Around my neck lays a wedding ring.In my right hand I hold a hotel room key.Which one do I pick? The marriage? The key?Everything is not as it seems in room one-forty-three
I absolutely freaking LOVED this latest book by this talented author!!!! The tears started in the very first pages of this book. My heart ached for the pain that Nash was going through after losing the love of his life and his unborn baby in a senseless tragedy. For the past 5 years, Nash has been going though the motions of life trying to make sense of what has happened and dealing with all of the rage and hurt he has going through him. His brothers want to help him so they give him one night to just let go and forget everything….that is where he meets Caroline. They share an intense connection that night one that just doesn’t go away when she shows up at his job as their new hire. Their chemistry is undeniable and the connection they share won’t be denied. Their story is raw, real, and I absolutely loved every second of their story. I was hooked from beginning to end…it is by far a story that will grab you and won’t let go and it will consume you, it did me. I highly recommend this book to all and I can’t wait for the next story (Jameson wink wink lol!) I can’t say enough great things about this amazing story….grab it today you will NOT be disappointed it is not what you think it is promise. Well done!!!

Such an unexpected story from Laramie that I got totally obsessed with! After dealing with the ultimate loss in his life, Nash has continued to struggle with survivor’s guilt and moving on with his life. With a push from his brothers, who hired an escort for the night to help Nash quick start him moving on, Nash agrees its time and meets with her. Unbeknownst to Nash, who is supposed to meet with escort Taylor, he actually meets Caroline, who is filling in for her best friend after she has a family emergency. With a twist in the story, Caroline ends up being the newest hire at Nash’s family business, and when they realize they can’t stay away from each other and it’s fate that put them together again, and he decides it’s his chance to really move on in life. With some ups and downs within their newfound relationships, they work through their concerns and struggles as the feelings grow deeper. This was so different than the typical type of story that Laramie writes but I really enjoyed it and hope that she continues in this book world with Taylor’s book and the rest of Nash’s brothers!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This book is not what you would expect it’s so much BETTER! Nash and Caroline’s journey is beautiful, emotional and messy everything that’s part of life. I honestly think that this is Laramie Briscoe’s BEST book!! The emotions conveyed in this book are so breathtakingly beautiful. The honesty that the characters are written with makes them relatable so that you’re definitely invested in their story. I highly recommend this book and I CAN’T WAIT to read what she writes next. I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.

This book is not the usual style from Laramie Briscoe and this was a refreshing new style of writing that she has nailed. Nash’s past has not been pleasant and when Caroline comes into his life in an unexpected way you know this couple is destined to have an edge of your seat, rooting for the underdog kind of romance. He is not ready to move on and she is exactly the type of person Nash needs to get him to see life can no more for him. Caroline comes into his life as a breath of fresh air for him. They have a lot of chemistry and it is heartwarming to watch his outer shell start to crumble. This book will leave you with all the feels and more. It also shows you that life can be a whole lot better even when your chips are down and you feel that your destiny is not looking very bright.

Laramie Briscoe does a fantastic job with Room 143. It’s emotional, touching, raw in places and it will hit the reader with all the feelings. I couldn’t help but root for both Caroline and Nash. Nash’s story was so heartbreakingly sad yet his brothers knew he was ready to start living life again…Caroline had moved to a new town and when her BFF needed a favor, she helped her out- reluctantly. These two lost souls met and what a raw, beautiful, sizzling, intense, emotionally charged, complex, unique, gripping 2nd chance at love romance.
Ms. Briscoe has a way at writing emotionally complex romances, romances with heart yet romances that do require tissues. I enjoyed every moment with my raccoon eyes because Nash and Caroline
made the story! I liked the secondary characters and I hope there will be books written for Nash’s brothers..

What a great story of second love and redemption. Nash is do mired in his grief that it takes his brothers action to force him out of his comfort zone. Caroline is trying to find her place in a new city. One favor results in her finding love. This is a story that will wrench so many emotions from you, sorrow, laughter, and a sense of gratitude for what you have.
It puts faith in me that you can have multiple great loves in your life.

