From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Ashley comes a new story in her Chaos series… her to his brothers to mete out their form of justice.
But really, Rosie has long been denying that, as she drifted away from her Bounty, she’s been falling in love with Everett “Snapper” Kavanagh, a Chaos brother. Snap is the biker-boy-next door with the snowy blue eyes, quiet confidence and sweet disposition who was supposed to keep her safe…and fell down on that job.
For Snapper, it’s always been Rosalie, from the first time he saw her at the Chaos Compound. He’s just been waiting for a clear shot. But he didn’t want to get it after his Rosie was left bleeding, beat down and broken by Bounty on a cement warehouse floor.
With Rosalie a casualty of an ongoing war, Snapper has to guide her to trust him, take a shot with him, build a them…
And fold his woman firmly in the family that is Chaos.
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

I have to tell you. I missed Them of Chaos and their old ladies. This group of people just knows how to insinuate themselves into my heart.
Rosalie is good, through and through. I’m not sure how Snap held out, knowing how much he ek wanted her, needed her. But when she needed him most and cut him out, my heart broke. His calm and generous spirit just radiates from him and showered Rosalie with care and a sense of safety.
There’s always been more between them. An undeniable connection and it’s beautiful. It’s serene. Oh, there’s passion but the love shared creates this serenity that cloaks them, even when things are going to erupt within or around Chaos.
I loved Rosalie and Snap. But that ending killed me!! I’m dying for the next book. Even the teaser of Hound’s story did not alleviate my stress over the ending. I’m enticed for what’s to come for Hound and Keely because it will be laden with pain and hurt. But now I’m left hanging to find out about Snap!! It’s torture, I say!!

I am a big fan of Ms. Ashley, so no surprise that I found this to be a great addition to the series – and, as is the intention of the 1001 Dark Knights books, a perfect starter for a new reader. I love that there are always little nods to other series – here we get a taste of Tex, and acknowledgement from another woman that Nightingale is truly the most handsome man!
To a fan of the series, Rosalie was most definitely not a favoured character in Chaos, but we are soon brought up to speed with her true value, her issues, and her pain. She may have been given a rough ride, but Snap is definitely a silver lining to the cloud.
Tying in all the strands from earlier books and giving us a move forward in the background plot, as well as giving us a new romance is very clever… but really? That ending? I do hope that the new book is all but ready to be released!!!!!

Rough Ride was the perfect, snack-sized tease in the world of Chaos Motorcycle Club. If you haven’t read the Chaos series, I highly recommend it!
If you have read the series then you should be able to recall Rosalie. Rosalie has had a rough go at life: she lost her father, was dumped for another woman, and then THIS!
Snapper has been patiently waiting for his opportunity…
This was a quick, complete read. I loved the mention of other Kristen Ashley characters. I loved the women of Chaos coming out in full force. I wanted more to advance the Chaos storyline, and in that I was a bit disappointed. Overall this was a great introduction to the world and men of Chaos!

Rosalie has a history with Chaos M.C., having previously dated Shy and I love that we get to see her get her own romance. There is a little controversy to this story because Rosalie and Snapper form their friendship and start falling for each other while Rosalie is still involved with her man Throttle, from a rival bikie gang. I didn’t mind this at all because I loved Snapper. He is a solid, dependable, down to earth guy.
I’ve found with most of the Chaos books something happens to really make me mad or gets under my skin. In this case there were two things. One was Chaos insisting on riding in to help, the other was people trying to set Rosalie straight. Both peeved me, as the woman had been through hell – give her a damn break to get her head together! I really wanted to protect her. Ultimately, Chaos riding in to save the day is what they do, and in Rough Ride we get to see how the members of the club and their families look after each other and it is pretty amazing.
Snapper and Rosalie are another wonderful couple to add to the Chaos family but after reading the epilogue I’m concerned about what happens next. I am equal parts excited and worried about what is to come in Wild Like the Wind, the next book in the Chaos series, which is due out on 31 July 2018.

