Who knew a conman could turn into a prince?I might be a newfound prince, but that doesn’t mean I’m ready to say goodbye to my days of freedom. I certainly don’t want a roommate. When my brother, the king, asked me to babysit a diplomat’s daughter, I didn’t know I’d end up with the roommate from hell. She’s nosy, and a pain in my ass and refuses to see my charm. She’s also sexy and smells incredible … to see my charm. She’s also sexy and smells incredible and I can’t get her out of my damn head.
Not to mention she’s funny and sweet with a mouthy streak that makes her my kind of girl.
I just thought I’d mix a little business with pleasure…I didn’t plan to lose control of my heart.
But what I really didn’t plan on…my past as a conman ruining my life as a prince.
Royal Bastard is book one of the Royals Undone duet, set in the same world as Cheeky Royal and Cheeky King, however you do not need to read the Royals Undercover duet to swoon over this naughty new royal.

Royal Bastard couldn’t get here fast enough. I knew when I met Lucas in the Royals Undercover duet, I had to know everything about him. He’s a bad boy that comes from a childhood of survival. Now he’s royalty and is waiting for someone to wake him up from this dream that is his new life. Bryna isn’t your typical debutante, at least not anymore. She’s ready to take control of her life without her parents interfering. Lucas has one job that concerns Bryna and it’s getting harder and harder to keep his hands to himself.
These two have full blown chemistry and the tension is explosive. I knew I wanted Lucas’ story, but I wasn’t expecting Royal Bastard to take all my attention. The writing is fabulous, and I had so much fun reading about this couple. Nana Malone is the queen of writing about royals. I need the conclusion and the answers to see if this couple are truly meant to be.
Nothing like meeting a girl escaping the King’s wedding through a bathroom window and having her knickers on view for all to see! But that’s how Lucas meets Bryna.
Bryna wants to move to NY and escape her controlling parents but she escapes from the wrong side of the castle. She eventually makes it away from Lucas and onto NY. But, Lucas can’t get her out of his mind and he doesn’t realize that his brother, Sebastian (the King) has requested that Lucas watch over Bryna (but Lucas doesn’t realize who it is). Before you know it, Lucas and Bryna are living together and taking classes together. The schedule chemistry is HOT. Sparks and words fly between the two of them and you can’t wait to see if it will finally snap.
These two are such fun together. I’m looking for a HEA for Lucas but BAM! I did not see that cliffhanger, but it’s so good. Love Nana Malone and her writing and can’t wait for Book 2.
This is the first book in the Royals Undone Duet. The story is captivating, intriguing and suspenseful! I love Nana Malone’s writing! This is the story of Lucas and Bryana. Their chemistry is strong and their story is sexy and romantic. We first met Lucas in the Royals Undercover Series, but this story can be read as a standalone. And that ending!! Now, I can’t wait for the next book in the Series! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Oh Wow!! Royal Bastard is a total 4 1/2 star read for me. I did not expect to love Lucas as much as I fell in love with him in this book. Wow!! Oh Wow!! Nana Malone really knows how to draw her readers in with her storytelling skills, and the way in which she writes her books always leaves her readers wanting more, and Royal Bastard was no exception to the rule.
Royal Bastard focuses on Lucas, the long lost brother of Sebastian, who we first met in the Royal Undercover series, and his journey to become the new Lucas and to make Sebastian proud of him, as well as to show he is worthy of the title that has been bestowed upon him. Lucas also is gorgeous, arrogant, extremely sexy, and used to having ladies drop down at his feet to do whatever he wants. However, enters, walks or falls Bryna into Lucas’ pathway, and Lucas’ easygoing charm with the ladies seems to have missed Bryna. Bryna is an awesome character. I absolutely loved her character. She is beautiful, fierce, independent…to an extent, and she is not putting up with Lucas’ smooth talking ways. Boy, oh boy, does this set up the sparks flying between these two. You want to talk about sexual tension and pulling and tugging. Whoa!! You just know that if one of them finally gives in, they are going to set the place on fire together.
Lucas, unlike Sebastian, did not grow up with their father. He has lived the life of a grifter thanks to his mother and stepfather. Now that Lucas knows who he is and is trying to make a change, there are so many forces from his past trying to pull him back into the darkness and turn him away from the light and his new found freedom. Bryna, who also comes from a different world than Lucas, is trying hard to find her own freedom and place in the world.
