Growly rancher hero, emotional firestorm, and tear-your-heart-out sweetness. It’s ALL here in this rough new ride into true love by Lauren Landish! A human bulldozer named Bruce takes his second chance at love with the girl who got away by the throat. Single mama Allyson never forgot the broad shouldered former football beast she loved, but can she trust him with her heart? It’s timeless, original, and intense. I love how Lauren brings together two hearts long denied with a side of country lovin’ plus one badass mama who knows when to smack some sense into the uber-alpha Tannen boys! This second chance read is rough and wild in all the best ways. One-click now. It’s FREE in Kindle Unlimited!
Landish won the Championship with this kick-off Book 1 in the Tannen Boys series, Rough Love!
I loved Landish’s Bennett Boys series. And, while excited this storyline was ‘continuing’ with the new Tannen Boys series, I wasn’t convinced Landish would be able to pull it off, that is without the Tannen books seeming to be repetitious, & the only real difference being the character names, AKA same story, just different H&h names. BUT, my concern was unfounded & I should have known with a pro like Landish, she would pull off this Tannen Boys series as fresh & exciting. This new series may be even better than the Bennett Boys series, after this awesome kick-off with Rough Love. Will just have to wait and see after all three Tannen Boys books are released. I don’t want to give away any of the storyline away in my review because Landish’s books are that amazing, but will say I was hooked from the first chapter of Bruce & Allyson’s long, but hard-earned, captivating, exciting HEA. While I think the term ‘Must Read’ is sometimes overused, Lauren Landish’s Rough Love is Definitely a Must Read, after all, how can a reader go wrong with a cross between the sports romance genre & the cowboy romance genre. Bruce is a football stud (al la sports genre) while also a cowboy; he is jock …… but all seeing, quiet …….yet all knowing, intense, sexy, commanding, a 100% hot alpha male ….yet still sweet & swoon-worthy! Just a well-rounded book boyfriend. Don’t miss out on Rough Love, this one is a standalone, and can be read as one, but personally I would highly recommend all the books in both the Bennett Boys series & now Landish’s latest Tannen Boys series!!
Absolutely an amazing story. If you love a second chance romance, they you must read Bruce and Allyson’s story. I couldn’t wait too read Bruce’s story and let me say I wasn’t disappointed at all. Bruce will definitely make you swoon hard. Really an amazing story they had me hooked.
Rough Love by Lauren Landish a five-star read that will save you. This is the first novel in the Tannen Boys series, it is a spin off from the Bennett Boys series, but they can be read separately, but I have to be honest I have loved them all. This time we get to see more of Bruce Tannen and we get to get underneath his skin, and we get to see what made him into Brutal Tannen football player extraordinaire. Bruce shows us his hidden heart, he shows us just because you are named Brutal doesn’t mean you have to be savage. Allyson Meyers has a past, and when no one else will step up she will do what she needs to help her son grow and do what he wants. This is a great story and one that shows us what love can do.
Rough Love is hard on the heart, easy on the hormones and delicious for the soul. The Bennett boys have nothing on the Tannen men. Landish keeps emotions on high alert with swoon worthy romance. Bruce and Allyson had a love they thought would last forever. Too bad life taught them otherwise. Young love brought them nothing but adult heartache. However, when it comes to the heart, true love won’t be denied. Years later, the football star is about to show his first love that in life and love second chances are worth fighting for. From alpha to heartthrob, Bruce (Brutal) Tannen shows off his sensitive side. Top Notch, book boyfriend material.
I love a powerfully emotional read and this book sure was one. Your own heart will definitely but put through its paces as Bruce and Allyson’s story unfolds. The tension is thick and the chemistry steamy but there is also a strong underlaying level of sweetness to this angst filled tale. My heart ached for both of the characters in this moving second chance romance. These two have plenty of baggage that must be addressed and dealt with on the road to a HEA.
This book has everything I love. Second chance romance, big, sexy man with a soft heart, adorable little boy and his mom who is strong and sweet and lots of angst. Add to that all the Bennet boys from previous books and you have a page turner. Bruce and Allysons love story is so steamy and sweet. I loved this book si much I stayed up late just so I could finish it!
Second Time Around…
Sometimes love needs a second chance because it wasn’t ready the first time. This is exactly what happened to Bruce Tannen and Allyson Meyers. They were so young and fell hard in love with each other, but it just was not meant to be. Bruce to this day still holds onto the heartache of the one woman he has ever loved 10 years later. If they knew then what they know now, the years would not have been wasted. They both get a second chance when Allyson returns to her hometown. But she is not the same young girl that Bruce knew and loved. She is now a single mom with a son in tow.
