Hang on tight. When it comes to love, this loyal soldier plays rough. “The sexy, alluring bad boys of the True Brothers MC will make your mouth water.”—New York Times bestselling author Heidi McLaughlin Amber: Two years ago I would’ve made a play for a guy like “Bam” in a heartbeat. That was before my father died in a puddle of blood in the middle of a parking lot, before I swore off his fellow … middle of a parking lot, before I swore off his fellow bikers and their stupid “business.” But I still need answers about what happened to my dad, which is why I’m poking around at a nightclub owned by the Russian mafia. And that’s where I run into Bam, who carries me out of the club in his ridiculously strong arms like I was True Brothers property.
Bam: Motorcycle club princess Amber Bennett is the last person I’d expect to see at a club like Howl. She’s flirting with some dangerous people, and it’s my duty to step in and protect her before she gets in over her head. Like I don’t have enough on my mind without cleaning up Amber’s drama. Besides, she’s the definition of off-limits. If only she weren’t so f***ing hot. And determined to take care of everything herself. And oddly vulnerable. Because when we cross the line, I’m forced to choose between my true family—or my true feelings.

Being the daughter of a True Brothers MC member doesn’t get you the answers you are looking for. All Amber wants to know is the scumbag who killed her father last year has paid for it. But the members will not tell her anything, so she is going to find the answers herself. She ends up at the club of the Russian Mafia and it is too late when she realizes that she should not be there. When the brothers from the MC show up, she is whisked out of the office. It makes her so mad when they take over every situation.
Bam is a True Brother and is all too eager to protect Amber. She is a club princess and that means she is off limits to him. But he will protect her with everything he has including his life. The more time he spends with her, the more he sees her true colors, she is independent, strong, vulnerable and so hot.
They find themselves drawn to each other but will they cross that line? Bam could lose his club brothers, the only family he has left, is it worth it? Is this true love or just lust?
I love a good MC story and each book seems to get better with each brother but I think Bam and Amber are my favorites so far. If you are looking for a good MC that will have you guessing what happens next, then you need to read this series. I love it and can’t wait to see what the next book is going to be about.

Fourth in this series and this is Hunter’s book, aka Bam Bam. After the brutal murder of Stitch in the parking lot, Stitch’s family is a bit left behind by the True Brothers MC. Amber, Stitch’s daughter, is seeking retribution and closure for her father’s death. She starts stirring up the club and the Russian bratva for answers on her father’s killer. Bam ends up having to protect Amber after the Russian’s son takes an interest in her. Realizing that Stitch’s family has been forgotten about, Bam makes sure the brothers start helping them out again. In the meantime, Amber, who swore she’d never get involved with a biker after her dad’s death, finds she’s drawn to Bam in all the ways she wishes she wasn’t. The two start out with a bit of a love-hate thing that turns to lust. But Amber isn’t someone the club will just let Bam “play” with, he has to claim her or leave her be. Bam having to choose between Amber and his brothers, who are his only family, made for good reading. I enjoyed Bam’s character a lot and Amber grew on me more and more. I can’t say this was my favorite and it felt a bit rushed at the end with an odd ambush by the rival gang. Also, a death that ties things up for Bam and Amber nicely but felt forced to me. Amber having to decide if she wants this MC life and all the violence and uncertainty is done nicely though and I felt for her and her mom in the end. I didn’t find any set up for the next brother in book five but I’m in for the next one.

This is a great read – definitely has a bit of a slow start but really picks up after the first few chapters. The hero in this book, Bam Bam, is probably one of my favorite characters in a long time – he’s swoon worthy.
Amber’s father was president of the True Brothers MC until he was murdered. Now, Amber wants nothing to do with the club as they’ve pretty much turned their backs on her and her mother, plus they’re not willing to give her details on her father’s death. On a mission to ensure that the man that killed her father was “properly taken care of,” Amber winds up at a bar owned by the Russian mafia and their scary leader, Ruslan, takes immediate interest in her – Bam Bam swoops in and gets her out of there. When Bam Bam realizes that Amber’s family hasn’t been taken care of since her father’s passing, he makes it his personal mission to change that, while also keeping her safe from Ruslan and keeping his growing feelings for her tamped down.
