Mary-Anne Lukin has never had it easy. Having survived the torments of abuse for far too long, it’s a miracle that life somehow managed to leave her with a little bit of hope—hope of a future filled with happiness. Max “MadDog” Duhart has lived more than one lifetime, earning the respect he’s due as the president of the Original Charter of Notorious Devils. Nevertheless, with life still yet to … still yet to live, he wants more than the regret that’s tarnished his past.
Their connection is instant, though they know they shouldn’t act on it—not with more than thirty years between them. Not with their families tied together by the club’s brotherhood.
Yet, there’s something about the sweet, broken woman that whispers of a fresh start for an old man. And while he may be rough and ruthless, she cannot deny the way she feels when she looks into his haunted blue eyes.
One phone call. One cry for help. One motorcycle ride, and life as they know it is never the same.

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!
I’m in love with MadDog and Mary-Anne. I really had my doubts at first but their chemistry was off the charts smokin hot!! MadDog sure is a horny SOB and dear Lord he has stamina. Lol! For his age he has definitely got it going on. I know some people may think the two of them together is gross because of their age but I loved it. His character sounds abso-freakin-lutely gorgeous and he treats Mary-Anne like a princess. I was kind of worried about him wanting to have children though, because at 60 years old and the stress from being President of the MC and the way he drinks and smoke weed he probably wouldn’t be around to see them graduate high school. Lol. I can’t wait to read West and Ivy’s story. I extremely recommend this series to everyone! The sex is amazing and the characters are smokin hot. Hayley does an amazing job in describing everything. I could picture it in my head so clearly. I laughed and I cried hard and at times I was ready to throw my Kindle across the room but I loved every minute of it. Lol! And Hayley, I dearly hope you will continue this series. I would love to see Grizz get his own story and some of the characters from MadDog’s MC chapter. I would love to read Teeny and Mammoth’s story and maybe something about Snake and the Canadian chapter. Please, Please, Please!
Mary-Anne Lukin survived and fled hell, leaving her hometown and her parents’ house, leaving behind a childhood and adolescence of physical and psychological abuse, the memories of which she still carries. She has built herself a life and career in California, and all goes well until her boyfriend, Kyle, begins to change his behavior. First with words, then with physical aggression. And the closest person to come to her rescue is the president of Notorius Devils MC’s main charter, MadDog.
Maxfield “MadDog” Duhart lived for the motorcycle club. Widowed for almost thirty years, even when married and despite loving his wife, his priority has always been the MC. After the death of his wife, his heart closed to love and at the age of sixty, with three grandchildren he expected anything but an uncontrollable desire to protect and dominate a woman younger than his son and with beautiful blue eyes, in and out of his room. Everything about her screams forbidden, but he doesn’t know if and how long he can hold back.
How do you know an author is good? When she brings you a problematic, controversial, totally taboo theme and convinces you to cheer for the couple. With an intense narrative and real conflicts, the book is anything but monotonous. It is practically impossible to drop. Some of Mary’s reactions and fears may seem exaggerated, but they are totally consistent with the personality of an adult woman who had so many problems and traumas in her childhood. And these failures will further enrich her plot growth and give new meaning to the word overcoming.
Looking for a man who knows what he wants? That fight for what he wants and damn the consequences? That conquers his desires, even if society says it is wrong, and that what he wants, he shouldn’t want? If your answer to these questions is yes, Max “MadDog” Duhart is your man.
Max and Mary were everything I was hoping they would be together. They had this amazing chemistry even with the 30+ age gap. Max was a loot more alpha then I would have thought: yes o took his age into account but he really was just like the other members. I liked that the progression of the romance was fast. It made the story more entertaining as opposed to if it was more of a slow burn. The issues I had in the last book weren’t really answered in this book like I hope they would be. It makes me sad because my mind keeps questioning those things. Even with that o still enjoyed it. The author really set up perfectly for the next book, which is Torch.
I’m hoping we get something different with this next second chance romance. As the series goes on I’m feeling like the feel of the story is the same. Guy realizes he wants the girl, they get together, guy worries the heroine is better off without him because something happens and she gets hurt. Hero pushes and then other members make them man up and then the heroine takes him back with out much trouble. While I like that, I hate it at the same time. It’s the same thing over and over. So fingers crossed the next book will bing a new twist that will keep me reading the series. 3 stars #2OCCJD
