A future prince walks into her diner, pretending to be a pauper. Will one kiss cause all her dreams to come true?Imagine for a moment being dumped by your boyfriend via paper airplane that hits you in the face. And, only minutes later, discover you’re being fired from a job you’ve had for years.Sounds terrible, right? That’s my day, and it’s only Tuesday. Most of my life has been crappy like that … Tuesday. Most of my life has been crappy like that but I refuse to let it get me down.
Hi, I’m Grace and I plan on following my dream no matter what gets in my way. What’s my dream? I think it’s opening an 80’s themed diner. That’s what my good friend told me since I love all things 80’s and diner food. It makes sense so why not?
The only obstacle I’ve come across is tall, with dark hair, an accent that will warm your, uh, heart, and desperate for a job at my diner.
I really wish I didn’t have to fire him.
I will level with you. I’m not who Grace thinks. She sees me as a cool, down-to-earth guy that is humble, caring, and one of the best employees at her diner. She also thinks my name is Nico Aster. I may have stretched the truth by a lot.
My formal title is Nicolas Aster Rowley Chillingham, current Duke of Ironlea and future Prince of Northern Cambria. After the holiday ceremonies and come the new year, I will officially be crowned Prince of Cambria. I’m desperate to get out of becoming a prince so I devise a plan to pretend to be an average guy looking for a job at a diner.
No one in Cambria will find me in the tiny restaurant in Chicago. I plan on returning to my home one day but when I’m ready. The only problem is the owner. The more times I spend getting to know her, the more I wonder if I ever want to go back.

This was such a cute story! I loved the banter between Nico and Grace when they first meet. She doesn’t make it easy on him. Grace has had a rough life and things have been good until now. She gets dumped the stupidest way possible and gets let go of her job. This is when she realizes what her dream is and acts on it. I loved that it was 80s themed with costumes as well. I’d love to visit her diner! Nico has a reputation in Cambria and his parents want to change that. He is a Prince after all and needs to act like it. Nico has other plans. He wants to be normal and live his life. Visiting Chicago and meeting Grace makes him even more want to give it up. Fate steps in and forces his hand. He has no choice anymore. These two change so much in this book and I love the chemistry between them! Perfection!
Good read. Grace and nicholas come from such different backgrounds. They find love not knowing their true selfs. But they find true love not matter what live throws at them. Through it all they find their way to each other.
Nico and Grace’s story is cute. A modern day fairytale come to life. A prince who wants to escape and a woman who wants to fit in and be loved. The characters from the other stories in this series also make appearances to lighten the story. A fantastic addition to this series!!
I really enjoyed this book. I must go back and read the other books in the series.
Thisnis book 5 in the Cake Love series. Grace day has been one thing after another. Her boyfriend breaks up with her then she loses her job. One nice thing is she doesn’t have to worry about work. She starts a new adventure opening her own diner. Nico comes intonher diner and hears they are looking for help and he applies. He has her believe he is running from his country and wants a new beginning. These 2 have chemistry. Great read.
Nico wants to run away from his duty to the throne. He comes to the states for some of his duties but gets sidetrack at an 80’s diner that he wants to work at an hide out at. The owner of the 80’s diner, Grace, who’s trying to make her dream come true. Being part of a family that didn’t know of her is still hard to carry the name. Nico is lying and carrying a disguise to hide. Then the kiss happens and everything seems to good to be true. Love reading Lynx’s books. I’ve read many. This one was a quick fun read.
Grace is having a craptastic day and decides that opening a diner is just what she needs. Her employee, Nico however is not just bad but also not who he seems to be and falling for him might be more than she bargained for. Nico is the crown prince, on the run and falling for Grace. Is this a HEA or just a royal mess in the making? Cute and fun, loved the story.
I’ve enjoyed the Cake Love books and this is a great addition to the series. Nico and Grace’s story is well written, these two characters are interesting, and just enough steam to keep things fun. Their story has a few expected twists, but a HEA. We get appearances by the couples from the previous books, which is always nice. Well done!
It was a fun read.
Nico who wants to experience a life outside the royal way, walks into Grace’s Diner.
Grace who’s looking for family and love, tries to help this lost man and reluctantly gives him a job.
Both the start and the rest of the story was good. You almost felt like part of the family.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is the tale of Grace and Nico. Nico is part of the Cambria Royal family and is touring America with his sister. He doesn’t want to become the Prince of his country so he decides to get a job at Grace’s diner and hide. Grace and Nico have great chemistry together. The story is full of humor and awesome 80’s references. I enjoyed reading every page and I couldn’t put it down. Will Grace stay with Nico when she finds out he’s really a Prince?
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
A different escape for me into this new to me author’s world. What a fun, sweet and sexy read. I know I’ve read this type of story before, but Ms. Lynx has done a great job with it. I found myself smiling so often. It was a feel good story for me. I enjoyed learning about the two main characters, Grace and Nick. I will definitely check out more by this author.
I enjoyed this newest book in the Cake Love Series. Grace is dumped and finds out her receptionist job is being cut. She decides to open a diner with 1980’s movies as its theme. Nico is Duke of Iornlea and future Prince of Northern Cambria. He is tired of being a Royal and decides to live like a commoner after he meets Grace in her diner and is successful in getting a job working for free. He is terrible at being a janitor and ends up breaking lots of dishes but Grace and he start falling for each other. What will happen when she finds out he’s been untruthful about who he is? We have a stuck up royal family, a bratty sister, Grace’s friends and her overprotective brother.
A modern day fairy tale. Rico is the future Prince of Cambria but when his father says he is abdicating, Rico is not ready to be the next Prince. On a royal tour in Chicago he meets Grace who owns an 80s themed diner. They are instantly smitten. He applies for a job as a janitor so he can be near her and hide out from his responsibilities. He does not tell her he is royalty and they fall in love. When she finds out she breaks up with him. He goes home and prepares to assume his duties. His sister convinces Grace to come to Cambria to see Rico and tell him her news. They reunite and get married immediately and have their HEA.
This was a great addition to a wonderful series! Grace was a great character and Nico was perfect for her. This book wasn’t as funny as the previous ones but it was sweet and entertaining nonetheless. I love these books!!
Royal Disgrace by Elizabeth Lynx is book 5 in the Cake Love Series. This is the story of s Nicolas Aster Rowley Chillingham, the Duke of Ironlea and Grace. I haven’t yet read the previous books so for me this was a standalone book. Nicolas is to be the Crown Prince of Northern Cambria but while in America has decided to skip his duties to work at a Dinner that Grace is trying to make successful. Grace is trying to start a new life after breaking up with her boyfriend and then loosing her job. Grace’s dream has always been to open a 80’s type dinner and she is going forward to do so. Grace has never had it easy so she doesn’t have rose color glasses on. Nicolas has never really had to work for anything and isn’t doing such a good job at the dinner or winning Grace over.
Enjoyed this fun read!
Interesting read! I feel like Grace is the typical millennial, where all of a sudden you’re a grown up but still have no idea what to do with your life. While she’s sat on the sidelines and seen everyone else get their HEA, Grace has yet to have one, but when she’s laid off, she decides to do something for herself and start her own business with the help of her brother. It’s there that she meets Nico, who is actually a prince wanting to experience the real world while away from his family. While Nico is a terrible employee, Grace can’t help but keep him because of her feelings for him, and when the pair finally gets together, it’s explosive and instant – so instant that Nico decides she’s the one! But when Nico’s family comes to town and exposes who he really is, Grace feels betrayed and breaks things off with him. Thankfully, fate intervenes and gives Grace the push she needs to realize her true love for Nico and go after him. While I enjoyed this book, I definitely felt like I was missing something, which I feel was probably because I didn’t read the books previous. Overall, I liked the plot but felt it was a little rushed.