Bruce sees a change in her that goes beyond her maturity and being responsible for her son. Her spark for life has dimmed and he is determined to find out what dulled her shine. He cannot let her slip through his fingers again. Their deep chemistry for each other is still there, but however Bruce feels for Allyson, he needs to give her the reins and let her be in charge of where they go from here on in.
It was a hoot seeing the Bennett and Tanner men all together with Mama Louise at the helm. I fell in love with Allyson’s son Cooper. Seeing the dynamics of Bruce, Allyson and Cooper together had me rooting for them and that they would become a family.
I loved Lauren’s ‘Bennett Boys Ranch’ series, and this spin off series,’Tannen Boys’, is off to a flying start with Bruce Tannen’s story. We met all those grouchy Tannen boys in the Bennett series, and I loved them. All three of the Tannen brothers are rough and ready, using their fists first, and asking questions later, but oh my, they’re a lovable, protective bunch, and that includes Bruce Tannen, a potty mouthed, hard as nails farmer who never discusses feelings. When he comes across a bunch of 8 year old kids at a football practice being a little bit too rough and tumble, he wasn’t expecting to become their football coach, but it happens, and we get to see he’s actually a bit of a softie at heart. It’s not too long before he finds out that the mother of one of these boys is the son of his childhood sweetheart, his one true love, Allyson Meyers. A fun read, those Bennett and Tannen boys are so rough around the edges, in the best possible way. I loved the family moments on the ranch, in the bar, and at the dinner table. Mama Louise sure knows how to keep them all in line, with some hilarious repercussions. Allyson and her super sweet son Cooper are soon taken under her wing, but Allyson has a lot of demons to contend with, as much as she wants Bruce, she’s not sure she can deal with more heartache or hurt. A wonderful story, fantastic characters and everything I could ever want in a romance novel. I was addicted from the get-go. Second chance romance at its best. It is entirely possible to read this new series independently, it does however give you a better understanding of all the characters if you’ve read the Bennett boys beforehand. All the books in both series are standalones.
I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
I read an advanced copy for an honest review.
When we met the Tannen brothers, in the Bennet Boys books, you were prepared to hate them for life!
This is the story of Bruce (Or Brutal) a Cowboy and a farmer who lost the love of his life 10 years ago. He just worrks on the farm, the the Bennets now own and helps his sister out. He happens to notice a group of larger boys picking on a smaller boy, in a park and that just doesn’t sit right with him. After breaking up the fight, The coach of the team recognizes him from high school and asks him to please help coach the Pee Wee football.
The mother of the boy being picked on, just happens to be the girl who broke Bruce’s heart 10 years ago. The tension between these two is so thick you can cut it with a knife!
Allyson (the mother) has moved backed to town to start a new life. She has no idea that Bruce is still living there. She has walls so high around her, it’s amazing that her son’s love can penetrate her fortress.
This is a great book about misunderstatings, second chances and standing up for the person that you want to be. I loved the way that Alpha Bruce let Allyson “Take control” of how things would proceed between and allow her to unfurl her wings on her own.
I loved how the Bennets and the Tannens are starting to mesh and become a “clan”
I can’t wait to see which Tannen will lose/gain his heart next.
LOVED this second chance romance from one of my top one click authors! Ms. Landish shows why she’s a one click for me in this book. Oh how much did Bruce “Brutal” completely OWN my heart by the end of this book?!?! Actual tears shed for him and Al. The kids angle was so gripping as well, who doesn’t love some kid humor in a book? Lots of Mom jokes and hijinx thrown in any time the thoughts got too deep. I loved that they didn’t just try and get back what they had, because what you have at 18 is vastly different than what you can have at 30, you have different needs, wants, and desires, you are more grown into who you WILL be and looking at forever looks different after kids enter the picture and you have to plan and adjust for that. Loved Mama Louise! I hope she’s in all the Tannen boys books. Brutal’s mouth is dripping FIRE through the whole thing, love Love LOVE me a dirty talker, and a dirty talking cowboy to boot, jackpot! Al comes a long way in this book, and even those who don’t connect with her sweet character for whatever reason will appreciate and love the development she goes through and the strength of her character. Just an all around feel good romance everyone will enjoy!
