Arizona Bale has spent her entire life in beauty pageants. She was born and raised to compete, and her only purpose in life was to win. So many scars…
Emotional scars, physical scars, mental scars…Arizona is determined to move on and live her life, she won’t let her prosthetic and the emotional scars from her accident dictate her future. But is her sunny, confident personality real or is it an act?
Dustin hides behind his scars, his emotional walls stop anyone getting close and the physical scars are a reminder to him to never hope for more.
Your heart breaks for the pain they have experienced and the emotional turmoil others have caused, but you hope and pray they can find a way to be honest with each other and maybe they can then help each other to begin healing…together.
This is an emotional journey for Arizona and Dustin, there are a few typos but I enjoyed revisiting the Brotherhood Protectors World, I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
It wasn’t long enough! It was so interesting trying to figure out who-dun-it. It was edgy and heartwarming. Dustin incurred brutal injuries in the sandbox and almost didn’t make it. Arizona had a horrible injury to her leg that ended her beauty pageant career. They supported each in order to cope and move forward. Fortunately they had their family the Brotherhood Protectors by choice not blood on their side. Enjoyable read!

This was a story of realizing that your life my not always turn out as you expected, you just have to adjust to the changes and try to be the best person you can be and accept the life fate delt you. Dustin and Arizona were perfect for each other. Two damaged people finding a balance between each other. Great story.
An excellent book about two souls who have been thru hell and back. Dustin because he had been tortured and then burned from an IED while in a humvee. Arizona lost a leg from a conveyer belt in a barn and she was in beauty pagents. Now they have come together in a bar and ended up at her place. But things have taken a turn for the worse. Great hearing from Kujo and some of the other Brotherhood. HEA
Wow, this book was amazing! Fantastic characters, wonderful storyline, interesting drama with lots of emotional conflicts, great suspense, and a breathtaking, whirlwind romance that was perfect for these two souls. Arizona and Dustin were perfect for each other in every way and once they were truly honest with themselves and each other and laid all their cards on the table their relationship and future took on a whole new light. I loved the sweet, emotional side of both characters and really enjoyed the fact that they always kept a level head and talked things through rather than overreacting to everything. Even though they still held back important stuff at first, it was beautiful when all the confessions were made and they were truly free to be together and be happy. This was a great, fun read with lots of emotion, suspense, and a few twists and turns. I could not put it down. Rough Beauty is a great addition to the series and Brotherhood Protectors World.
Arizona Bale, beauty pageant winner, lost part of her leg in an accident. This loss does not define her, but has made her a stronger woman. She has been very attracted to her good friend Dustin Wyss who has his own physical issues. He now works for the Brotherhood Protectors, but has scars over most of his body from his time in the military. His scars have made him wary of involvement with women, especially former beauty queen Arizona. When someone seems to be targeting Arizona, he and the brotherhood team step up to protect her. Can these two wounded souls find peace and love with each other? I sense (and hope) that there is more, in the future, for these two amazing characters. I will let my mind imagine what is next for these two until Ms. Talty weaves her magic works over them again. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. Dustin and Arizona have both faced trauma Dustin’s while deployed and he feels he’s not whole and Arizona when she loses a leg in an “accident” Hank hires Dustin to become her bodyguard because it looks like someone wants to harm her. This book has everything you could want action, suspense and finding ones self. Jen Talty has a great addition to the
brotherhood Protectors. you won’t be disappointed.

There is no shortage of courage in this book, both emotional and physical. Both Dustin and Arizona have faced and recovered from immense physical and psychological trauma, but they have done so in different ways. Dustin has resigned himself to not being “whole,” and this colors his relationship with everyone, but particularly Arizona. Deeply hurt by his ex-fiancee’s behavior when the full extent of his injuries was known, he has erected a shield between himself and any potential relationship. Arizona is not that easily deterred, however, particularly when he becomes her bodyguard. Arizona’s life appears under threat, but no-one is sure why or from what direction, and the niggling doubts about the “accident” that cost her her leg start to resurface. This is a great addition to the Brotherhood Protectors stable, and another great Jen Talty read. There’s something about her characters that appeals to me; they are both strong and vulnerable, courageous and afraid, and her books have never disappointed.
