“When the first day of your job is the beginning of your lost fate…”For years, I spent my life moving across America, fleeing some unknown enemy with my mother and as an adult, I swore I’d never run again. Unfortunately for me, a past I never knew about is about to slap me in the face, one wrought with supernatural forces. My training officer, August stares at me like he knows something about me … like he knows something about me but nothing throws a wrench into my destiny like the untimely arrival of a dark shadow from the past.
And now August has to train me on much more than just policing.
Author’s Note: Due to the steamy nature this book is recommended for 18 and over. It is a stand a lone with an HEA.

You Can Run, But You Can’t Hide…..
it was amazing
All Melissa Stark knew since childhood was running from a supposedly abusive father, whenever she thought they were putting down roots her mom would up and make them run…..Melissa never after childhood thought to inquire what all the running was about just assumed , but she will run no longer.
Melissa really believes in her subconscience that becoming a cop will halt all the running, but not really, in her head she is still running and thinks that it’s all she can do even from her new job and the man that makes her insides melt Her training officer is more than a handsome face though and Detective August Silas will not sit around and allow the first woman to ever make him feel, just resign and walk out of his life.

I liked it
It was a great beginning for the series. Melissa grew up moving all the time but always seem to come back to Chicago. Now she is a starting as a rookie cop. Her TO is a detective and also a shifter. She doesn’t know she is and there is so much more going on.
Melissa and her mother have been on the run, trying to hide from Melissa’s father. Once her mom dies, Melissa decides she’s tired of running and wants roots and to become a cop. She achieved her goals but at what price? This is a short read that ends with a cliffhanger and many unanswered questions. I’m hoping the next book will start filling in the blanks.
The prologue book left me wary of what this one would be like. I’m grateful to report that this is worlds different. Though, I will give that prologue book credit for giving me some necessary background information going into this. I like Melissa. She’s spunky and independent. However, that independence sometimes gets her in trouble because he wont always ask for the help she needs. August is adorable; a big growly teddy bear with a heart of marshmallow. I’m very interested to see how the rest of their story plays out.

Melissa has been on the run all her life and never knew why. Her mother Lisa Stark constantly moved them since she was a baby. She finally found out it was because her father Paul Stark kept finding them and her mother was afraid of him. She never talked about him either. Now in her 20’s she has applied and made it to be a Rookie Cop. Her mother passed away from Cancer and since she always kept her from danger she doesn’t think she would approve of her choice now. Her best friend Cara is taking her out to the bar Portia for a last minute freedom as Melissa starts work tomorrow. While they are drinking a gun shot was fired. As she will be a cop and didn’t want that to show up on her record she left and Cara stayed.
Detective August Silas was assigned to the bar Portia were the gunshot was. He looked at the security tapes and saw two women on there. He needs to find them. So Melissa the rookie is assigned to Detective Silas as her T.O. (training officer). After a day with her August’s bear likes her and wants to protect her.
That’s the beginning of the relationship of August and Melissa. There is action, blackmail, telephone hacking and so much more. Plus who is Paul Stark??

This is a great story. Melissa is starting her career as a cop and August is her partner. Things get very exciting when the past starts interfering with her current life. The characters are colorful and bring depth and substance to the storyline. The storyline has ups and downs, suspense, intrigue, romance, and love. Great story and I can’t wait for the next one.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Melissa and August. He’s a detective for the CPD and she’s a rookie cop just starting with CPD. For one last hoorah she and her BFF Cara go out to the speakeasy in town. They have both had found with the clubs owners. But that night is different, they witness a shooting, but Melissa flees the scene. When August gets assigned a new partner, he’s surprised it’s Melissa, she looks familiar and there is a connection he can’t explain. They work together but things go crazy when the club owner tries to blackmail Melissa and her estranged father shows up. Great quick read.

A really good bear shifter romance.
Lissa is just trying to find a place to fit in and she thinks she’s found it when she becomes a cop. But there is more to her than she even realizes and that’s why she feels the way she does. August is an alpha bear shifter who feels an immediate connection to Lissa and tries to deny it for about a split second.
This book does end on a pretty big cliffhanger but does have a “happy for now” ending.

This is a great first book in a new paranormal series by Mia Taylor that I am looking forward to reading as she releases more of the episodes. In this book we meet Melissa who is a cop in training and her mentor is the gorgeous all alpha male bear shifter August, who is also Leader of his Bear Clan. There is a definite connection between the two of them but August is slow to appreciate what it is! Great characters with steamy chemistry between the two of them. I enjoyed Mia’s writing style and her storyline. Can’t wait for book 2. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Definitely recommended

Melissa always wanted to be in the police force, as a kid her and her mom was always on the run from her father. August is a seasoned veteran on the Chicago police force, he is also a bear shifter. When Melissa is partnered with August’s he knows right away that she is his mate, but is confused because his always thought shifters only mates with other shifters. When Melissa is threatened by her past will August’s be able to save her? This was a great read Insta-love fast paced story. It was well written with interesting characters and an intriguing storyline. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

The start of a new series called Bears in Blue a well-written story that held my interest throughout.
This is a quick book to read. Imagine not knowing what you really are that is what Melissa is facing and it might have caught up to her. This story feels like it ties into the next book so I would say read these books in order. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Rookie Shift by Mia Taylor is the series opener for her new Bears in Blue series. This is Melissa and August’s story with an emphasis on Melissa. This quick read lays a good foundation for a series that shows promise. There are a few strong secondary characters, but the main focus is on Melissa and her background. This is not a stand alone read. There is some resolution, but there is an underlying theme that will carry forward.