Though I loved Bam Bam’s character and he was my favorite, Amber’s character was also pretty great. She’s fierce, determined, and won’t let anyone get in her way when she’s on a mission. When she and Bam get together, they light the pages on fire with passion. This is my favorite book from the series so far. The absolute only thing I didn’t like about it was that I feel like an MC would never “forget” about a previous president’s family like they did Amber’s – on that same note, it’s definitely made up for. I think this is the first MC romance I’ve read (and I’ve read a lot) that the male was willing to give up his club for a woman – it was a refreshing change. I’m looking forward to more from Gillian Archer!

Mafia and tongues and threats to your balls. You sure know how to live.
Ha! How on earth does one get over a sexy Viking-looking caveman biker? You don’t.
If you’ve ever wondered about how Gillian Archer manages to keep people from their beauty sleep, let her introduce you to Bam Bam and Kitten, both the main characters in her fourth installment of the True Brothers MC series, Rough Ride.
MC princess and very-off-limits, Amber proves to be everything Bam doesn’t want or need in his life. He, however, reluctantly has to let her ride on the back of his bike to drop her off at home.
Bam is all long blonde hair and beard. But he’s also human and we find more and more of his layers removed as the story moves on.
Amber, feisty and strong and quick to tell you where you can jump off. She’s annoyed with being followed and more so by this blonde Viking-looking biker who seems just as irate as she is with the situation. She doesn’t let up too easily but given enough time, she finds the upside of being under Bam’s eyes.
It was sweet in that badass-biker-who-had-feelings-for-me-and-didn’t-want-to-piss-me-off kinda way.
Too bad there’s a Russian mafioso who can’t seem to read between or above any lines.
Things never go as they should and with a few unexpected twists and turns and wanting to punch through a wall yourself, things eventually go much, much better.
Bam is drawn in but Amber isn’t someone who can be used and tossed away like a toy he might get bored with, as his brothers who form the rest of his biker group are quick to remind him.
I’ve always been a smart-ass. I was just hiding it behind my raging paranoia and rampant stupidity.
But with a very important and altering decision to make, does he brave it for a chance to make the rest of his life one hell of a sweet ride with a woman who matches his stubborn and crazy or for the men who have been his closest family for as far back as he can remember?
This. Book. Is. So. Damn. Good.
It’s an epic-badass-biker-who-melts-your heart-kind of five star read!
YES!!! Finally get Bam’s story!!! After Amber tries to get answers to avenge her father’s deaath, this hot Thor-looking biker takes Amber, AKA Kitten, under his wing and vows to protect her.
Amber is a bit fiesty, and honery, but it is understandable after losing her father, a member of an MC, and not getting answers. Ruslan, a Russian, tries to entice Amber, but after Bam “claims” her, he doesn’t seem to back off, causing additional tension.
I enjoyed this MC book by Gillian Archer, and have read a couple others in this MC novel series, but this one can also be a stand alone.
It was easy to follow, and I would recommend it!
My first ever Gillian Archer read and I’m impressed! I really liked Bam, the strong, mostly silent, Viking biker. He took his commitments to family – blood or patched – very seriously. Amber was smart and hard-working with a well-balanced mix of savvy and sass that was appropriate for her age, while not being annoying. Together, they’re an unexpectedly perfect match.
MC romance can be a tough genre to navigate. I want it to feel “real” but I don’t want it to be too “real” – you know? I like the balance that Archer struck with the True Brothers. The focus was mostly on the brotherhood, rather than club business. There were scenes of their criminal activity, but none of it violated my sense of justice so it wasn’t an issue. Unlike a lot of MC romance, there was very little talk of club chicks, just a couple of funny stories over beers among the guys. There were no scenes of random clubhouse debauchery.
Loses a star because the hot guy on the cover bears NO resemblance to the hot bearded biker who stars in the story.
Guns wounds, bullet holes and crazy Russian Mafia…. What more could you ask for?!
This is my first novel by this author but it is very entertaining.
I can’t say I have a favorite character but I didn’t love the Amber and Bam.
He is a newly patched member, while she is one of the club princesses. Which is a huge stay away from title.
She has so much fire and sass that he realizes all she is doing to stay afloat, that he gets super protective of her.
The second in command in the Russian Mafia takes an interest in Amber very early in the story. He drops surprise after surprise with not everything being pleasant.
