The police assigned me protection. And it looks like I might need it.Working as a necromancer in the police force isn’t easy. People don’t like our type of magic so much.People prefer us dead. Unfortunate for them, what we do is useful. So I’ve been assigned protection. They’ve given me a panther shifter bodyguard. He’s very good at his job, it seems. And I like the way he calls me “Miss Grieves.” I … I like the way he calls me “Miss Grieves.” I like the way he pays attention to me.
I have a boyfriend, though.
For now.
Author’s Note: This is a stand alone steamy romance with an HEA intended for 18+

I read and enjoyed this book as part of the Bodyguards of Samhain by Lisa Daniels is a boxset that includes the following four stand alone books: Talia’s Bodyguard, Rosen’s Bodyguard, Morgana’s Bodyguard, and Ellie’s Bodyguard. This book features a female who falls in love with her bodyguard while he is protecting her. The book has lots of exciting situations and adventures that the characters are involved in while the plot continues a suspenseful build throughout the story and characters who are involved in lots dangerous situations. I especially loved the sensual love scenes between the characters once they ended up together. This is one book you won’t be able to stop reading until you have turned the last page. I am sure you will love it as much as I did. It is one sinfully sexy and suspenseful story.
Rosen is a necromancer and because they aren’t the most liked people someone has been killing them off. So Rosen is given a bodyguard for protection while she works cases for her work with the police. Albert has been assigned protective detail for Rosen but he has made it his mission to protect any necromancer since he was younger. Their first case together gets hairy when no one wants to listen and believe what Rosen tells them about bones she was sent in to check. Once a medium gets involved chaos begins and everyone is at risk. Will they be able to keep everyone safe? Can Rosen see that Albert is perfect for her?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I enjoyed getting to know Rosen in this book as we had only briefly been introduced to her in the previous one. As a necromancer in the police department she plays a vital role in solving murders but despite that there are many misconceptions about her brand of magic that means that necromancers face a lot of misplaced prejudice. When necromancers start getting murdered Rosen has a bodyguard is appointed for her, a shifter called Albert. I loved the fact that the characters weren’t carbon copies of the previous book and Albert’s feelings were very different towards necromancers than Talia’s bodyguard. The characters are wonderfully crafted and the story was entertaining and had me wholly invested throughout.

Short read. We nave Rosen who is a necromancer and is given a bodyguard. Albert is a panther shifter who is hired to protect Rosen. Rosen has to live with her and go on her missions. What will happen with this closeness? Will Albert be able to protect Rosen? Will something happen to them personally?

Loved this second book in the series! Rosen was a fantastic and strong character. Although some people didn’t like her since she was a necromancer. She was also a cop and knew more than others. Albert is a shifter who is hired as her bodyguard. Great chemistry and some steam and a lot of action as some things go bad. Loved it!
Rosen is given a panther shifter bodyguard by the police force she works for.
Necromancer Rosen Grieves is called into her boss’s office at the precinct to be inform that as Necromancers are being murdered she will be given a bodyguard for protection. The man she lives with is not happy with the idea of another man in their apartment. Panther Shifter Albert Ortez had no problem with Necromancers having gone to one as a child with his father’s ashes and been able to talk to him. He head out to meet Miss Rosen Grieves the Necromancer he has been assigned to. He find himself witnessing the argument between her and her boyfriend over him being there but finds Rosen is the type of Necromancer he can work with.

Rosen’s Bodyguard is a shifter story and book two in the Bodyguards of Samhain series. We met Rosen in book one of the series who is a necromancer. In this book someone is killing necromancers so Rosen has been assigned Albert a bodyguard who is also a panther shifter. This is a quick, well written story filled with danger, action, suspense, mystery, and twists that held my attention. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!

