Their love breaks all the rules.Morgan Lightner has spent his life running away. First from a bitter father who resented his very existence, and then from the role he is forced into as CEO of a multi-billion dollar business empire. He didn’t ask for any of this. He’s quite sure he’s in over his head and about to drown, when he meets the one woman who can save him.Daphne Adams has always been a … him.
Daphne Adams has always been a misfit. The way she sees the world has kept her on the outside. All she’s ever wanted is to make a difference. When she’s hired by Thomas Meenan to be Morgan Lightner’s new executive assistant at Draven International Holdings, she gets everything she’s ever dreamed of and more.
Before they know it, Morgan and Daphne are deeply in love, but their business relationship forbids them ever crossing the line. She fantasizes about Morgan and his cowboy boots, while he dreams of showing her all the things about himself that he’s kept secret.
When tragedy darkens their doorstep, Morgan and Daphne are given a chance to break through all the walls between them and be the people they secretly long to be with each other.
Will they risk everything for their love?

I received an ARC copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to review it. I loved the book. It is well written, worth your time and effort. For me it was a quick easy read. I read this one in one afternoon. This was the first Cybill Cain book I have read but it will not be the last. I am looking forward to see of some of the secondary characters get their own books. I am hoping they do.
Roped was an amazing read. As a romance reader Morgan had me hooked from the beginning. Their story was romantic, passionate and all encompassing. I was sucked in and could not stop reading. Everyone has different tastes in romance genre, but this was just an amazing read. Very well written! Bravo Cybill, Bravo.
This is full-length Cybill Cain novel in her Chimera Club series. The book is the story of Daphne and Morgan. We met Morgan briefly in Delicious (he was the voice on the phone wanting James Draven to come back to his company and leave Switzerland). But we didn’t know him, not the way you’ll know him when you read this book. And we’d never met Daphne before, and once you’re about half way through you’ll feel like you’ve known her almost all your life. She’s a strong woman with love that runs deep, a woman that Morgan depends on and already loves from Page 1 on. The most appealing books to me have always been when a strong woman meets an equally strong man on equal terms. That is this book hands down.
This is a continuation of James Draven’s story, but at the same time it isn’t. You’ll see other Chimera characters in this book (Stacey for one, and I DARE you not to laugh as he’s explaining about the walking taco), but it isn’t necessary to read the previous books to enjoy this one. And as an added treat, at least it was for me, this book brushed up against paranormal which added a twist that I wasn’t expecting.
Cybill Cain is a genius at world-building. Because that’s what this series of books has become. It is a fascinating series about strong men and women who love hard, play hard, and tell a story you’re going to want to read more than once. And lest you think the story isn’t steamy, oh my hot god, no worries there. Between cowboy hats, western shirts, cabins, and red silk scarves, you’ll have no problem enjoying the steam.
Would I recommend the book? Oh yeah. Cybill Cain understands that the fantasy of the fiction must be tempered with the reality of the human characters. In doing so she paints her characters with multi-colored emotions and wraps them in strength, love, and romance. She truly does put the romance back into Contemporary Romance. 5 stars with tails!
Wow thus story was so good. I was hooked from the first chapter. It told us of a story that was to be believed if it was true. Morgan and Daphne are the two people who it’s about but can we really be sure it’s just them. In my opinion…no. There’s more to their story and I can what to see what happens next. This one had us so in tune and needing to know what happened that it left a cliffhanger for us. All in all it was absolutely amazing, well written and to the point. I highly recommend this book to read. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy
AMAZING! STEAMY! Daphne & Morgan’s part of the Chimera stories is deep and intense, and so hot your Kindle might start smoking. ; )
This series is full of intricate parts that come together like a favorite TV show. Think along the lines of Revenge and The Vampire Diaries (without vampires…). Each story is about a different couple, but also gives us a peek into other couples, and Thomas, and an overarching storyline that is shaping up to be E P I C. There is a lot of intrigue, questions are posed & then answered & then connect to new questions. There is a mystery to solve… But, each book is also its own self-contained story, meaning you can enjoy each couple for just THEM, if you’d like.
I love the way Daphne & Morgan’s brains work separately, and the way they fit together. Their working relationship & friendship build a great foundation, and when they finally admit their feelings of love & take that next step – BOOM!
This may be one of my favorites in the series, because we get even more insight into Thomas Meenan, and I am (once again) SO looking forward to the day he gets to tell his story & we get to peel back more of his layers. Two thumbs up & 10+++ stars!! : )