I’m a huge fan of Laramie Briscoe. I love her series, both Rockin’ Country and the two Moonshine Task Force! Her previous standalone books have also been amazing, so I was excited to try a new book by her.
Man, this blurb doesn’t give much up, does it?! I had a few extra glimpses as I belong to Ms. Briscoe’s reader groups, but even then, it wasn’t enough to get a full picture of the plot. I knew this would be a book full of redemption and life choices and changes and growth. Ms. Briscoe did not disappoint, and I read enjoyed this book in one sitting!
Our main characters are Nash and Caroline. I loved how we got the backstory on each character in ways that really made us relate to each of the characters, even if we haven’t experienced the same situations. The way the story moves each of them through the natural progression of emotions and life was breathtaking.
We can guess from the little blurb that some steamy scenes are up ahead. And in true Laramie Briscoe fashion, they are hot, they are romantic, they are brazen and bold. These two have chemistry to spare, but have to work through a host of hangups to feel safe in the chemistry.
I got totally sucked into this book! Some books the title or blurb are super obvious for the plot, but not this one. You had to keep reading to see what the connection and importance was. The backstory was perfectly given and timed. All the emotions were strikingly written and pulled the reader into the swirling whirlwind of feelings.
I loved how this book ended, and the epilogue made my heart soar. I would heartily encourage readers to choose this book. I do hope that while this had been intended as a standalone, we can see Taylor’s story as well some time. She suffered so much, I hope she can find her happy ending in a future book.
Favorite Quotes:
“The woman standing in front of me has the body of a vixen and the eyes of an innocent. I can’t wait to see which personality she uses to seduce me, because I’m not walking out of this room without getting what I came here for.”
“I decide in that moment, I always want to be the person who brings this smile to her face.”
Absolutely loved this one! Caroline is on my list of absolute favorite characters and she’s written in a way that makes you want to be her bestie lol. And Nash was equally likable. She is starting over and he’s just trying to keep his head above water and not drowning from the grief that consumes him daily when he is basically forced by his brothers who just want to see him smile again into a set up so to speak. Neither him or Caroline knew what was going to happen when that door was opened but what did was sweet, emotional and beautiful to read!

Nash is a young widower and Caroline is just a girl trying to help out her friend. These two come together in a very very unconventional way but it is explosive.
I loved that this story is kind of a slow burn after the first encounter. It’s instant attraction not instant love which I think was perfect for these characters and their backgrounds. You really feel for both Nash and Caroline throughly this whole story.
Nash loved the wife he lost and you root for him this whole book as he slowly comes to terms with moving on and opening himself up to love again.
Caroline is this great girl who values friends and really wants a family underneath it all. You go on this crazy love adventure with her and you just can’t help but love her.
This is one emotional, hilarious and unconventional love story. Definite must read!

This second chance love book starts out heartbreaking for Nash as he continues to struggle with the grieving process of losing his wife and unborn child five years after the fact. Through a chance meeting, he learns that it is okay to move on as he meets Caroline. The pair have explosive chemistry from the first moment that they meet. I enjoyed watching the pair find love and for Nash to learn that the world will not end if he moves on with his life as well as his grief and live again since he is so young.
This highly emotional read was enjoyable as I watched the Nash and Caroline find their HEA. Their story moved along well and had me hooked from the first page. I was only disappointed in my real life getting in the way of me wanting to just devour this book in one sitting. This is not like Ms. Briscoe’s other books but it is just as amazing as they are to read. I would highly recommend this book to others.