This book did take me a few chapters to get into the story but once I did I enjoyed reading it. The storyline was interesting and the characters were really enjoyable to read about. Overall a good story that kept me interested.
I loved this modern fairytale story. So much!
It started with a prince entering a diner, pretending to be a pauper. Well a lie by omission…
Nicolas Aster Rowley Chillingham, heir of the throne of Cambria was a bit lost and not really thrilled to take his father’s place.a lot of responsibilities for this young man who had to follow the rules of royalty and somehow looking for something more. Until that day when he walked into Grace’s restaurant.
I was glad to read Grace’s POV. She was some strange character to me. From the moment I met her in the first book of the series, I didn’t know what to think about her, she seemed a bit awkward and clumsy, this outsider standing and having bad luck in relationships. I saw another side and getting her chance to achieve her dreams, with this diner, her love of 80’s movies. I guess her reluctance with the masculine gent was understandable. When that man came asking for a job in her diner because she wanted motivated people in her business, little did she know that the man she hired was far from her world.
Nicolas wanted just a breath for his royal duties and Grace’s diner was the right opportunity to escape. But he wasn’t experienced at all as a waiter and kept going from one catastrophe to another one. The more he learned about Grace, the less he wanted to come back home. But how long before his lies would blow in his face?
I adored their chemistry. Elizabeth Lynx can wrote some pretty odd characters, always with that sarcastic tone and straightforwardness when it came to feelings, and in that one a strong hint of naughty. As usual the bunch of colorful friends with no filter and overbearing brother (ah Alex…) were there to add some kind of hilarious moments. And don’t forget the swoony moments… I was delighted to see Grace standing for herself and finally finding her Happily ever after with her prince.
Very hot princely romance
3,5
Good romance very hot, but that remains simple in the scenario. The characters are nice, but I did not really like Nico’s character.
Grace decides to see the future positively and since she is fired, to build her dream: she has money and she can open and run a diner with a decor of the 80s (even the waiters). In search of waiters she meets Nico. They’re immédiately attracted to each other, but he’s awkward and do not know much in service, nor in the 80s, and that for a good reason: he’s a future prince who tries momentarily to escape the royal cocoon and its future. But between their relationship boss / employee, the lies of Nico to hide his identity, the doubts of Grace’s family and the obligations of Nico, their relationship seems simple but can only be complicated.

The book was ok for me, the characters were somewhat relatable, it did take till over halfway in the book to get exciting. That didn’t last. The book did not flow as well as it could have but still a nice read.
