Although I am sad to see this series end, it was a lovely ending. I little sad in places but mostly romantic. I have loved the whole series and I can’t recommend it enough. Even it’s not your normal genre, give it a go – you’ll see.
“Could she manage the pull of her heart’s desire for a partner – against her father’s needs and her love for him? She knew it would come to that. Did she have time for both of these men?”
I have really enjoyed this series and I’m sad to see it go! I want to know what happens to all of these amazing couples down the road!
Thomas Winters has been content being somewhat of a loner. His g-altered genes have left his face disfigured, making him feel as though no one would ever want him. He’s ok with that as long as Buster, his faithful dog, is by his side. Until she literally stumbles in to his life. She makes him long for things he thought he could never have. But, there are secrets that he’s been sworn to keep, and a decision he’s made that will change their relationship forever. Can they survive or will they both be destroyed in the process?
Kate Bentley has one focus. Her father. As his mind deteriorates, she does what she can to slow the process. No one knows, but she can see his memories as they leave him. She’s been capturing them and putting them back as often as she can, but it’s not enough and it pains her to know that eventually she’ll lose that battle. But, now that she’s met Thomas can she dare to hope for her own love and happiness, while her father needs her? Just when she thinks she’s got a handle on it, the secrets and lies come out. The life she thought was hers is nothing like she believed and Thomas has kept a big secret from her – one that changes everything. Should she let him explain or cut her losses and walk away?
This was a great series! The plot line was original and the characters were unique. This last book dealt with a heavy subject – Alzheimer’s Disease. It’s horrible to witnesses a loved one disappear but still be physically present, and that added a heaviness to this story. While there is an HEA, there is also a lot of sadness and heartbreak too. Wouldn’t it be great if we could capture memories as they left someone and put them back in? As Kate asks – would it matter if they were someone elses’s memories as long as they could remember SOMETHING?
