What a beautiful story about grief and love. Right of the bat we meet Nash and my heart just shatters for what this young man has been through. For 5 years he has been holding on by a string. His brothers step in and try a unique way to get him back in the saddle.
Caroline is new in town and is ready enjoy the change of pace from a big city it this small town. As a favor to her friend Taylor she is thrust into the path of Nash. It is a favor that changes both Nash and Caroline lives forever.
This story just pulled at my heart strings. It was so authentic. Although the story centered around overcoming grief it has a ton of funny moments as well. Nash’s Bailey girl (his dog) is a character on her own. I adored the way he was with her and the comfort she gave him as well as how Caroline interacted with her.
I am hoping that Jameson (Nash’s brother) and Taylor (Caroline BFF) get their own story cause they certainly have some explanation to do!!

Room 143 was a great 5 star read.
Nash is a widower, he lost his wife and unborn child a few years ago. In an effort to try and get him to move forward with his life his brother sets him up with an escort. He takes the key and heads to the hotel.
Caroline has just moved to town, when her best friend has a family emergency she agrees to take her place as an escort. Her friend assures her that widowers only cry and want someone to listen to them, so what’s the harm of going? When Caroline and Nash meet there is an instant connection and they end up spending 24 hours together.
Caroline is excited to start her new job, when she walked in she got a shocking surprise. Nash is her new boss. From here things get even more interesting. Overall this story was a great second chance romance for two broken people. They were perfect for each other. My emotions were all over the place at times. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. Laramie does a great job with her writing, you feel like your one of the characters. .1-click and get started today on this great read.

Room 143 is an emotional roller coaster…so many feels, ups, downs, healing and loving!
Nash has so much love for Katie, I teared up just reading how much he loved her and wasn’t sure if he was doing the right thing. He needed to still have his honor about his marriage but try to let go of the past and focus on the future. Caroline is trying to slow life down a bit, get out of rat race of work and enjoy life again. They were thrown together in a way that would make hearts race for generations. To watch how much the grow and invest in each other and the relationship is so important!
This is a different approach to a Briscoe novel than most I’ve read. It was very emotional to watch a person try to move through the grieving process, most of our novels are two individuals who may have trauma or are healing from a bad break-up, but not one who is actively trying to move on from death. Not to make light of any relationship or past relationship, it was just a different spin on what I am used to.
There is so much packed into Room 143, readers need to grab it and have some emotional supports ready…weather it be blankets and coffee, some chocolate, or some people to hug. To be totally honest, I was not holding out for Room 143 to move up on my list of favorites from Laramie, but it has, Nash and Caroline are holding close with Ace and Violet, and Tyler and Mere. Room 143 is one I will have in my reread pile!

If I could give this book 10 stars I would!!
Bravo to L.B. on delivering another amazing, beautiful, heart-wrenching novel.
I loved Nash from the first few pages, he absolutely stole my heart, broke it, then put it back together again. His journey to healing was a long and hard one, but something that was truly relatable if you’ve ever lost someone close to you.
Where Nash was lost and hurting we then had Caroline who was determined and hopeful. Caroline was very understanding and super sweet.
Watching Nash and Caroline’s journey was amazing – seeing two people who knew they needed something but didn’t know what find it in each other was beautiful.
An emotional read that absolutely pulls at the heart strings and makes you appreciate true love.
P.S. Bailey was the true star of the show 😉

Another great story by Laramie Briscoe.
I loved Nash and Caroline from the beginning. Each at a different time in their lives. Caroline moving on, while Nash is not moving on, stuck in the grief of losing his wife and son.
When they meet, will they be able to move on together? Or will Nash’s grief will be bigger and keep him from being happy again?
I loved this story and the characters.

I loved that there wasn’t a ton of unnecessary drama surrounding the characters and it was just a happy after tragedy romance between two awesome characters. WHAT HAS REALLY WORKED FOR ME
Addictiveness: 5/5 This book hooked me from the beginning until the end. After that crazy beginning I kept wondering how would this work. As addictive as chocolate!!!
Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Characters were multidimensional, with interesting layers to them. They have shown personal growth throughout the story and it felt very real.
Nash was a young widower that hasn’t been able to move on since tragedy destroyed the life he taught he would have. His personal growth during this book was huge and really believable. He become a perfect book hero because he was gorgeous, hardworking, loved his family and a very hot, loving boyfriend.
Caroline was a courageous woman that left a great salary with an established job to a small town, simpler job, but less stressful and more fulfilling. She took a leap of faith at life and was rewarded. She was very caring and patient. A great friend, wonderful girlfriend and worker.
So many interesting characters… even though this says standalone, I believe the other Gilbert’s brothers deserve their own book.
Villains… there are no villains or antagonists here, only life and the road blocks that come with it.
All characters were easy to love, connect and understand.
Cover: art 3.5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I have to say this art is pretty but very generic. It could be the cover of many other stories. The couple is gorgeous and hot, but are they Nash and Caroline? I don’t know. It was never mentioned they had piercing and head tattoos. At the same time, this title was so perfect and creative that I couldn’t say I didn’t like this cover. The moment that I found out the true meaning of the title I’ve become obsessed with it. I would buy this book by its cover probably without needing to read the blurb!
Freshness: 4/5 This was a contemporary romance based on a great plot concept. It felt fresh and original. As fresh as ice cream.
Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 2/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 4/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 4/5, subplots 3/5, twists 3/5 Extraordinaire opening and a great ending. Great dialogues with perfect pace that made the story believable. A bit of a lack of a conflict, with no major twist or creative subplots. Very high level of enjoyment!
I have to say, the lack of a major conflict made this story more believable, this felt a lot more like real life than if some crazy twist was added. But, personally, I’ve missed a BOOM. I’ve missed a moment of uncertainty.
Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 4/5, development 5/5, steam 3/5 This is a love story. The couple met and had a one night stand. Life threw them together, they become friends until more. It grew accordingly, it felt believable. It was beautiful. The steam was good, with great description.
Writing Style: 4/5 Crafty writing! Good plot with incredible characters. Believable romance with mouth-watering beginning. Clean, cohesive writing without any major loopholes.
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER
Plot: I believe this plot needed a bigger conflict. Something to wow the reader. Maybe a plot twist somewhere. I don’t know. Their journey was beautiful, but I was always expecting the uncertainty.
MY THOUGHTS
The author was very crafty writing this book. She started with the BOOM, and from there created her plot. She made a believable love story with easy to love characters that you wanted be friends with.
Even though is a standalone, I would love to read books of the other Gilbert brothers.
Would I recommend? Sure. If you enjoy love stories.
Would I re-read this book/series? I think so.
Would I read more from the author? Yes. I like the author.
You may read this because you like the author; you SHOULD read this because you enjoy great characters; you MUST read this for an amazing love story!!!

