But Miss Prim and Proper won’t give up, and before he knows what’s what, he’s on a plane to London.

A sexy and steamy read. What happens when you find out that most of what you knew of your life is not true? For Nick it’s chaos. He has to leave his home and country to try and fill a new role in Yorkshire, England. Brooke is back at home trying to hold the pieces of her life together. Her new job is driving her crazy. Avery Flynn writes stories that are spicy, with characters that are colorful and demand your attention. You can’t help but be entertained by their antics, and dry wit. As Brooke and Nick spar for dominance in their relationship it leads to some fun conversations in words and actions until there is no denying the fairytale ending.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author as part of her review team.
I enjoyed this book and especially liked the reverse royal role – Nick is in line for the “earldom” – but doesn’t want anything to do with it.
Brooke works for the earl and is trying to get Nick to accept his new role and responsibilities – mainly to benefit her hometown of Bowhaven, which is stuck in a rut because of the reigning Earl (Nick’s grandfather).
The steam between the characters is HOT! I hope there is another book that picks up where this one left off!
Well, this was a new and different book for me.
I loved Nick was this rich guy but didn’t live that way and loved to fix things himself. He saw value where others might not have.
Brooke was full of ideas but had issues getting those ideas through correctly.
These two together were great!!!
Royal Bastard is the story of Nick Vane and Brooke Powell. Nick is an American that wants nothing to do with his grandfather, The Earl. The earl regrets pushing his son away and making him annul his marriage with the love of his life. He also has Alzheimer’s and so needs to find his successor, as his son passed away without another heir. Nick goes to England just to put his roots to rest and tell his grandfather just how hard of a life he lived due to him. He feels abandoned and was forced to grow up quick with a sick mom and then in foster care; all he got from his dad was a check and so he resents them all. Brooke is the earl’s secretary and the attraction to Nick is instant. It has a lot of battle of wills and their quarrels made for a fun read. I read it in one day and it was a nice break from life. Very fun and light hearted book. I can’t wait to read more by Avery Flynn
Brooke had to teach Nick but was he ready to learn?
Nick is happy staying in Salvation and inventing things that made him money but there was something about all the letters and calls from Brooke Chapman-Powell to at least visit his grandfather, the Earl of Englefield. Brooke needed American Nick Vane to agree to be the next earl because if he didn’t, Dallinger Park would be sold and cause even more problems for the area when the factory closed.
Brooke’s job was to teach Nick to love Englefield enough to stay and become the next earl when his grandfather passed away. Nick’s goal was to visit and return to Salvation but finally meeting Brooke changed his mind and he learned to accept everyone knowing your business because that was life in a small village.
Royal Bastard is a funny cute romance with two very different people that end up teaching each other and falling in love.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved this!
A very proper, uptight Earl’s secretary is charged with getting a VERY reluctant heir to England and turning him into a proper Earl. No problem when that secretary is Brooke. She won’t take no for an answer so, against his better judgement, Nick travels to England to tell his long lost grandfather to get lost.
Sparks fly and the tension is HOT when these opposites attract in a big way. Funny, steamy and downright sassy, Brooke and Nick made me smile right to the last page. Highly recommended!!
Nick is an inventor, he is a son of and Earl too, but his father wasn’t there for him. Now his grandfather needs him in England. He goes only because he is intrigued in his grandfather, prim and proper secretary.
Wonderful story with great characters.
