Meet Rosemary Field, chemist turned private chef, in this fresh and funny romantic mystery from a USA Today bestseller. The day I become a murder suspect starts like any other. I’m busy prepping for a dinner party, regretting my life choices, and putting up with my diva movie star boss’s antics. But when said miserable movie star dies from an allergic reaction after eating my cooking, the police … after eating my cooking, the police want to charge me and close the case.
To clear my reputation and stay out of prison, I have to find the real murderer. The suspect list is long (did I mention she was a rotten person?) and includes a womanizing race car driver; a powerful music producer; Hollywood’s hottest leading man; and, oh yeah, Felix, the dead woman’s gorgeous stepson–which gets a bit awkward when he and I start dating.
Things go from bad to worse when Felix nearly dies from food poisoning after I make him a romantic dinner.
Now I’m unhappily single, unemployed, and once again on the wrong side of the LAPD.
Salvaging an oversalted sauce? No problem. Saving my bacon while a ruggedly handsome homicide detective investigates me for murder? We’ll see …

I thoroughly enjoyed this book
The story was okay but the writing was poor.
Easy reading with interesting characters
Very enjoyable.
This was a good story that quickly draws you in. Someone frames the main character for killing her boss who is a big**. All evidence points straight to her but, she’s innocent. How else is she supposed to be cleared? Wait for the cops? No. She’s got to find the killer herself. Doesn’t help matters when the murdered woman’s stepson is poisoned while eating with his stepmom s suspected killer. You will keep guessing different suspects until the real killer is found out in the end.
What a great mystery! An interesting setting and a look into the lives of gluten-free, organic, etc. etc. cooks who cheat at the local Five Guys.
A story you can follow without tension, nail-biting, or running to lock all doors and windows. However, it leaves enough suspense to entertain, enough characterization to be relatable, and enough follow-through to keep you engaged from beginning to end. A very nice Sunday afternoon read.
Enjoyable light mystery with fun characters
Awedome
Not much excitement. Nice easy paced read.
Enjoyed this one too. Not sure if I’ll continue the series. Maybe if the price is right.
Cute.
Little too much suggestiveness for my taste.
Unique career for a leading character. Refreshing to read a cozy mystery with a different setting! Has some surprising twists for some of the characters.
Average
Quick and easy read with quirky characters. Look forward to the sequel.
