A high society wedding ends unhappily ever after in this mystery starring Boston PI Spenser—“the timeless hero of American detective fiction” (The New York Times Book Review).Hired as a bodyguard at an exclusive wedding, Spenser witnesses an unexpected crime: the kidnapping of the young bride, which opens the door for murder, family secrets, and the reappearance of an old nemesis.
Easy reading
Very good Robert B. Parker…whom I still miss. Seams to be a REALLY far out story until it’s all wrapped neatly up as only Parker could co. If you like Spencer stories, you’ll enjoy this one.
Robert B Parker is one of my favorite authors.
You can never go wrong with Robert Parker.
The master, Robert B. Parker is my all time favorite author, I have read everything he has written and have never been disappointed.
I really liked this book. All of the books in this series are so well written and so enjoyable to read.
I enjoy a great story. I just love Robert B. Parker. He was one of the worlds best story tellers. I will read them all again.
All by this author provide good reading and this book no exception
Parker’s strong man detective hero is a witty and improbable tough guy with a sensitive core. He’s a modern Lochinvar, and tremendously entertaining.
One of the All-time Best authors
Robert B. Parker’s Spenser is world-class!
Love the Spenser series. This one, however, ended in a different way…not bad at all…just different
Not Parker’s best, but you still get to spend time with all your favorites. Worth a read.
It is a SPENSER novel. If you are a Spenser fan , you will not want to miss it. If you have never read a spenser novel ,this is a good place get acquainted with him and his friends and I suspect that you may find yourself looking forward to the next book.ARMACKS
I’ve always loved the Spencer character, along with the other regulars, including Susan and Hawk; the dialogue is always so clever and entertaining. I had read most of the books in the series but had somehow missed this one and was delighted to have a new (to me) onetime read. If you like the others, you’ll like this one. If you’ve never read any of the series, I envy you. Get started and be prepared to chuckle all the way through!
I will recommend Robert B Parker any way you want to come at him. Spenser, Jesse Stone, even the westerns with Virgil and Cole; he’s just that great a read. Parker looks at the world through a sense of soft-hearted machismo that makes him the perfect tough guy hero while making him sucker for anyone in trouble. Of course, the thing that sets Spenser and his ilk truly above the rest is his intelligence and compassion for others. Even now that Parker has passed, Ace Atkins and others have picked up the baton and carried these characters forward with pride. Spenser and Jesse Stone might not be a perfect voice for this “Me Too” world, but they always side with the victims and the fight for justice never ends.
Vintage Parker – witty dialog, good, fast-paced story and a bit of a surprise ending on this one. I enjoyed the book.
Always love Robert B Parker. He and Hawk are the best. Pearl the wonder dog is on the job and Susan is, as always, elegant.
It was a fun read.
Really good read for light entertainment.