4 star Review Rough Love (Tannen Boys #1) by Lauren Landish
AUDIO REVIEW:
Book one in the Tannen Boys series and was an entertaining story which is narrated by Tor Thom and Carly Robbins who portray Bruce (Brutal) Tannen and Allyson Meyer. This is a second chance at love story that ticked the boxes for me.
Allyson is the woman who walked away but now fate puts them in one another’s path again. Bruce is shocked at how much she has changed, she is a former shadow of herself and he is disturbed. The struggle whether to help Allyson is very real. Can they work it out this time and in doing so forgive and come to terms with the past?
This was a steamy, at times emotional and heart warming story and one that I enjoyed. The narrators did a great job bringing the story to life for me.
2 stars . DNF – this book simply didn’t appeal to me.
Bruce “Brutal” Tannen and Allyson have a history. High-school sweethearts who think that together forever is how it will always be. But, things aren’t always different once high-school is over and you are thrust into the life of an adult. Things happen to tear Brace and Allyson’s happy ending to shreds, taking Allyson far from Bruce’s love and trust. Allyson feels no different in return. 10 years later, Allyson returns to her hometown with a divorce and a son. Just wanting to raise her son right and give him a better life then the one she left, she finds herself crashing directly into the path of her lost love, Bruce Tannen. HEA is attainable, but it tends to have the hardest obstacles. Overcoming what is behind them and finding a new togther with who they have become is the story you get. There is plenty of angst, plenty of heat, lots of love for a little boy and a misunderstanding to stab needles into your heart.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and was happy to start a series at the beginning, since I hadn’t read the preceding Bennett Boys series, it took quite some time to understand the family dynamic in this one. I also seem to be on tear–the last 4 novels I’ve read and reviewed have all related to domestic abuse and violence, and I wasn’t expecting this novel to be more of the same from reading the blurb. For several reasons, I cannot give this one more than 2.5 stars, and almost gave it two. Here’s the heads up–if domestic violence, rough sex and foul language are triggers for you, don’t even consider reading this novel, in which I doubt there’s a single page missing the “f” word.
Bruce Tanner, the hero, was the star of his high school football team, almost made it to the pro leagues. and was the local football hero. He couldn’t get through college and is now working as a farm hand. His high school sweetheart, Allyson, did go off to college, and not long after, they had a bad break-up, but she’s now back in her hometown with her 8-year-old son, Cooper, although when Bruce stops his truck to break up a couple of older kids who were getting rough with a smaller one, he soon learns that Allyson is Cooper’s mother and that she’s back in town. Since I’m not a fan of team sports, and because much of Rough Love concerns itself with Bruce’s former love, her son, Cooper, and Bruce getting involved coaching Cooper’s peewee football team, I was bored reading about all the training exercises and game play, which took up more than half of the novel–the other half being all about Bruce’s love for Allyson, the misunderstanding that caused their breakup 10 years earlier, and Bruce doing everything he possibly can to win Allyson back, which caused another issue for me.
Although Allyson isn’t really ready to forgive and forget, or to talk about the reasons she divorced her ex-husband (although there are plenty of clues), she certainly is hot for rough sex with Bruce–add another trigger to beware of. Their sex is as graphic as can be, and apparently Allyson can’t get enough dirty talk while having it, and Bruce has no trouble providing it. While rough sex isn’t a turn-off for me, the overabundance of the “f” word was, and what really did turn me off was that not once in this novel did either of the main characters ever refer to any their sexual encounters as making love. In this reader’s opinion, rough sex although fun, doesn’t cause longevity in a relationship, but love is forever. I wish Ms. Landish was of the same opinion.
While I didn’t love this novel, I did love young Cooper, and grew to love Bruce, who, although big, burly and rough, was incredibly sweet and protective of both Cooper and Allyson, and willing to do darn near anything to bring them together and keep them in his life. I plan on giving the next book in the series a try, and I do hope I find it a better read than this one.
Such a great small town romance with an alpha who knows how to support the woman he loves.
This was pretty much just the same old boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back story, but I did like the male lead. I like the sweet, grumpy ones.
Hot and sexy! Made me think back to my high school days..lol. Loved the characters and how they evolved from kids to adults but still had the same problems.
This was a great book!
I did not like this book because it was M/M and I guess I did not look well enough before I bought it. If you like M/M you will probably enjoy reading it. I read about a third.