It’s easy to be with these characters. They demand to me heard.
Rough Ride is Bam’s story and rather he realized it or not, his life to was about to get complicated. And what better way than with Stitch’s princess daughter Amber. Amber dropped out of college to take care of her grief stricken mother and wanted answers about her father’s death. Soon realizing going to the Russian mafia was the wrong thing to do. Bam has sworn to take care of her but can’t seem to stop thinking about her, allowing their attraction to go further than what it should have. Now the club members are warning him, the Mafia and rival gang Wild Riders are on their back. Who knows Amber and Bam just might make it together!
So this is my first Gillian Archer novel and can I just say, you are amazing. Over the years I have read many MC novels and this was my absolute favorite one ever!!! The twists and turns in the book, I changed favorite characters several times through out the book and toward the end I finally settled on Bam, He is a big bite of badass biker with a gooey caramel center. In this story the author takes us on a long ride down a winding road and as we go the details of characters personalities, quirks and pasts slowly unfold before us. I had a hard time pulling myself back into the real world after sitting and reading Rough Ride, even if I had only had a few minutes to read. Cannot wait to read more from this author.
Rough Ride, the 4th book in the True Brothers MC series, was so good. This book is Stitch’s Daughter Amber and Bam’s story. I love seeing them get their HEA. In the last book my heart broke when Stitch was killed. So seeing the aftermath of his death and how strong his family ending up becoming was bitter sweet. Bam in the last book made some mistakes and felt like he let his brothers down. I loved seeing Bam as a strong protector in this book. He was sexy, tough, and loyal. He loved hard and put it all on the line for his woman. I loved Amber too. She was sweet and sassy. She loved her family and gave everything to hold them together after losing her father. I loved Bam and Amber together. There was such a great build up to their relationship. They had so much sexual tension that when they got together it was smokin’ hot. I really loved the plot of this book. I loved how Bam stepped up to protect Amber from her crazy Russian mob boss stalker. Speaking of Russian mafia bosses, am I the only one that really liked Ruslan’s crazy stalker self? I mean I don’t know why but I found him hot and sweet in his own crazy kinda way.
This book was a great read for me. It would have been a 5 star read but towards the end Amber had a moment when she should have stood by her man, but she ran and it really left a bitter taste in my mouth. Other than that this book had tons of action, romance, and sexy bad bikers. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Oh, this one is good! Amber Bennett is looking for answers on how her father died and the club is not giving her answers, so she goes searching and ends up getting the attention of the Russian mafia. Now she has an unwanted Russian stalker but she also has the protection of Bam and the True Brothers. Bam stepped up and even though he didn’t want any woman on the back of his bike, Amber ends up there and there she stays. This book is full of chemistry and romance and so much fun and bantering the pages just kept on turning. This is a great series and not the typical MC book but I definitely recommend it. This can be read as a standalone but I do recommend the rest of the series too.
Quickly paced and well written, Rough Ride is the 4th book in a series of standalones. Rough Ride was my introduction to the series and I had no trouble diving right in and staying there.
Amber is a woman looking for answers and grasping at the strings holding her family together. When she finally gets close to those answers, Bam swoops in to get her out of there and their chemistry is explosive. Amber is tough and determined. Bam is just swoon-worthy. He’s the tall, silent type, he can be ruthless, but is gentle.
Overall, Rough Ride was a low angst story. The book moves quickly and captures the reader. Rough Ride made me so excited to go check out the earlier books in this series! Recommended to the reader looking for a safe MC read.
OMG!!! You know that moment when you open your Kindle and the next book. But you kind of “forgot” that you had the book. And then you were like, “wait a sec, didn’t this series end?”. And then you start reading it, and you’re like, “HOLY. MOLY. YEEEEEEEES!!!!”, because you realize that it’s THAT series. The series that you find yourself re-thinking about. Yep. That’s EXACTLY how I felt with this one.
DISCLAIMER – Although I won’t be “spoiling” anything within this review, I reference things in the previous book that could be considered a spoiler if you haven’t read it yet. So stop reading this if you haven’t read the other books first. Just sayin…
Amber is the daughter of Switch. Yep, THE Switch. Tank’s best friend and the one that no one wants to talk about. But Amber needs answers. She needs to know that the guy who took his life is suffering worse than she and her family are. That’s how she ends up in the one place she shouldn’t be in. Talking to the one guy who she shouldn’t be talking to, and setting up a chain of events that will forever change her life.