Royal Bastard is one sexy, smart, witty, and engrossing read. Beware. You may think you have things all figured out, but never underestimate the ability of Nana Malone to knock you off your feet with curve ball after curve ball, and she really did it in this one. The ending on this one…NEVER SAW IT COMING. I cannot wait for the conclusion to this one.
hese royals written by the oh so cleaver Nana Malone are quickly becoming my favorites. These characters and their personalities are seriously amazeballs. Royal Bastard had everything I’m looking for. Scandal, secret prince, suspense, running from royalty – the whole shabang. It was a wild ride and I loved each and every moment.
Story Line: So the book kicks off at the royal wedding of Lucas’s brother who is basically the king now. But you see, Lucas is a prince who didn’t know he was a prince until very, very recently. So he hasn’t lived the charmed life everyone assumes he has. But his big bro and sister in law both love him to death, so that’s definitely a win for the new prince charming. Insert Bryna. She’s actual royalty. And her parents embody all the politics that come with being of that bloodline. So Bryna is fleeing the wedding and finds herself face to face with too handsome for his own good Lucas.
Fastforward to NYC where our characters run into one another again. Except here’s where the real fun begins. I honestly didn’t know what to expect with these two crossing paths again. What I was NOT expecting was just how deep the drama runs for poor Lucas. I knew Bryna was going to have a problem since she had to sneak out a window of a wedding to escape the chains of her family. But Lucas? Man, poor guy. I was really hoping he would finally get an easy life. And then that ending? OH EM GEE. I need book 2 like right NOW!
Interaction: I love me some sass. We all know this. Sassy characters are my JAM. Bryna brings all the boys to the yard with her sharp tongue, major sass factor and her determination. LOVE HER. The banter between Bryna and Lucas is absolutely epic. They are witty, so funny, and so sweet all rolled up into one perfect package.
Laundry: Holy delayed gratification, batman! Lucas must have had blue balls for at least half of this book. He held back way more than I thought possible. And Bryna? Girlfriend, I know the wait was worth it, but holy smokes. I ached for you! These two had some of the BEST angsty scenes I’ve ever read. The amount of longing I felt between them was almost too much to bear. And when I felt like I couldn’t take any more tension, BOOM. Fireworks.
Depth: I think it’s always assumed that everything is peaches and cream with royal families – that their lives are just hunky dory all day long. This book clearly squashes that theory. With royalty comes so much expectation, tension and politics. I ate up every word about this family and their backstory all the while holding my breath waiting for the next shoe to fall. This family is far from perfect, but I think that makes me love them even more. I love their imperfections and I love how they overcome anything and everything that is thrown at them. This love story was easily one of my favorites and I know everyone else will love it too.
Wow, what a great start to the Royals Undone Duet. We first met Lucas in the Royals Undercover series. Now we learn more about Lucas and his perfect match in Lady Bryna Tressel. Bryna wants to be her own woman and not the pawn her parents try to make her. She was caught by Lucas sneaking out of the palace to run away to New York to go to school. Lucas is intrigued by the beautiful, sassy woman, who doesn’t fall for his charms. When he is asked by the king to watch out for Bryna, he will do whatever it takes to please his brother and to prove he is not what his past tried to make him. If he gets to be with sexy Bryna and change her mind about him, who is he to complain? But when his past appears and threatens his new life, he must do what it takes to protect those he cares about. This is another sweet, witty, suspenseful story that will leave you stunned and begging for the next book!
Nana’s books have become my “go to” when I want a fun, flirty romance with a a side of a twist. But I have to say….
Nana Malone.
What am I gong to do with you?
First, you make me totally fall for Lucas and his bad-boy charming persona. THEN, you throw in sassy Lady Bryna. I loved Bryna! Her and Lucas are a perfect pair. Her sass, sarcasm, and adorkable personality and his charm and good looks are a match made in royal heaven. Can’t wait for more!
But that ending.
THAT ENDING.
I can’t even be mad at ya. Because I know that you a) leave a cliffhanger that is sort of an ending, but you know there’s more coming and b) make me want to read your next book now.
Wow. How on earth am I supposed to wait for the next installment?
Every girl always dreams about either being a princess or marrying a prince. Well Lucas is the lost prince from a dalliance King Cassius had with his mother. Lady Bryna wants nothing to do with the Royal Court after experiences with other men and her father. How will these two ever make it work?
Lucas and Bryna have their work cut out for them. They are like oil and water but they will be explosive if they ever let their guards down. Only time will tell what will happen.
Note: this is a cliffhanger. If you can’t stand the suspense wait for Bastard Prince to release before reading this book.
I must say I love the men Nana Malone gives us in her writing. They are strong, arrogant, confident alpha men who are also caring and loving for those that matter to them. In Royal Bastard, Royals Undone #2, we get Lucas and I absolutely loved him. He is all that and more, but has underlying insecurities about his past and what he has to offer anyone which makes readers love him more. Swoon!