This was a great read and I really enjoy this series. This author never disappoints. I definitely can’t wait until the next book in this series, especially after that ending and then that sneak peek. I recommend this book, this author and this series.
‘For years you’ve had a rough ride, what happened recently, just the most recent – with me, that rough ride is gonna end, baby.’
This is only one of the many glorious declarations made by Snapper that illustrates exactly the kind of man Rosalie Holloway is failing for despite the hellish situation she’s gotten herself in and the repercussions of her betrayal to Bounty and the man she thought she’d spend her life with before she found proof that he’s not the one who’s ‘perfect’ for her.
In my opinion, Everett ‘Snapper’ Kavanaugh is not a typical Chaos Motorcycle Club brother, but it’s not because he’s not badass or doesn’t exude alpha maleness; it’s more because he has a sweet disposition. And, it’s not to say that Snapper is ‘soft.’ It’s just that he knows that Rosalie needs to be handled with care; he understands the hell she has endured and he refuses to do anything to force her to continue on the ‘rough ride’ she’s been on since her father’s death.
I have to admit that I didn’t know if I was going to be able to accept Rosalie as the heroine of a Chaos story, especially given the circumstances she meets Snapper under and the unease that surrounds her situation due to the fact she started with Shy then moved on to a Bounty Motorcycle Club Biker who proceeded to beat her and allow all of his brothers a go with her broken body then find her ‘perfect’ man while she’s attempting to help her current man get out from under the illegal dealings his club and he are entrenched in…but I do have to say that KA allows readers to understand the meaning and motive behind Rosalie’s actions and what it seems she’s been searching for ever since she lost the one man who protected and loved her unlike anyone she suspects every will again.
Motorcycle Man is one of my favorite books of ALL time; it’s what introduced me to a group of biker brothers who have been through hell and back and still find a way to protect what’s theirs and attempt to ride free and easy despite the maelstroms that look to wreak havoc on their lives and on their club.
Like all Chaos books, the brotherhood is showcased in Rough Ride – the fact that they take care of their own…they’re responsible for one another…they atone when they’re in the wrong and when a brother claims a woman, they are ‘owned’ by the club, which means that there’s a support system in place that will never waiver.
Rough Ride feels a little bit like a segue into the next Chaos book, Hound’s story…because as Snapper and Rosalie get things figured out between them, proving that Rosalie’s ‘rough ride,’ for the most part, is over, the club’s chaos is getting more dangerous and inevitable, forcing action to be taken that might just cost the club and those they love the roughest ride of them all.
4.5 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)
I read Own the Wind by Kristen Ashely when it first released years ago and fell in love with Shy and the Chaos family. Shy is my first love, but after reading Rough Ride, I have mad love for Snapper! I don’t read a lot of MC books, but I love Chaos. Kristen writes these characters with heart, depth, passion and values. They love their club. They love their women. Snapper and Rosie have a history. He’s had a thing for her since he saw her with Shy years ago. But the time was never right. Then he was working with her against Bounty. Long phone calls learning about each other. Nothing physical. Then she was taken down by her ex and left bloody and beaten. Snapper vows to protect her at all costs and then he’s making his move. Finally claiming his woman. Rosie is not as ready as Snapper. She’s afraid. She doesn’t want Snapper to think he’s a rebound because he’s not. He’s everything. Can she look past the scars in the mirror and trust Snapper with her heart? Will Snapper give her the words she needs to see his love is real? Oh man. I loved this story! Snapper is everything. From his sexy good looks, his soft spoken words, his domineering way and oh, the hair. I love the hair. He’s honest, gorgeous, forceful and sexy (it needed to be mentioned twice). I loved the way he talked to her. Telling her she’s his woman. Telling her how it’s going to be. And when he called her honey…I melted. Every time! Rosie is stronger than she thinks. She may be bent, but she’s not broken. She just had to let it all sink in to see that Snapper is it for her. I loved watching their story unfold. It was a beautiful rough ride that left me smiling and wanting more!
