A future prince walks into her diner, pretending to be a pauper. Will one kiss cause all her dreams to come true?Imagine for a moment being dumped by your boyfriend via paper airplane that hits you in the face. And, only minutes later, discover you’re being fired from a job you’ve had for years.Sounds terrible, right? That’s my day, and it’s only Tuesday. Most of my life has been crappy like that … Tuesday. Most of my life has been crappy like that but I refuse to let it get me down.
Hi, I’m Grace and I plan on following my dream no matter what gets in my way. What’s my dream? I think it’s opening an 80’s themed diner. That’s what my good friend told me since I love all things 80’s and diner food. It makes sense so why not?
The only obstacle I’ve come across is tall, with dark hair, an accent that will warm your, uh, heart, and desperate for a job at my diner.
I really wish I didn’t have to fire him.
I will level with you. I’m not who Grace thinks. She sees me as a cool, down-to-earth guy that is humble, caring, and one of the best employees at her diner. She also thinks my name is Nico Aster. I may have stretched the truth by a lot.
My formal title is Nicolas Aster Rowley Chillingham, current Duke of Ironlea and future Prince of Northern Cambria. After the holiday ceremonies and come the new year, I will officially be crowned Prince of Cambria. I’m desperate to get out of becoming a prince so I devise a plan to pretend to be an average guy looking for a job at a diner.
No one in Cambria will find me in the tiny restaurant in Chicago. I plan on returning to my home one day but when I’m ready. The only problem is the owner. The more times I spend getting to know her, the more I wonder if I ever want to go back.

Very hot ans steamy book, with alot of truth to it.

Oh how I love a good modern day princess meets her prince charming, lol. This book was absolutely amazing and easy to fall in love with. Author, Elizabeth Lynx hits the nail on the head with his fantastic book. An amazing book and highly recommended.
I don’t know about you, but I love a royal romance, and this one fit the bill perfectly! A comedy of errors, with the importance of loving yourself and others and acceptance displayed in a wonderful way. It was awesome to see some others from the Cake Love series, and seeing more of the bond between Grace and Alex, newly found siblings, well, it just made my heart smile! But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Royal Disgrace tells us the story of Nico, a prince-in-waiting on the run from his responsibilities, and Grace, a feisty, dirty talking, lover of everything 80s, diner owner, the diner where Nico ends up looking for a job. I loved seeing the development of both their characters, their growth palpable as they learned more about each other and themselves based on what was happening. I loved seeing the women of SWIM being amazingly supportive friends for one another. I loved seeing Alex enjoy his role as brother. I loved all the 80s references throughout the book, from the tagline each chapter, the special emphasis on The Princess Bride, which, is the best love story ever told, obviously, and the sense of fun that I really could feel shining throughout the book, telling me that the author loved writing this as much as I loved reading it!
Elizabeth always does an amazing job of balancing truths that we all need to hear with scenarios that showcase that love can conquer all, no matter how much of a mess we make of things, and, that, absence can make the heart grow fonder, or, at least, show the heart what it truly wants. Things I’ve learned after reading this book: I need gingerbread French toast in my life, I hope to one day find someone that loves me like Nico and Grace love one another, and, everyone needs a group of friends as amazing as the SWIM women are with each other. Be sure to give this book a try, and the rest of the series too! I guarantee it’ll make you laugh!
Falling for a future Prince that she thought was a pauper
Grace loses her boyfriend and job within minutes of each other. After this happens she decides that she has to make good things happen herself. She gets her brother and they open a diner with an older thyme. Nico shows up pretending to need a job when in actually he’s a future prince after his father steps down. But he doesn’t want to do it and came to America to just blend in. Grace hires him as a waiter but he’s terrible but doesn’t fire him. As time goes on they get closer and fall in love. But his family show up and outs him. Shes hurt and feels that he made fun of her and tells him to leave. He goes back to his country but what will happen with Grace? Will he get to talk to her or will she go to him? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Grace & Nico wow it’s funny steamy and you have royalty another good read from this author!
I have read the other books in the Cake Love series and loved them and this one is just as good!. The story starts with Grace and what is happening in her life and how Nico comes into her life. The story drew me and I could not put it down till the end. I recommend this book!!!!!
Grace has had a bad day. Her boyfriend breaks up with her by sailing a paper airplane at her face as soon as she gets to work. Then she gets fired, from the job she’s had for years, all in just a few minutes of her entering her office space. Her friend helps her decide what she wants to do with her life. That decision leads to Grace opening Totally Diner, an 80’s themed diner where the staff dresses in costumes from Grace’s favorite movies.