We first met Lucas in the Royal Undercover series and please note, the Royals Undone can be read as a standalone, Royal Undercover is the story of Lucas’ brother. And one I do recommend, but does not need to be read before reading Lucas’ books. Lucas’ past is full of mistakes and things he has done he may regret, but cannot change. All he can do is try and be a better man in the future, but is ones past ever truly in the past?
Bryna has lived a sheltered life controlled by her parents, who are part of the royal court. All Bryna has ever wanted was to live her life for herself. After the fiancé her parents arranged for her cheated on her, she had enough and was ready to live life for herself. But will her parents ever truly let her go when they see her as an asset?
Lucas wants to make Sebastian proud, but when he asks him to watch over his charity and a royal debutante, he does not feel he is up to the task. But when finds out the debutante is none other than the girl who fell out of the tower he wants to spend more time with her. Even as he knows he is not good enough for her. Bryna wants nothing to do with the man sent by her parents to watch over her, but the more time they spend together, the more they want each other. But with so many secrets between them, can they ever truly have a chance for a future?
I loved Royal Bastard by Nana Malone and even more so with appearances from the Black Security men. What a nice surprise! This was a sweet and charming read about two people trying to find who they are and how to balance so many obligations weighing them down. And that ending! I need book two now!
Read and reviewed for Reviews From The Heart.
Happy reading!
4.5 stars
We met Lucas in the Royals Undercover duet. The long lost son of King Cassius finally gets his own story told. I loved Lucas in Royals Undercover and that didn’t stop with his book. If anything I liked him more. There’s so much more to him than the fun loving bad boy he portrays.
Asked by Sebastian to keep an eye on Bryna, Lucas agrees not realising that he’s already met her when he caught her trying to escape from Sebastian’s wedding. Knowing he has to get close enough to keep her safe but stay far enough away so he doesn’t start wanting what he isn’t allowed, Lucas has a fight on his hands. There’s something about Bryna that keeps Lucas’ interest and he’s finding it harder and harder to keep his attraction a secret.
Bryna is really easy to like. Struggling to have some independence she secretly moves away, determined to support herself and stand on her own two feet. Unfortunately things don’t go how she’s expecting and when Lucas comes to her rescue, she finds herself also struggling to not let him know that she’s crushing on him.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved Lucas at the start and the more I got to know him, the easier it was to like him even more. This is book one of a duet so expect an awesome cliffy (with a twist I truly didn’t see coming). I can’t wait for the conclusion of Lucas’ story.
Sexy and sweet, this perfectly timed Royal romance is exactly what you need to keep you company this summer.
I’m addicted to all things Lucas. Seriously. Addicted. He’s beautiful and perfect and Bryna is his perfect match. They challenge each other and let down their guard so they can be real in each other’s company. It’s pretty spectacular!
Plus we got to see Sebastian and Penny’s wedding at the beginning and I swooned so much like SO MUCH. I’m living for Royal romances at the minute (I’m a Brit and prince Harry ‘kay?) so this entire book was steamy perfection.
I’d probably describe it as a slow burn, but the heat between Lucas and Bryna makes you feel like it isn’t because it’s constantly building from the very beginning.
I also loved the mystery and foreshadowing aspects, and seeing Lucas accept himself as a person, as a prince and as Sebastian’s brother was wonderful. I’ve been dying to read this beauty since I found out from Nana that Lucas was getting a book, and she 100% met my expectations and beyond. I need the second part IMMEDIATELY. Like my soul. I needs it. Words and stuff. #dead
Nana Malone is the queen of awesome characters! She did it again in Royal Bastard. This book is about Lucas, King Sebastian’s brother who has yet to be named publicly and Bryna who is ready to live her life out of her father’s influence.
Lucas is reluctant when asked to watch out for Bryna when she comes to NY for an internship. That is until he realizes she’s the same woman he caught escaping his brothers wedding reception and who has occupied his thoughts since.
While Lucas is trying to overcome is shady past and become the man he wants to be Beyna is trying to break free from her controlling father and be her won woman. Can they succeed and still keep each other or will the past always continue to throw things in their way?
Nana Malone has again created two characters that have amazing chemistry and who you can’t help but root for their happy ending. This is a cliff hanger but so worth the read!
I received an advanced readers copy for a honest review.
* A copy of this book was provided by A Novel Take PR and I freely give my honest review*
I liked this story but I felt like I got thrown in to the middle of a story I should have known about. I found out that I should have read the series: Royals Undercover first.
You can read this without reading that series!!! (I’m just a girl who likes to take things in the right order)
Warning: There’s a cliffhanger or should I say HFN depending on how you see it.
