road tripping sounds so much fun. For sure makes me want to read it again and again and even take my own Route 66 trip. The writing TK has done is outatanding once again, she knows how to write and grab a reading from page 1. MUST READ.
I’ve been ready to read this story since the end of book three in this series. When we last see Nora she announced that she caught her husband in bed with a man. At the start of this book, we see Nora dealing with the aftermath of her divorce. She has unresolved heartache and really needed to take some time to deal with it. While Anderson is dealing with his own heartache and trouble. This story was wonderful and I loved it. I fell for their story and rooted for their healing and happily ever after.
Royal Games is a great book filled with angst and wonderful moments. T.K. Leigh give us another amazing romance that pulls at your heart and tugs on every emotion. This is a wonderful series that is a must read.
I love everything TK writes. Anderson and Nora brought all the feels. Reading this book made me want to take a drive on Route 66 and I hate car rides. Laughs, heartache, tears and joy wrapped up in a beautifully written story.
4.5 stars
Did someone say road trip? Ah yes it was TK Leigh’s brilliant way of ending this series. Royal Games is Nora’s story and what am emotionally charged story it was.
Nora coming off a divorce gives her the final push she needs to take time to heal from her past and finally take the trip she and Garrison had talked about before he passed away unexpectedly.
Add a sexy Brit to the mix, well hello Anderson. Seems almost like fate that their paths have crossed. It’s Anderson’s last that too puts him on Route 66.
In true writing fashion, TK Leigh takes us on a journey filled with twists and turns and a continuous emotional roller coaster.
Sad to see this series come to an end but at the same time this book does this series justice.
A road trip along Route 66… an adventure for all of us. This book took us along for the ride as we learned of Nora’s past… as well learning to be in the present. This is one of my favorites of the series!
Anders… I don’t even have words to describe Anderson North, other than perfect!
All in all I couldn’t get enough of this story or the emotions that T.k. Leigh always seems to pull from me with each and everyone of her books.
This book destroyed me in the best way, Nora and Anderson, they meet under a very difficult circumstance, she was in a very different place, yet Anderson found her and their story developed, it was a fantastic read, I absolutely loved every page, it hooked me from the very beginning and never let me go until the last page. This is the 4th book of the series but can be read as standalone, although you will definitely want to read the rest. Be ready to get on a rollercoaster of emotions and barely make it. A brilliant 5 star read!
Like expected this book was amazing this author never lets me down. Love the journey of moving on in life and letting go of the past so excited the story will continue
Read it! Read it! Read it!!
This poignant bittersweet romance was so easy to get into and difficult to put down.
Nora is just getting over her recent divorce when her friends convince her that the best way to move on with her life was by going on a “divorcation!”
What ensues is an exciting, eye opening journey down Rt. 66 with plenty of twists and turns that she never imagined.
As she starts out her journey she meets a mysterious beautiful man name Anderson.
This story was so well written and the plot so well executed I felt I was a passenger with Nora.
The characters were flawlessly developed and their dialogue and banter was simply delicious.
As they get to know one another they make new discoveries about themselves. This made their story so swoony, heartfelt and just feel good.
Would you go on road trip across the country alone?
What would you do if you met someone along the way?
What happens during this trip between Norah and Anderson was simply magical.
You’ll just have to read it and find out.
Told in dual POV, which I love, this book can certainly be read and enjoyed as a standalone, although there are characters from prior books who visit and let us know what they’re doing.
Overall Grade:
You know when you read an author for the first time and you realize quickly that you’ve been missing out on their voice. Well, this happened to me this week, as I was reading T.K. Leigh’s Royal Games. This is the fifth book in her Dating Games series, and I know I’ve missed out…until now.
There is so much I want to say about Royal Games. Let me begin with the general message of this book because it’s an important one. Through the story of Anderson North aka Prince Gabriel and Nora, Leigh articulates a poignant message about loss. At its surface, loss is presented as literal death. There is quite a bit of death in this book, to be honest, and it’s those deaths that wreak havoc for Leigh’s hero and heroine. Both of them are living their lives in the past, instead of the present, and Leigh reminds us through their adventure together that living in the present is the only part of life we can control. Besides loss through death, Leigh intensifies this message through the loss of a marriage, the loss of health, and the loss of expectations (Nora’s relationship with her mother). Loss covers this book, and in the end, we are reminded that we can only live in the here and now, controlling our mindsets especially when outside influences cannot be contained. Leigh’s expression of loss showcases her storytelling, and this is what inspired goosebumps as I was engaged in Nora and Anderson’s story.