I love it when Laramie Briscoe decides to do a stand alone book. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a long time fan and truly enjoy the worlds she had created. Hello, how can you not love Tyler. When Ms. Briscoe delights her readers with a stand alone read we get something a bit more emotional and deep. Room 143 hits the reader hard and fast with everything and possibly the kitchen sink too.
Nash is hottie who’s darn good with his hands and stuck in the cycles of grief. Caroline is starting over in a small town just trying to have a peaceful life. When one’s brothers push and another agree to do a favor for their best friend, it’s set the wheels in motion for something deeper and more life changing than anyone saw coming. Room 143 is an end and a beginning. It’s a change and turning point in two people’s lives. One night changes everything. When the darkness of the night fades and reality steps back in, the chemistry grows with the days they are together. Learning to navigate the ghost of the past and the people of the present has given the realization that love is different and you can love another without losing the love of one you had before.
Room 143 blew all of my expectations out of the water. I expected an emotional read but what I got was some so much more. Caroline is passionate and patient. Her confidence and compassion make her a truly unique character. She was one of those people that could truly give all of herself without losing any of her self. She is genuine in all that she does. Nash was so tangled in his grief his life was just motions. He was complex and seeing him go from the worst moments of his life to something more was one of the highlights of the read for me. Room 143 is a whirlwind of emotions, from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs. From mourning love to rediscovering love. Nash and Caroline are equine in their coupling and the passion they discover through one another is beyond pure. Room 143 is so worth using the key and opening the door.

This is a super sweet emotional roller coaster love story, and for fans of Laramie’s books, a good one. It was hard to witness Nash’s struggle with trying to move on from his grief, and the constant reminders from those around him that are in his same state of mind don’t help. He gets the push he needs when his brothers set him up with a night he won’t soon forget. Caroline is trying to start fresh herself after trading her high profile work-a-holic life in Atlanta for the slow pace of Harper Valley. She’s just finding her footing when fate intervenes and thrusts her and Nash together.
As always, I really enjoy Laramie’s writing and story weaving and this one was no exception. She writes characters and situations that are totally relatable and you find yourself on the emotional ride with the characters. My only complaint here is implausibility regarding her friend, Taylor. Given the small town, I find it hard to believe that she would be able to perform her occupation in the wide open, without the authorities finding out. Especially since everyone seems to know her and what she does for a living. It takes away from the story a bit, but didn’t tarnish it enough for me to not enjoy it. My hope is that we will eventually find out the connection between Jameson and Taylor in a future story (hint, hint 😉 Another winner from Laramie!

This book brings me back to all the things I loved best about “Trick”, we just have a new leading couple this time. Nash and Caroline’s story sucked me in, and I was so frustrated that my every day activities kept getting in the way of my reading. I did not want to put it down. It made me laugh. It nearly brought me to tears several times. This was a beautiful story of hope for everyone who’s looking at starting over. Now, I badly want to know more about their friends and family.

This book. Omg. Laramie Briscoe always manages to make me fall in love with her characters but Room 143 had me next level in love with Nash and Caroline! Even with some heavy emotions at play the sweetness between these two really shines and makes for a truly breathtaking romance. Where there could have been a lot of bitterness and angst there was instead a healthy dose of maturity, healing and growth. I cannot tell you what a breath of fresh air that was!
Nash has been through so much loss, the kind of loss many people never come back from, but this man is strong even when he doesn’t think he is. Even in his darkest moments he manages to pull through and grow even more into a man I couldn’t help but love. And Caroline was his perfect match. Patient, understanding, kind and sweet. She was everything he deserved and more.
There is just so much to love about their story I can’t even begin to explain beyond saying this book is a MUST READ!

Nash had my heart from the start. He is sweet, sexy and all kinds of swoony. His story had my heart breaking for him and I loved him immediately. Caroline is strong, and sweet and just the kind of girl I could be friends with. Their meeting was so different from anything I have ever read and their story had me unable to stop turning the pages.

This story was heartbreakingly beautiful! Nash and Caroline have had their rose colored glasses stripped away but that hasn’t made them bitter. Nash was loving married life they had some ups and downs but then it was all gone for Nash. He hasn’t gotten over it but a chance meeting with Caroline in hotel room number 143, puts what happened in perspective. Upon meeting her he has to confront his feelings he thought he buried with his wife. Is he ready to move forward? Will he do his best to not make Caroline feel like she’s second choice? I highly recommend this book!!

What a great read, so much more than I expected.
I thoroughly enjoyed Room 143, it had a great storyline, awesome characters, lots of emotion, and an immediate attraction, which I have a preference for.
Caroline and Nash both need a restart and they might just be what the other needs.
Nash lost everything in an instant 5 years ago but from the moment he meets Caroline everything begins to change. Parts of his body, dead since he lost his young wife, have sprung back to life. Finally he might be able to live again.
