From #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn comes the story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, in the fourth of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring her charming, powerful Bridgerton family, now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix.
COLIN AND PENELOPE’S STORY
Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend’s brother for . . . well, it feels like … her best friend’s brother for . . . well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret . . . and fears she doesn’t know him at all.
Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought of as nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can’t seem to publish an edition without mentioning him. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad, he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same—especially Penelope Featherington! The girl who was always simply there is suddenly the girl haunting his dreams. When he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide . . . is she his biggest threat— or his promise of a happy ending?

Always entertaining !
I will never be able to say this enough times, but I LOVE PENELOPE! She is my favorite character of any book ever. She’s sweet and kind, but she is smart and witty. Her story is amazing.
Apart from my obsession with our heroine, this book is fantastic! It’s funny and romantic and a bit of a mystery when everyone is trying to figure out Lady Whistledown’s true identity. I must admitt that I had figured out who it was before reading this book. It was still a good “mystery” however until my suspicions were proved to be true.
Lastly, Colin Bridgerton is my favorite Bridgerton brother. (He would be my favorite sibling if not for Hyacinth.) He proves in this book that he does have some faults and can be insecure which makes him much more real. I’m glad he finds his calling.
This is one my favorites of Julia Quinn’s work. I suggest that anyone looking for a true romance should read this book, however, I do suggest starting from the beginning with The Duke and I and continuing through the series to this one. Penelope and Colin are both present in those previous books, and they set up the story a little.
This book will always have a place in my heart. I first read it as a teenager and it was the first romance heroine I’d ever read who was decidedly not the belle of the ball. This book is funny and emotional and just glorious.
I really loved this book. I now use the word in my vocabulary
Absolutely love everything I have read by Julia Quinn! The Bridgerton Series is an excellent read.