Even more, I loved this book for the emotions it created in me. I have a huge confession to make in Leigh’s review. I’m a cheater. As a reader, I oftentimes cannot suspend my disbelief, and “good” writers invest me easily in their stories. Accordingly, I have to oftentimes read the end to allay my anxiety because I “feel” for the writer’s characters. When a writer crafts believability that develops my feelings for their characters, I know the writing is strong. For Leigh’s book, I was so invested that I had to read a few chapters out of order. There are secrets in this book, and as it came close to the revelation of those secrets, my emotions felt out of control. This is a nod to Leigh’s writing prowess. I felt a part of Anderson and Nora’s adventure, and each chapter pulled me deeper and deeper into it that I could empathize with their emotions, creating a profound and oftentimes fraught reading experience. There will be another book for Nora and Anderson, and I both relish and worry about it because I need the happiest of happy endings for these two.
Lastly, Leigh’s style grabs bits of your soul. She has written exquisite moments in Royal Games that underscore the depth of her message. Time and time again, my heart would pound and butterflies flew in my stomach because Leigh’s prose enthralled me. The deeper the story ventures, the more profound her style. There are lessons about life to be learned through Leigh’s words. If nothing else, people should read this book for the beauty of her writing.
I could tell you more about the extravagance of characterization in Royal Games. Anderson and Nora’s experiences are the foundation of T.K. Leigh’s story. Yet, it’s a culmination of parts that make the beauty of the whole of this book. When we are surrounded right now with so much loss, there is a lesson that we can learn through Leigh’s Royal Games, and it’s about temporality and the need to be our best “right now.” Not in living in the past, not pushing for the future, but making choices right now that can change ourselves, change people, and change the world. If you look deep enough into T.K. Leigh’s newest offering, you find that message, and hopefully, it touches your soul, as it touched mine. I began this review acknowledging that, until this past week, T.K. Leigh’s storytelling had missed my TBR. Needless to say, that stops now.
After losing her fiancé years ago in a car crash and remarrying a man years later only to find out he was gay, she needed a vacation where she could put the past behind her. So, she traveled Route 66 and spread Hunter’s ashes as one last adventure with her first love. When she crossed paths with Anderson, the real story begins. The tragedy that they both experienced is heartbreaking but everything happens for a reason. To be honest this book wasn’t my favorite from this author because it seemed a little cliché.
I was drawn into this story immediately. This series is one of my all time favorites and you can’t help but feel strong connections with these characters. This was the most emotional book for me. My heart hurt for these characters and the potential relationship. Finding a connection to someone after losing so much makes you cautious. Finding out that there was a connection long before you met could destroy everything. I don’t want to give anything away but to simply say the world that TK has created is beautiful and broken all at the same time. Her writing is perfection and you need to get your hands on this book.
Wow, oh wow!!
This book is…wow.
It is emotional and bittersweet. It pulls your heartstrings multiple times and puts tears in your eyes.
Nora is the last of the friends we have met throughout T.K. Leigh’s Dating Games Series. I personally thought everything was fine with her during the series…that is until Dangerous Games and we find out about her little…predicament?
She has been through so much. So many things I didn’t know about and as you read more and more developments come into view that makes her such a strong heroine in my eyes.
She’s one of my new favorites and I won’t forget her anytime soon.
Anderson is so sexy. He has his own story to tell. I won’t bore you with my summary except to say…welcome to my favorite book boyfriend list Anderson!
I can’t wait to find out what else T.K. Leigh’s brilliant mind will be giving us next.
All. The. Stars.
Royal Games is the INCREDIBLE latest stand-alone novel by TK Leigh. It is the fourth book in the Dating Games series and OH MY GOSH you guys…I couldn’t put it down. This book is my absolute favorite from Ms. Leigh-I never thought the Beautiful Mess series would get knocked down to my number two spot but it did.
Royal Games was an emotional read filled with a hot as hell alpha hero and a heroine that was strong and independent. Nora is one of my favorite heroines ever written!! The push and pull between the two main characters was indescribable-you could actually feel the tension coming off the pages. Their journey is one that will stay with me forever.
I seriously want to scream from the rooftop every single thing I loved about this book but I won’t lol. You will fall in love with both Anderson and Nora and hope that they get their happy ever after. You will be fanning yourself time after time and I promise you-you won’t want this story to end. Highly recommend reading this book!
I love a good road trip story! I’ve read a few over the years and they are always so entertaining. And this book was no different. Nora has her reasons for driving Route 66. And they are very good reasons. But so does Anderson. The last thing either of them are looking for is a road trip companion, but after they find themselves running into each other multiple times and Nora has car trouble, that is exactly what they get.
Whew! What a ride this book was! There were plenty of lighthearted moments to keep the story upbeat, but what stayed with me was the angst. A LOT of angst. I will admit that I figured out part of the plot early on, but then it went one step further and knocked me on my butt! I could not believe what I was reading and I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall! (I do that a lot with TK’s books!)
The relationship between these is a wonderful slow burn that drove me crazy in the best way possible. Nora wants to take things slow and has very good reasons for it, but OMG it was torturous to read. I definitely didn’t yell “JUST DO IT ALREADY!” while I was reading. Nope! (Thank god I was quarantining by myself while reading this!)
And I am so happy that Nora & Anderson’s story isn’t finished. This book was just the beginning of their story and I feel as though there is so much more to tell!!! I can’t wait!