Well, this is what I liked:
* Good storyline even though I felt like I was dropped in the middle of it.
* Good characters descriptions
* Chemistry from the first moment between Lucas and Bryna although I thought Lucas was a little too cocky in the beginning.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* Fun and intriguing dialogues
* Steamy love scene
4 strong stars
Royal Bastard opens with the beautiful joining of King Sebastian and Calamity Penny in royal matrimony. After the ceremony, Lucas, the secret prince of Winston Isles is off in search of excitement, when out of a window falls a beautiful woman. But, Bryna doesn’t want anything to do with guys like Lucas; storming away with her ‘bum’ exposed. And, oh what a ‘bum’ it must have been; because poor Lucas can’t think of anything else.
Fast foward to NYC, where Lucas has agreed to watch over a spoiled, rich girl. Little does he know that it is Bryna; who challenges Lucas in every way, especially because he blindly promised to keep his hands and other body parts to himself.
As Lucas’s childhood resurfaces, he must make a decision that will jeopardize his new life and love. But, unbeknownst to Lucas, he is in for the biggest con of his life!
Hilariously funny, sexy, romantic; Royal Bastard is a blast to read! But beware…the Queen of cliffhangers has struck again; and boy is it a doozy!
Royal Bastard was fantastic!!! This book tells the story of Lucas and Bryna and is everything I had hoped it would be. Learning more about Lucas was eye opening but made me love his character even more. The development of the relationship between Lucas and Bryana was a slow build that was so worth the wait. I loved loved loved that we got to see the Blake security guys and we still had the interaction between Sebastian and Lucas..I love their dynamic. Learning more about Lucas’s past was super important to the story and was written so well. The only question I have is please let there be another book! Their was a cliffhanger that I was not expecting!!! Please Ms Malone don’t leave us hanging!!! Great read!
OMG! Nana does it an again and leaves me speechless at the end of this book! Ashley @ White Hot Reads
This Cliff hanger is one with lots of what’s going to happen next. Lucas and Bryna have crazy attraction that keeps you wanting them to just get together already! Lucas and Bryna have family issues that make their lives just that more complicated.
Where is Nana going to take this couple next?? Can’t wait for more of this!!! When does the second book release?
I was so freaking happy Lucas got his own book especially after meeting him in Cheeky Royal/Cheeky King as you couldn’t help but love him. Lucas is trying to keep his life on the straight and narrow and finish up his classes while he starts his transition to becoming a Prince and starting to live that life unfortunately for him trying to balance being a good guy, having a hot chick who loves to hate him, having gaurds and his past coming back to haunt him is a lot to try and deal with. You can not help but feel his frustration and helplessness with everything going on and want him to see he can be the good guy but also keep who he is as well because he really is a good guy! Bryna on the other hand geezus talk about being smothered by her family, her sass is fantastic as well as her hating wanting to like Lucas and the banter they have with each other is great. There are plenty of tense times, cringing moments as well as lol times to keep you utterly hooked to this book and the ending … OMG are you freaking kidding me !!!!!
OMG, talk about a roller coaster ride, and the ending, WOW, can’t wait to read more of Bryna and Lucas’s story, where will she take us in end, inquiring minds want to know
I love this book! It’s fun yet serious, and hilarious yet heated and edgy.
Both Bryna and Lucas are struggling with love, life and living in general. Bryna has broken free from her parents’ control and is trying to make a new life for herself so that she can finally be truly happy. Lucas, is also facing similar challenges, but on the opposite scale – he has recently discovered that he is a prince and he is trying his best to turn his life around. What neither of them counted on was falling in love with each other. How could that happen? They hate each other – right? Not to mention that they’re totally wrong for each other.
Royal Bastard is a fantastic read. It is absolutely hilarious in places, so much so that I was actually laughing out loud! Yet in other places, it is full of suspense and drama and left me clinging to the edge of my seat in anticipation of what was coming next. If you enjoy adult romance and a few disasters thrown in along the way, then this is definitely recommended for you! Fantastic – 5 stars!
Now it is Lucas turn!
He is very conflicted. Although ready to leave behind his life as a con-man, his past comes knocking and pulling him back to the old ways. We do not get the chance to chose our parents yet we honor them and try to help them. In Lucas’ case, he might as well throw his arms in the air and just keep going. His mother is some piece of work.
In the meantime, he has met Bryna. She is fire and wind all rolled up into an enticing package. She is fighting for her independence from her parents. It is time for her to make her own choices and mistakes. It is inevitable that once their paths cross both of them will be forever changed. As Lucas tries to help her their destinies are bound together and they are both in danger.
Please note this is book 1. Book 2 is coming in September. You will not want to miss it.
l am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
