Rosemary and Dylan have grown apart since his return from WW2 and prison camp. But when memories from a bygone era begin to haunt them, they are drawn together to discover the source. The key could be the locket that Dylan found in an antique store that bears Rosemary’s initials. ‘Together Forever’ are the words inscribed there, and somehow the daguerreotype portraits seem familiar. This was a very well written story that combined actual events in a fantasy novel. Nikki did a wonderful job in that regard that had me feeling like I was there experiencing what her POW experienced during World War II. It really shows the struggles our POW’s have in trying to blend back in to society after such an experience. In some cases their treatments were even more horrific than these soldiers suffered in this novel.
I was in the Army during Vietnam and though I thankfully never was a POW myself I still was shocked at the hate people gave me here in the USA because I wore the uniform! Some fifty years later it’s still something I remember but am gratified that nowadays those wearing the uniform are treated so much better than we were.
This book shows the struggle that wives as well as soldiers experienced when they were finally reunited. Some can make it work and some can’t. They were separated through no fault of their own and live went on.
I would urge you to read this book to try and feel what some people actually went through. It
will make you have some empathy for those who are in the service of our country.
This story is set in the 1940s and 50s and so World War II got in the way of the romance between Rosemary and Dylan. Dylan had to serve and was captured and sent to a camp whilst Rosemary could do nothing but wait for the war to be over and to see if Dylan returned to her. The author has done a fantastic job of running two stories side by side. Rosemary has her visions/dreams whilst Dylan has his struggle to survive as a POW. Needless to say, the War left a great many scars, physical, mental, emotional that people had to come to terms with and try to heal. This is a powerful story, not about war, but about humans and how their love can survive and then grow even during a war and afterwards whilst healing from the wounds left by that war. There are not that many romance stories set in the time period of WWII, but the author really does this love story justice and in doing so reminds the reader that there is always hope and sometimes you have to wait and then work at keeping/rekindling that love. This is a very deep and emotional story, I suggest a box of tissues/Kleenex by your side as you read this wonderful book
A great read. Rosemary comes from a well to do family, she also has dreams that play a part in her life. Dylan is the love of Rosemary, he goes to the war and ends up ending circumstances in the War that changes him. The Author brings these characters to fruition so well, and this story as well, that as soon As you start reading the book you won’t want to put it down, because its that epically good. A Fantastic story that is an absolute must read. And the cover is fantastic.