Rosen’s Bodyguard by Lisa Daniels follows shortly after Talia’s Bodyguard and is another story of flawed characters with preconceived beliefs about those that are different. The plot continues to build throughout as our main characters slowly come to understand each other. It was an enjoyable and easy to read story with enough twists and turns to keep things fresh and interesting.
Rosen is a necromancer with the Police Department. Her job, to interrogate spirits from the Other Side to help solve crimes. Not everyone feels this is good and necromancers are being murdered, so the PD has hired a bodyguard for her.
Albert decided to protect people, especially necromancers when he was a young boy. He’s one of the few that doesn’t fear the magic in them.
Rosen has been asked to reach the soul belonging to a 300+ year old cold case. Rosen is excited for the opportunity, until she realizes just how dangerous this particular spirit has become. Rosen has no idea what this ancient spirit is capable of or will do. With all her personal issues she must get control of this job. To make matters even better, her bodyguard is pretty worthless against an angry spirit. On top of this ancient spirit, she must deal with her broken relationship, prejudice against her profession and people without proper training trying to do her job and causing who knows how much destruction.
This five-star story is sure to make you think while the story delves into human relationships and preconceived beliefs.

I’m still not sure how I feel about this series. I normally enjoy Lisa Daniels books and the series usually makes sense with one story tying into the other, even if they can be a stand-alone. This one not so much. There is no fated mates, no passion, just sort of a friend with benefits or scratch an itch type of situation. I’m hoping the next book in the series has a little more bite in it. Maybe a little more emotion.
This is the second book in the series, but it could easily read as a standalone. Rosen was introduced in book 1, but we didn’t really get to know her. She’s definitely on feisty side and she can take care of herself. Between work and teaching, she keeps very busy. While she loves what she does as a necromancer and takes it as a responsibility. But with it comes prejudice. Rosen has her share of insecurities. Albert is a panther shifter and has been assigned as her bodyguard, necromancers are being killed. He holds no hatred for her kind, actually, he feels the exact opposite. He thinks their ‘talent’ is very important. A good quick read. My reason for the lower (this was a 3 1/2 for me) rating a couple things. This was missing the things that I’m used to from this author. The action and mystery were minimal at best. There was also no romance or relationship building between the main characters. I missed that. Still, it’s worth the read.

Well worth reading!
This story was a bit outside my usual reading style of late. it is good I like the stories within the story. I like the world building. I like the way Rosen and Albert are written. I like that they have depth and dimension. I like their interaction. I like their chemistry. Quite enjoyable.

2 1/2 stars. First this isn’t a complete story. There was no passion leading up to the sex. They allowed themselves to feel a little interest but they never felt passion before that moment. Then there is the crisis. *sort of a spoiler * She then thinks she might like him for more than a distraction. She tells him, he says me too and the book is done. *End spoiler * I ASSUME there is supposed to be a hea but they don’t even start a relationship before it ends. I’d say slow burn but the next book is about someone else. I read this because it was supposed to be a romance not friends with benefits and that without passion. It is also obvious she is not his mate. There are no strong feelings and when I read a shifter book I expect mates. The underlying plot is good, there is a story and if you’re more interested in that then romance then I would read it. For that story I would give 3 1/2 stars. But this is budding friendship with a little sex thrown in not romance.

First of all I had to look up what a necromancer was as I haven’t read many books about that. Rosen is assigned a bodyguard after there are a number of murders that are screwing around with her investigation. The bodyguard is trying to protect Rosen while a bad a** spirit is after her. Book was really good. A major page turner, characters were well developed and story kept my attention. I didn’t get to read the first story but am going to get it later. A great addition to this series. It has a good story line, full of action, danger, suspense and a super-hot scene that will leave you breathless. Rosen, a necromancer is being protected by Albert, a panther shifter, when she gets a call requesting her necromancing skills. Unfortunately, things don’t go as hoped as she deals with a necromancer hater, a rocky relationship, and an evil spirit possession. Luckily, she has a sexy bodyguard watching her back. This quick well-written story was a pleasure to read and I look forward to reading more.
Rosen comes from a family of strong necromancers. Her father even sits on the supernatural council, and has surrendered himself in a deal with a revenant- a source force gone dark and evil.
Someone has been systematically killing necromancers, painting them as evil raiders of the dead, so a shifter bodyguard is assigned to Rosen.
With a fractured romance, a splintered family, and a fascinating and lethally dangerous very old and angry spirit on the loose, an exciting read all around.
Through in some hot and steamy – a fun and exciting story!