Anyone who knows me knows that KA is pure comfort for me. There is something about her books that just do it for me. They are glorious and just have that magic touch. She is my kryptonite. Her Chaos series is an old favorite of mine. Tack and Tyra, Shy and Tab, Joker and Carissa, Hop and Lanie and High and Millie all hold a special place in my heart and are re-read favorites. Now Snapper and Rosalie hold that honor. This novel was glorious! Their chemistry was fiery and the syoryline was just so consuming. I could not get enough!
Informing to Chaos on their rival club—her man’s club, Bounty—Rosalie Holloway knew the stakes. But when she was left for dead after a brutal beat down by her ex, she had enough. Enough of the MC life. Enough of relying on a man for protection and enough of love. It didn’t matter that she was falling in love with Everett “Snapper” Kavanagh, a Chaos brother. It didnt matter that she was becoming more and more in the Chaos fold. She wanted a change and a new life. But what she didn’t expect was Snapper giving chase to the woman he’s loved from the first time he met her. And in pure layman’s terms to the KA novice that means endearing moments and swoony heartfelt actions of a Chaos man out to claim his woman.
God. This novel was amazing and just everything. I seriously never wanted it to end. I loved Snappers devotion and determination to make Rosalie his and the honest depiction of a man who saw his endgame and moved heaven and earth to make her his. I serilisly loved seeing the Chaos family again and that ending?! OMG I need to know what’s happening!! I am so excited!! Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula
ROUGH RIDE by Kristen Ashley is instalment 4.5 and novella in the author’s Chaos MC series (a spin-off from the author’s Dream Man series) and the latest instalment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights anthology. This is twenty eight year old waitress Rosalie Holloway, and thirty three year old MC member Everett ‘Snapper’ Kavanagh’s story line. ROUGH RIDE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Rosalie was first introduced in book one OWN THE WIND-Shy and Tabby’s story line.
SOME BACKGROUND: In book one OWN THE WIND Rosalie Holloway’s heart was broken when the biker that she loved (Shy Cage) fell in love with the Chaos MC president’s daughter Tabitha Allen. The daughter of a biker herself, Rosalie was desperate to find the love her mother and father once enjoyed before his death three years earlier, but finding love with a member from a rival MC meant Rosalie’s allegiances would be tested again and again.
WARNING: ROUGH RIDE contains scenes (some implied) of graphic violence that may not be suitable for all readers.
Told from first person point of view (Rosalie) and third person (Snapper), ROUGH RIDE focuses on the friends to lovers, building relationship between Rosalie Holloway and Everett ‘Snapper’ Kavanagh in the days and weeks following the beating and attack against our story line heroine by a man she once loved and the Bounty MC. Undercover for the Denver biker Chaos MC, Rosalie reported back what little information she could about the Bounty MC-a rival gang who vowed to make Rosalie suffer when it was discovered that she ratted back to the Chaos gang. What ensues is the building romance between Snapper and Rosalie, and the potential fall out as Rosalie begins to pull away from the people who vowed to save and protect her from the Bounty MC- people who needed to atone for letting down our story line heroine.
Rosalie Holloway barely survived the beating endured by the Bounty MC, a beating meant to send a message to the members of Chaos but a beating that provoked a violent reaction as most women are protected by honor and code-Women. Kids. Bike. Freedom. Vowing to protect Rosalie with his life, Snapper begins a slow seduction of the woman that has called to his heart since the first time they met
The relationship between Snapper and Rosalie has always been one of mutual attraction; a palpable sexual interest but Rosalie kept looking for what she lost- a replacement for the father she loved with all of her heart. From Shy Cage to rival MC member Throttle Beck, Rosalie was desperate to find love one way or another but it wasn’t until Beck discovered Rosalie’s betrayal did Snapper make a move to claim Rosalie as his own. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.
There is a very large ensemble cast of supporting and secondary characters including most of the Chaos MC: Shy and Tabby; Joker, Carissa and Travis: Lanie, Hop and Nash; Chaos president Kane ‘Tack’ Allen and his wife Tyra Masters; Logan ‘High’ Judd and Millie; Roscoe, Hop, Rush, Boz , Hopper Kincaid as well as Rosalie’s mother Renae; and several members of the Bounty MC including Rosalie’s ex boyfriend Gerard “Throttle’ Beck.
ROUGH RIDE is an emotional, heart breaking and sexy story line. The premise is complex, edgy and energetic; the characters are colorful and charismatic; the romance is intimate, tender and captivating. ROUGH RIDE is an energetic and sensitive tale about one woman looking for love in all of the wrong places.
