I have loved every book in the series!
I didn’t want the entire series to end. Thank goodness for Masterpiece Theatre on PBS.
If you love the PBS series Poldark, then you have to read this book! Gives you some of the nuances not possible on tv. I can’t get enough of Ross Vennor Poldark!
So well written. Great story and characters.
The Poldark books are the best historical fiction series I have read.
Wonderful, Intelligent writing, thought provoking, a great story and great characters. All the Poldark series are the same. Best find since Elena Ferranti’s Neapolitan Series.
I feel I. Love
Easy to read and it caught my attention and held it. On to the sequels!
I decided to read the the twelve Poldark books after watching the most recent PBS version of Mr. Graham’s wonderful books. They did not disappoint, and I look forward to the next season of Poldark.
Great window into the world at the turn of the 18th into 19th Century. Deep, complex characters and written with dry humor. First of a series.
This book puts all the YA books to shame. I am a huge fan of the TV series and I really grew to understand the backstory. Highly recommended.
Have read all 12 of the series and I am sad that there aren’t more.
Love the TV series and the books are even better!
I truly enjoyed reading this story and learning of the characters in Poldark series. Now I am going to read all in this series to keep up with the PANMasterpiece.
Couldn’t get into the story.
I liked the time period. Morals were loose. Characters were wild and different.
Missed first season on PBS and was delighted to find this well written (for me) prequel.
Great writing. Great storytelling. Rich characters. Satisfying read.
I have been wanting to read this book for years, and I am glad that I finally got to it. It was wonderful to get inside Ross and Demelza’s heads and discover what they were really like. The author did a wonderful job of portraying real life of ordinary people in the late 1700’s. Great read
Started out watching the Poldark series on PBS, but have absolutely fallen in love with the books. The amount of historical detail alone is fascinating, but add in truly great characters, and the complications of the time, and it makes for a fantastic series – not your average romance. Love how the dramas play out – some to good and some to sad …