Enter Nick. He and his sister are visiting Chicago on a state visit. They are the Duke and Duchess of Ironlea, and Nick is the future Prince of Cambria. His father is about to step down, and if he doesn’t marry by age 30, Nick will not only lose the throne, but there will be no more kingdom of Cambria. Nick doesn’t want to be Prince and he’s even willing to let Cambria crumble. He’s not ready to rule and this trip to the US is his last duty before becoming ruler.
Nick and Grace are such a cute couple! I loved reading their story and I couldn’t put it down. The writing was great, I especially loved all the references to the 80’s movies. I spent an enjoyable time reliving my teen years. You know, when the movies originally came out. It’s a fun holiday story, and an easy read. To be honest, I didn’t even know that it was part of a series until I checked into it on Goodreads. I definitely didn’t feel like I missed out on reading the rest of the series, I kept up with everything just fine. But, now that I know that it is part of a series, I’ll be checking out the rest of the stories.
*I received an ARC of this story and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Just the absolute best story. Everything I like to read about and more. Such a great story I will read again and again. A keeper!!
This is the 5th book in this awesome series, and is Grace and Nico’s story. This is a beautifully written story which is sweet, humorous, steamy, and an all round entertaining read. I was intrigued and hook throughout this addictive page turner and I highly recommend for all readers.
Can I just start from saying that I love the fact that Elizabeth Lynx’s takes us back to her beloved Cake Love series. If you havent had a chance to read any of the series yet then you must because you are missing out on 4 other fabulous stories. The best part is how different yet the same they are. You’ll gett what I’m saying once you read them. That’s my favorite part right there with how different yet the same the ladies of SWIM Meet are. This is their newest member Grace’s story. She seems to be a bit lost and trying to find her way in her new life now that she is apart of her brothers life. She also has some bad luck with relationships. I just love her spirit and how she just keeps trying until she finds what she is looking for. Little did she know that she would find love with Nico (Nick, Nicolas). Nick is hiding and trying to avoid his royal responsibilities. You feel his pull with Grace and that something special they share. Even with his little secret he hids from her you know they are meant to be. They are hot together. I love how the ladies of SWIM Meet help Grace see the way back to Nick. I loved this book so much. You really need to experience this one for yourself and live this fairy tale through Grace.
What a delightful read. I fell in love with the characters and the storyline was great. It had me laughing, smiling, hoping for a happy ever after but mostly I just felt happy as I read as I tagged along on Grace and Nico’s journey.
Grace is a hot mess. She gets dumped via paper airplane and fired from her job, all in the same day. Luckily for her, she has recently come into a large amount of money so she can basically do whatever she wants. With her love of movies from the 80’s and eating at out of the way diners, she decides to open an 80’s themed diner. She soons finds out it’s not as easy as it sounded, especially hiring people that are a good fit. When a handsome, sexy guys asks to interview she’s reluctant. Especially since he has no skills at all. But thinking she’s helping a guy whose in trouble and needs her help, she keeps him around. Little does she know he’s a duke and soon to be crowned prince of his country.
As for Nico, he just wants to sow his oats and live a normal life. One without the responsibilities of running his country – at least for a little while. When he see Grace his heart flips and he knows he’ll do anything she wants just so he can be around her – including being a janitor at her diner. Things get a little wacky when their feelings for each other start to take hold and Nico still hasn’t confessed who he is. What happens when Grace finds out Nico has been lying about his true identity. Does he lose her for good? Can she ever get past all his lies? Or does Nico just become another sistic in her calendar book of loser ex-boyfriends? I truly adored Royal Disgrace and I highly recommend grabbing up – you won’t be sorry you did. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars.
Royal Disgrace was not what I expected it to be. If possible, Lynx gave the story more personality than the characters. Grace is my favorite heroine. She refuses to swept off her feet. She lives in the real world and has the baggage to prove it. Nick has a dreamer’s soul, but is hindered by duty. A reversal of roles gives a fresh twist to the royal fantasy. Lynx rewrites the narrative of what a fairytale should be and makes it more attuned to the real world with the ever present culmination of heartwarming.
What an amazing series!
I love this world since The Spy Ring (it’s actually the 4th book in the series, but the first one I read it). The characters are funny, silly and light written. They make mistakes, they are vulnerable and adorably weird.
Specially Grace. Since the moment I met her, I wanted her to have a book, her own story. I felt like she deserved to tell us about her life and have her own HEA.
She was wonderfully awkward and deeply genuine. Her past wasn’t an easy one, and even as an adult, she didn’t have the most social of lives.
Even her friends sometimes couldn’t see al the beauty she had, but not in an offensive way. She was a little overlooked, and even though I wanted her to be more valued, it was a different side of a heroine, and that made her more relatable. I loved that.
She was also so willing to help, selfless and sweet. And even with all her weirdness, she was wise and sober.