Bam isn’t a prospect anymore. He’s a full voting member of the True Brothers MC and damn proud of it. Having his Brother’s backs and knowing that they have his is more than he could ask for considering where he’s come from. And he’s willing to put all of it on the line once he gets to know Amber. Because now that he knows her, now that he’s seen her, he’ll do just about anything to keep her not only safe, but his.
YOU GUYS!!!!! I’ve enjoyed each and every one of these books. But this one! This one had me all wrapped up in bed, flipping these pages, gasping and crying and laughing and smiling and sighing. This story was so much. I loved Amber’s drive and courage. I loved Bam’s protectiveness and heart. These two really were made for each other. This wasn’t just True Brothers MC, this was True Love.
And why does it feel like the end? Where the last one made me “think” it was over, this one “feels” like it’s over. Geez. I actually just got really sad. I hope not. I’m honestly in love with these guys!!!!
Bikers are one of my favorite romance sub-genres, and this one was very well written. I didn’t much like the opening scene, but since a great deal of the drama in the story revolved around the ensuing pseudo love triangle, I understand why it started that way. After that, once Bam is introduced, the story gets right down to it and it’s a thrilling ride to the HEA.
Amber has had enough of the biker mentality of keeping their women in the dark, so she’s determined to find out what happened to the man who killed her father, regardless of the risks involved with asking questions of the Russian Mafia. Bam is at first assigned to get her safely home, but then he starts to put himself at the front of her protection detail even though she makes it clear she has no interest in following in her mother’s footsteps.
This story shows us the full three-dimensional life of guys who are most often written off as “just bikers.” Amber and Bam find their own way, regardless of the club’s involvement. The author depicts the MC lifestyle with compassion as well as gritty realism. Despite being book 4 in a series, it works perfectly as a standalone and doesn’t leave any loose ends. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
ROUGH RIDE By Gillian Archer
Rough Ride was the first book I have read by Gillian Archer, but it will not be the last. This is the story of an MC and some of its members. Bam is a newly patched member and Amber is the daughter of a member who was gunned downed by a rival MC. After he meets her takes on her protection as a club princess. You don’t have to have read the other books first to enjoy this one, I hadn’t but I think it would give you some background on things. I very much enjoyed this book.
What an emotional and tense book, I couldn’t put it down. This was a new author to me and I will definitely be reading more from her.
This book has it all if you like the MC world. There are brothers, rivals, loyalties, love, sex, anger and family. Bam has only been a brother for a few short years and still feels like a newbie. He doesn’t try to ruffle feathers and continues on being a good soldier. This all changes when he is tasked to watch over a fallen members daughter.
Amber is just trying to get answers concerning her fathers death and ends up taking matters into her own hands which causes a huge trickle down effect for the club. She tries so hard to be independent and tries to distance herself from her fathers club but in times of crisis she runs to them. My only negative comment is, I didn’t agree with Amber’s decision to keep the pictures from Bam.
I am so glad I got a chance to read this book
I received a free, advanced copy of this book from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Previously, Stitch, the President of the True Brothers MC, was gunned down. While the club members took care of the assailants, and took Stitches’s son Jackson in as a prospect , they did not keep an eye on his wife and daughter. Brittney fell apart so Amber had to quit college and take a job as a cocktail waitress at a nightclub, to cover the mortgage and pay the bills. She is very anger that the new President, would only tell her that the murderer was taken care, but not any details, which she needs to move on, so she goes to the Russian mafia who took care of the killer, for more information. Not a good move. The son, Ruslan, takes a liking to Amber and stalks her with gifts.
New member, Bam is assigned to watch her. Bam recently lost his grandmother, the only family who ever cared about him, and was mentored by Maverick as a teenager and sponsored by him for the club.. He isn’t thrilled with the assignment of being Amber’s bodyguard and she wasn’t nothing to do with him, but after he realizes what has happened to Brittney, and reports back to the club members so she gets help, Amber softens up to him and he begins to feel like she is his. But nothing is ever that simple.
I know nothing about motorcycles or MC, but have nonetheless enjoyed reading this series, because of the cleverly developed characters and interesting plots. One caveat: While the covers on the previous books reflected the character, the model on one not only misses the mark but is the exact opposite of how Bam is describer, Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Whoever picked the cover, clearly did not bother to read the book.
