She was beautiful and naked and dying…Mike Romeo finds her in the fog, on the beach, staggering around like a drunk. But it’s not alcohol that’s in her — it’s poison. After getting this mysterious woman to the hospital, Romeo figures that’s the end of the matter. But it’s only the beginning. When the woman goes missing, Romeo is hired by her father to find her. But the trail grows cold, the … find her. But the trail grows cold, the circumstances strange. The people involved with her are a mix of L.A. odd and downright dangerous. There’s a washed-up Hollywood star hoping for a comeback; hired muscle willing to break bones just for the workout; a fight manager with underworld connections; and a strange cult predicting the return of angels to the earth.
And some very bad people who want Romeo dead.
From the posh beaches of Malibu to the dark corners of L.A.’s fight game, Romeo’s Hammer takes you on another thrill ride in the series that New York Times bestselling author Meg Gardiner calls “sharp as a switchblade.”

Good read.
A joy to read! Great “lessons” in religion and philosophy melded into the story line.
Another Jon Scott Bell winner!
Reviewed this book and gave it a positive review. Enjoyed it a d gave it a positive review. Read it if you want a good story to pass the time.
I’m guessing that Romeo is supposed to make my teeth hurt with his endless use of obscure quotes and using ten adjectives for every thought or deed. If so, he does.
The story isn’t bad, but, this is one of the most annoying main characters I have ever met (read?). He comes across as an over-educated boor. These books would be more enjoyable if he didn’t speak.
Is he supposed to be this annoying? Is there a reason for it? How is he still alive? Why hasn’t someone killed him just to shut him up?
I like Ira. How does Ira even tolerate Romeo? Considering who Ira is, Romeo is really lucky to have him for a friend.
I would recommend any of the Romeo series. The stories are well written and fast paced. The main character is well, a character. It’s just hard to put them down.
Great vocabulary builder!
The title character rescues a woman on a beach and gets involved when her father hires him to find her.
Have read all 5 books in this series and love the character development. Sometimes characters seem to be stuck in time but it’s fun to see the evolvement of Romeo. Very original concept!
Very smart read.
Too wordy.
an excellent entry into an excellent series.
A bit pretentious with the overblown sometimes obscure references, making assumptions that readers “ get” the reference.
Enjoyed
Smart reading
Great book. loved it!
An intellectual Jack Reacher character as protagonist makes this a great read.
A completely original hero in a thoroughly engrossing mystery. This is the first mystery I’ve read by James Scott Bell, who I’ve previously known as an author of books on writing. As he’s a proven expert in teaching writing, I should have picked up his fiction long before now. This is the 3rd book in a series with the unusual protagonist, a former wimpy kid genius who changes himself physically into a buffed, former cage fighter while retaining the kid genius who loves philosophy inside. That in itself is an interesting concept, but the mystery is deftly written and takes twists and turns there is no way I could have predicted. I loved it and highly recommend it as an intelligent read!
Fast action book with a great lead character. Keeps you reading to find out what will happen next.
Romeo’s Hammer by James Scott Bell was an interesting mystery/thriller. The humor and philosophical quotes as well as a tender soul beneath the hard hitting exterior make Michael Romeo a memorable character. The plot is well drawn, with elements from the Hollywood elite, to academia, to terrorists, political machinations, and drug and sex trafficking. An enjoyable read.