Room 143 by Laramie Briscoe is a standalone contemporary romance about a widower who is pushed to move on by his family and a woman new to the small town that steps in to help her best friend only to find herself in a situation she never expected. The chemistry between Caroline and Nash is palpable. The situation in which they first met is crazy! The premise was so much different than what I was expecting from the blurb – but I’ve loved every Laramie Briscoe book I have read so far so I gave this a chance. I’m so glad I did. It’s a small-town romance with a kinky twist in the meet-cute but I loved it all. Enjoy!

This story was SOOOOO GOOOOOD! Please don’t read the blurb and think this is a book about cheating on a spouse because it’s not! It IS a book about dealing with grief and survivor’s guilt and having a second chance at happiness and love. Nash and Caroline are wonderful characters. Laramie Briscoe manages to draw you into their lives and make you feel every bit of sorrow and happiness right along with them. This book will definitely be on my reread list.

A departure from her usual, which was interesting from the first chapter. Nash is a strong lead character that grows ad the story progresses. It really didn’t go the way I thought it would, but that is what makes it special.

Room 143 is my first read by Laramie Briscoe and I have to say I AM IN LOVE! This newest creation of hers is a total win, in my book.
Nash Gilbert has had a crappy few years that all started with the death of his wife and unborn son. So when his brothers decide he needs to get back out there, so to speak, they do what any typical brothers would do. Hire an escort. Or did they?
Room 143 was not what I expected it to be. I expected a cheating book with an angry as heck wife or husband to come in at some point. However, what I read was so much more and so much better.
I felt that Nash wanted to move on but was haunted by his loss and feeling like he was cheating if he did. When it came down to either accepting what his brothers did or staying stuck in the same point in life, he had a choice to make. Ultimately he made his decision and it was the right one for him. What he did not expect was her. Her being the woman that could make his life worth it again.
Laramie took me on an emotional roller coaster ride and I loved it. Room 143 is filled with everything it should be: romance, loss, grieving and finding love again. I was blown away by the amount of emotions she was able to convey to me while I was reading. Never have I ever cried as much as I did when reading a book. My heart tore into millions of pieces for Nash and Caroline.
Room 143 is so worth the one click! I cannot express just how much you need to read this gem.

First off, I have to say I really enjoyed this story. I really liked the main characters Nash and Caroline. Nash was a grieving widow who after five years was finally ready to get out there, and took a chance on something he wouldn’t normally do that his brothers had suggested and set up for him.. Caroline was new to the small town she was now living in and was reluctantly helping out her best friend for the evening. It was a case of “meant to be” or “stars aligning” when these two met. They had spent a wonderful weekend together not thinking they would see each other again, but of course, another twist of fate made that impossible. I liked how Caroline brought Nash slowly out of his shell of grief and helped him realize that maybe it was finally time after so many years to move on and find love again. I would have to say one negative about the book is all of the giggling. I don’t think I have giggled since high school, maybe middle school. Laughed sure, but using the word giggle so much just kind of makes my eye twitch and wonder how old these characters are supposed to be. Other than that, this was another hit from Laramie for me. I love all of her books and can’t wait for the next one. I am definitely hoping to read a book about Jameson and Taylor at some point because there is definitely a story there!!

Everything is not as it seems is so true with story. With that blurb you could think that there is something what there is not. This story brought out all the emotions for me. Nash was dealt a terrible tragedy and did not know how to or if it was even possible to move on from it. Caroline is starting over in a new town. They meet in Room 143. What was supposed to be a one time meeting takes on a life of it’s own. I laughed, I cried and I learned to love right along with Nash and Caroline. I definitely loved their chemistry and their journey.

Caroline is moving on – from a corporate job, from working 70 hours a week, from feeling like she has nothing to show for it.
Nash is not moving on – from his dead wife and unborn son, from his grief, from his obligations, from finding happiness again.
Can they move on together? Can they find happiness with the stranger from Room 143.

This book is about loss and finding a second chance at love. Nash lost his first and only live and their child in a tragic accident. Give years later a chance encounter in Room 143 will change the course of his future. This is a emotional journey that I love going on