I adored Bam and Amber! Amber’s story had me in tears because its so heartbreaking and I loved that she stood up to the MC brothers that abandoned her and her mom. I loved Bam too! Once these two admit their feelings, its total #relationshipgoals!
Amber Bennett is searching for answers, ones that will put her on the path of finding out who murdered her father and permanently broke her family. Her search leads her to the door of a seedy looking bar in a desolate area, and puts in the presence of a very dangerous man with lots of connections and lots of resources; surely he can help her find what she craves to know. But before she can really lay any groundwork for her little plan, they are interrupted by her fathers MC club, and within minutes of their arrival she’s tossed over Bam’s shoulder and hauled out the door, and far away from the man who might be able to help her with her search. Now how is she supposed to learn the truth about her fathers death…
As soon as Bam enters Howl and spies motorcycle princess Amber Bennett cozied up to a very dangerous mafia man named Ruslan he can’t help but walk across the bar and pull her out of his embrace and race towards safety. She has no idea who she is in the company of, or the power he holds, and Bam isn’t about to see this beautiful woman fall victim to Ruslan’s dangerous life… but Ruslan isn’t about to give up that easily. With danger constantly lurking and Ruslan sniffing around her, Bam soon finds himself spending a lot more time with Amber than he ever anticipated, and before long this trouble-making beauty starts to work her way into his steel trap of a heart. And that’s a whole new kind of trouble that he doesn’t need, or does he?
Within the pages Rough Ride lies an addictive, and pulse pounding tale that is certain to have you blushing one minute and on the edge of your seat the next… it’s downright mesmerizing! It’s been a while since my last visit with the men of the True Brothers MC club and I have to say it didn’t take no time at all for me to make myself right at home with them, they are quite a welcoming, (and oh so sexy) bunch. Bam was quite the character, he has a tough gritty side, but every now and again you see a glimpse of a caring and sweet gentleman there too, and of course he is as smooth as all get out too… the man is a gifted dirty talker that is for certain! This was such a wonderful addition to the series, it had moments of suspense, moments that spoke to the heart, and of course moments to awaken your passionate side… all around good read! Highly recommend!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Amber’s father, a True Brother club member, was shot a year ago. She is adamant about finding information leading to the person who was responsible but has been stonewalled by the club. When she questions someone from the Russian mafia about it, things take a slight turn. And suddenly she’s being thrown over Bam’s shoulder and ushered out of the meeting. The last thing she wants is to get involved with a club member but Bam’s constant vigilance slowly begins to wear her down.
Bam knew who Amber was, had even seen her a time or two. Nevertheless, he wasn’t prepared for the instant attraction he felt when he came face to face with her. But she’s club property and a club princess to boot and he’s not worthy of her. When things heat up with Amber’s Russian suitor he has to take a stand and then hopes his brother’s won’t kill him for it.
I loved Bam so much! He’s just a great big hunky teddy bear when it comes to Amber. Once his decision to claim her is made he doesn’t fight it. He was so sweet and gentle and even a bit humorous as he walked her through the beginning of their relationship. Amber was living with anger from the shooting but when the opportunity to accept Bam’s ownership arrived, she didn’t hesitate. Unfortunately, when things turn nasty she is thrown back into the past and an up-close and personal view of what her future could look like.
This was a fast paced read with a nice bit of steam and some decent chemistry. I loved the brothers as well as Amber’s best friend. It’s actually a rather low angst story with just a bit of drama. It gives us a tiny look at club life with the True Brothers but I wouldn’t have minded more. This is a great read for some chill time with a comfortable book that requires little more than for the reader to just sit back and enjoy.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the second book I have read of Ms. Archer’s and the second in this series and wow, what a great series. I need to go back and read the first two. I loved everything about Bam. He is definitely the Viking as he is described (the picture on the cover is nothing like his description in the book, he is better looking from the story’s description). Both Amber and Bam have had rough rides the last year and seeing how they dealt with the stress was the highlight of the story. Bam is definitely the rock that Amber needs but will she stick by him? Hey, I even kind of liked Ruslan. A bit creepy but still likeable in his own way. And oh yeah, tissues might be needed.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
