From #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn comes the story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, in the fourth of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring her charming, powerful Bridgerton family, now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix.
COLIN AND PENELOPE’S STORY
Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend’s brother for . . . well, it feels like … her best friend’s brother for . . . well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret . . . and fears she doesn’t know him at all.
Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought of as nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can’t seem to publish an edition without mentioning him. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad, he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same—especially Penelope Featherington! The girl who was always simply there is suddenly the girl haunting his dreams. When he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide . . . is she his biggest threat— or his promise of a happy ending?

Not anything like the Netflix type excitement. Too wordy and pretty boring. I have No idea how the next Netflix can be as good as the first, but they will really have to change the book’s stories.
Have loved all her books! Always like when the big bad hero falls to his knees for love…
I love any thing by this author.
Predictable, but a nice quick read with likeable characters.
Love all the Bridgerton books and have read them many times over!!! Penelope Featherington has long been one of my favorite characters in the stories and absolutely love her crush on Collin and that they finally get their chance!
Loved it!!
I love the series where there are books about each sibling, cousins, etc. And there are plenty of siblings in the Bridgerton books!!! I fancy myself to be somewhat of a Penelope. 🙂 Definitely recommend this to all!!!!
This series is wonderful, with great writing, amazing stories and captivating characters. Absolutely love the Bridgerton family, and Colin & Penelope are definitely some favorites!
Book 10 towards my goal of 240! 5/5 stars for this Regency Romance read! Another great addition to the Bridgerton series! This book follows Collin Bridgerton, the 3rd eldest. In most of the books so far, you either like the Bridgerton sibling or their love interest better than the other, but with this book I loved both equally! Loved getting to see the other siblings and spouses in this book as well! Julia Quinn writes such great side characters! Narration is great! Highly recommend!
Yes I’m still obsessed, this week I read An Offer from a Gentleman and Romancing Mister Bridgerton. I loved them both but I did enjoy more one than the other.
I loved loved loved an Offer From a Gentleman it’s an amazing retelling of Cinderella. I really enjoyed Sophie, she’s a strong woman what has pushed through and is still standing no matter what. Benedict is a very kind and chivalrous man and I adored him immediately.
Romancing Mr. Bridgerton was súper sweet I really love Colin and Pen they are a perfect match for each other.
I really enjoyed the fact that we can continue to see glimpses of the other characters and know how their lives are turning out.
So yeah I’m 4 books in and I’m still in love with this series.
Now my friends this blogger is going to submerge herself in Eloise’s story. Let’s see what Miss trouble is up to.
I’ve been re-reading the entire Bridgerton series in preparation for a Netflix binge and this one still stands as my favorite. Penelope! Colin! I was in love with these two before the book even began and watching them get their happily-ever-after was so satisfying. LOVE.
My favorite Julia Quinn book, hands down. I’ve reread this at least four times and I loved it every time.
I think I had a bit of a hard time seeing the main characters connect. This book took me longer to finish than normal, but it was still good. Im not sure if I was shocked on who Lady Whistledown was, maybe a bit of a let down? Im just unsure about how I feel on that. Colin I think had a big grand gesture towards the end. Onto the next one still!
This is my favorite out of the first four books. This series has been a hard sell for me since my unfavorable experience with the first book. After the third book, I considered cutting my losses, but the Netflix series and my stubbornness spurred me on.
I loved Collin and Penelope’s romance. It was highly romantic and even had me experiencing a few emotional “feels.”
I’m only giving it 4 stars for now (a much higher rating than the previous books) and who knows, I might just bump it up as time goes by and I’ve read more of the series.
Colin Bridgerton is well-known for being the most friendly and affable man in all of London. His sister’s best friend, Penelope Featherington, has long been in love with him and, after admiring him for most of her life, she thinks she knows all there is to know about him. But there’s more to Colin than meets the eye and when Penelope learns a secret about him, she questions whether she truly knows him at all.
Colin Bridgerton is weary of being known for nothing but his charm, rather than something of substance. It doesn’t help that he’s mentioned almost constantly in Lady Whistledown’s wildly popular gossip column. When Colin returns to London from one of his many trips abroad, he finds things have subtly changed in his absence, the most drastic of these changes being Penelope Featherington, or at least his perception of her. He finds himself seeing her in a different light, and in his more salacious dreams. When he discovers Penelope has secrets too, Colin must decide if he’s threatened by her or if he’s found the perfect woman for him right under his very nose.
This is my new favorite of the series so far. Colin’s protectiveness of Penelope was so swoonworthy that the overprotectiveness he sometimes exhibited didn’t even bother me. Penelope certainly deserved to have someone in her corner at last. Colin did get irrationally angry at times when he feared for Penelope’s safety, but this anger was short-lived and the communication between Colin and Penelope was, for the most part, mature and open, and probably my favorite aspect of the book. It’s always so satisfying when the overlooked wallflower gets the guy everyone else wants and Colin took every opportunity to openly show his love and devotion to Penelope. These two kept their focus on each other and made their relationship a priority, even when facing tough challenges and decisions, and I loved how they worked through things together. I think Colin and Penelope wound up bringing out the best in each other and that made this book so endearing for me. I listened to this as an audiobook and enjoyed the narration. Now I look forward to the next book and getting to the bottom of Eloise’s mysterious correspondence.
A nice continuation of the Bridgerton family series.
I just started this series in 2020. I really liked it until An Offer From A Gentleman. That book I really didn’t like. But this book here made up for it. It was an excellent read. The plot was engaging, the characters lovable. It was romantic and vivid. An excellent edition to the series. Can’t wait to read the next one!
This is hands-down my favorite Bridgerton book so far I have been rooting for Penelope from the beginning of the series and I absolutely adored reading about her & Colin. This book has such a perfect amount of humor, romance and just plain-old fun, definitely going to be read more than once!
This is by far my favorite book ever. There’s just something about the characters that draw me in and keep me reading. This is one of the few books that I re-read almost every year.
This story is my favorite of the series thus far. These two characters, who were friends first, embark on a journey of deeper friendship born from honesty and vulnerability. They grow and blossom in this story with great humor, understanding, and love. All the Bridgerton’s once again prove to be the tight-knit family I’ve come to love. I especially enjoyed Lady Danbury in this installment and of course the ever-popular, infamous Lady Whistledown. Julia Quinn provided a great friends-to-lovers story for this unlikely yet perfectly matched pair.