Nico is probably her total opposite. Coming from a loving family (even if not the most supportive one), he doesn’t know what it’s like to not have something, specially love.
But he only truly finds out what love is and really means and he meets Grace.
They are both still struggling to find a place in this world. They are a little lost and looking for some changes in their lives. Little did they know that they would find what they were looking for in each other. She, a weird, genuine and hard worker comonner (for some reason, I don’t like that word), and he, a lost, loving and royal disGrace.
Light, funny, sexy and sweet, this book showed that love comes from where you least expect it, no matter how fulfilling or how empty you life has been. No matter the differences of even law. Love always finds a way.
I really enjoyed this creative take on escaping royalty. The connection between the MMC & FMC (Nico & Grace) was palpable. Both were strong in very different ways. They were sweet, genuine, tender. Supportive, endured heartbreak, let downs, and had expectations placed upon them that were unfathomable. Nico knew immediately that Grace was worth more than the world to him. She, on the other hand, took some time to come to that realization.
Having grown up without a family, how would Grace react when she learned Nico left his loving family? Would she give him a chance to explain, or just end their trist? What of the consequenses? You need to add this book to your library & read for yourself. It is a quick read, and worth every minute. Oh, don’t forget the bonus epilogue!
While I did receive an ARC of this book, I am leaving my honest review, and plan to add Ms. Lynx’s book to my library so I can read it over & over again!
In book five, this is the story of Grace and Nico. Grace is sister to Alex, who are both billionaires. Just fired from her job, she opens a themed restaurant. She cannot seem to keep good help, and they needed a waiter. Nico is to be the Prince of Cambria after his father abdicates. He is very mad and does not want the crown. In America, they ate at Grace’s diner and he decided to take the job without telling them who he really is. Now, Grace is VERY attracted to him and vice versa. He is terrible at his job and Grace thinks he is seeking asylum with her! After a few weeks, they finally come together and get engaged! Still, he has not told her the truth! Then, it all comes crashing down around them! Once she discovers the truth she is done! Now what? More surprises are in store for these two! This book contains many LOL moments! It is a fast read with steamy scenes, snark, wit, and a great romance! You will LOVE this story and the return of familiar characters. I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
Nico and Grace’s romance makes for an entertaining read in Royal Disgrace. It’s an amusing story, sweet and steamy with likable characters. Nico, despite being a bit of a bad boy has genuine feelings for Grace and it’s impossible to dislike him. Grace hasn’t had the best life but is a kindhearted person who deserves a happy ending. I enjoyed this story a lot.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Royal Disgrace (Cake Love Book 5) can be read as a standalone, which is what I did since this is the first in the series that I have read. I’m sure I would know some of the supporting characters more if I had read the others, but I had no problems following this book. This is a fairy tale come true, even though Grace does not realize it for a while. Nico is royalty, but really just wants to live his own life. He and Grace meet and there is an instant attraction between them. Nico is willing to work for free(intern) just to be close to Grace, and to feel like a normal person for once in his life. The book has some hot scenes, some growing up for both characters, and learning that life often sends you curveballs when you least expect them. Will Grace and Nico be able to work through their differences and be together forever? You need to read to see if the fairy tale does come true for Grace. I loved this book and the characters, and now want to read the books that I missed. I have loved every Elizabeth Lynx book I have read, and this one did not disappoint me either. I will look forward to your next book.
I had to root for Grace in this one. The beginning of her life wasn’t all that great for her, and neither was the beginning of the book. I think she and I could be friends, though, ’cause I love most things ’80s related. And Nico, he really tried to be common. I think his charming personality made him get away with a lot, that and he wasn’t getting paid. I kind of wondered how Grace couldn’t pick up on what was going on around her, but it was worth it to watch her finally get what she was searching her whole life for.
Royal Disgrace
Elizabeth Lynx
I’ve loved reading all of the books of the Cake Love Series. Royal Disgrace was a quick, hot, steamy read with a sweet happily ever after. It was Grace and Nico’s love story. Grace ends up teaching Nico many things including a little bit about honesty, being selfless and love.
I really enjoyed Royal Disgrace. This is my first book in this series, and I was able to read it as a complete standalone. I enjoy this author’s writing and look forward to reading the previous books in the Cake Love series.
Grace is a woman who is still trying to find herself and even though, she has recently come into money and has discovered a brother she knew she never had, she isn’t ready to just travel the world and spend her new found inheritance. She is a worker and loves to keep busy. So, she’s opened her own 80’s themed diner. In walks Nic, future Prince of North Cambria, ready to live a normal life of freedom. He’s willing to do anything to get close to the owner of the quant little diner he’s walked in to.
Cute story with lots of “aww” moments. Enjoyed the escape from life and believing there are real prince charming’s walking among us. Loved the 80’s references throughout.
