A favorite author, Lana Williams creates intrigue during the Napoleon war. Richard, Earl of Aberland works for the Crown, but finds himself in a compromising position with a young lady and offers for her hand. Caroline is no ordinary young lady and refuses to accept staying out of Richards business, especially when she is forced by circumstances to be in the middle of it. I just couldn’t put this book down. The interplay between Caroline and Richard was fun and engaging. Loved the second epilogue! Gifted a copy by the author for an honest review.
Richard, Earl of Aberland, works for the British government as a spy and spycatcher, but society sees him as an impoverished rogue. Richard has three potential spies under surveillance in London, one of whom is Lord Wayfair. Cariline Gold is seeking a wealthy husband, not because she desires wealth, but because her father’s growing dementia has resulted in extensive business losses. Caroline feels she must wed in order to save her family. These three people are the main characters in this combination romance-mystery-spy novel. The book is well written and entertaining with an excellent plot.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book
07/03/2021 I enjoyed reading “Romancing the Rogue” (nook) but I had hoped for a bit more drama. Everything seemed to wrap-up all of a sudden. I was left feeling bereft. Ms. Williams is a very good author and I look forward to reading more of her books. I actually rate this book as 3 1/2 or 4 stars.
Honorable Earl proposes to penniless Lady and then the mysteries deepen. I enjoyed this book.

A fun, keep you on the edge of your seat story. Wonderful characters. Highly recommend this one. Ready for the next one.
You want intrigue? Check. You want suspense? Check. You want danger? Check. You want romance? Check. Wonderful story with great characters you want to meet. The story of two unlikely people getting stuck together who were hiding things from each other and society. Trust was a commodity given rarely. Suspicion was the cause of the day. Fear loomed around every corner. Threats from unexpected people were shocking. Danger stalked the innocent and the guilty. An excellent book. Not to be missed. A must read. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Romancing the Rogue is the first book in the Rogue Chronicles. I’ve read a lot of books by this author and I’ve never been disappointed. This book was Caroline and Richard’s story and it was a page turner! It grabbed my attention from the first page. Caroline Gold’s father has been having health problems and the family’s finances have suffered. She is trying to keep the household together and have a duke propose to her. Richard, the Earl of Aberland, is trying to locate a French spy who killed his best friend. Richard suspects the Duke of Wayfair and will observing him notices Caroline’s suspicious behavior. Fortunately for Caroline, Richard and her get caught in a compromising position and become engaged. The story is well written and extremely engaging. There are lots of twists and intrigue to the story. I loved the second epilogue. It really added closure to their HEA. This was a wonderful book to start the series and I can’t wait for the next one in the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I recieved a complimantary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
I really enjoyed this book. It is about Caroline and Richard. Caroline wants to marry for money to save her family and to protect her Father, Richard is an Earl and a spy. Richard and Caroline get into a situation which causes them to get engaged, neither of them really want this. Their growing attraction and the caring they feel for each other is what this book is about. There is a little mystery to keep it interesting, but not enough to take away from the love story. I did enjoy the 2 epilogues, it made a nice closure for me. I would not mind reading about Caroline sisters. This is the first book I have read by Lana Williams and it will not be my last!! She is now on my “Author to be read list”.
