“When the first day of your job is the beginning of your lost fate…”For years, I spent my life moving across America, fleeing some unknown enemy with my mother and as an adult, I swore I’d never run again. Unfortunately for me, a past I never knew about is about to slap me in the face, one wrought with supernatural forces. My training officer, August stares at me like he knows something about me … like he knows something about me but nothing throws a wrench into my destiny like the untimely arrival of a dark shadow from the past.
And now August has to train me on much more than just policing.
Author’s Note: Due to the steamy nature this book is recommended for 18 and over. It is a stand a lone with an HEA.

This is a wellwritten and fastpaced book from Mia Taylor. I loved the storyline and the characters. Loved the chemistry between August and Melissa. Would love to read more about this couple.

Melissa spent her life moving around – and she feared that her father was an abuser.
She finally attends the Police Academy, and feels her dreams of being an officer are about to come true, when secrets about her family and lies about her social life pop up.
And her new Training Officer just realized she is his mate – a little confusing because he thinks she may not be a shifter.
August can help her through a lot, but the rest of their lives together, and the many challenges ahead, they can face together if she stops running.

This is another book along the lines of this author’s previous series. It is a quick read, clean and conservative. Characters are likable but could be further fleshed out with more background and details. The author expects you to make some mental assumptions to make the story work.

Amazing characters, the chemistry is off the chart. The book is well written and fun to read.

Rookie Shift is a fast, easy and entertaining read that has certainly started this new series with a bang! Bears hiding in plain sight while protecting the weak and upholding the law is a fresh twist on the shifter genre, and a human woman with tragedy and confusion in her past and hidden secrets that even she is unaware of. I thoroughly enjoyed this story with its interesting world building, well-developed characters and the expectation of more intrigue and mayhem to come.

Good start for a story, but I feel like it leaves it in the middle of the story.
Melissa is a new cop, as a kid her mom was always on the run.
August is her training officer and mate.
She does not know about shifters.
I will not be reading more of Mia books because while she writes well her stories leave me with an empty feeling of incompleteness I want to know where the middle and the end is. I have read several and I always feel like I am walking into the middle of a movie and leaving before it is over.
