Quick read. Typical fairy tale ending. Deals with several family issues. In the end the relationship of the teenagers ends in adult romance after struggling through some issues.
First Book in Two Series 4.5*
In Too Deep 4* – Had mixed feelings about this book, I hated how her brother and West treated and blamed Piper for the past, even after West had treated her so badly. I also thought her mother, who seemed to be a kick ass woman, should have attempted to visit her daughter during those nine years to help heal her. Having said all that, the story was engaging and emotional with a HEA.
Hide Your Heart 5* – Lauren and her son escaped her abusive marriage and returned to Bounty Bay to heal and hide from the paparazzi. Her property is isolated but family live nearby and she doesn’t need anyone else; until that is photojournalist Nate turns up to renovate and sell the house next door. Loved the characters, the back story and how Lauren came to trust. Very well written, highly recommended.
The author does a good job of building not just the characters of the protagonists, but of a whole community. I always feel like I am dropping in on old friends when I read her books.
Both of these stories were cute and could be read alone. These stories were short and easy to read. The characters were a little stubborn but eventually figured out what everyone knew.
Love the New Zealand setting
Two Beautiful Stories
Thee first is about being able to go back home, renew a first love, help family and get answers to a lot of questions. The 2nd story is about trusting again and finding love.
Excellent book set to draw you into Down Under New Zealand. Both books are fast reads, because I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen. Very enjoyable, well written reads.
The first book “In Too Deep”, Piper is heading back home after being away for 9 years, and working with the Police Special Dive, Search, Recover Team, taking time off to help her brother Ben. Piper had left behind her family and her boy friend right after her father had died during a free style dive. Piper had been his safety watch when diving, but that morning Piper was distracted. Piper was hurt because West, her boy friend broke up with her and she missed her Dad struggling. By the time Piper recovered her Dad, and she knew he was gone, she had to let him go, as sharks were circling. Going home, Piper was facing many ghost, her family, and West. She thought she could handle everything, yet she had resolved nothing all those years, and the past was hunting for resolve, and hopefully peace at last.
The 2nd book, “Hide Your Heart”, Lauren had went back to her home town, with her young son, living close to her brother, but secluded from town, only going to town when she need. Lauren was back in New Zealand after modeling on the catwalk of New York, Malian, Paris, and having been married to the millionaire that used her as an arm ornament. Lauren stayed until her husband decided to use her as a punching bag when she didn’t do has he wished or wanted. Fearful that her husband would turn on their son after having hurt Lauren badly, she and her son left, divorced and hid.
Lauren was always anxious someone would recognize her and her picture and story would land in the news, to her where about. Trying to get back to her house after time in town with her son, getting supplies, a snow storm landed her car in a ditch. Sitting to far from her home, and far enough from town, she was debating to take her son and try and walk. But having hurt her ankle trying to free her car, she was at a lose, until a pickup truck pulled behind her and the man offered to take her home. With no choice, but to freeze with her son, or except help, she agreed to let the stranger help. Nate introduced himself, Lauren just giving first name and giving directions to her home, the only consolation was Nate was very kind to her and her son, and helpful when getting her home and taking care of her, starting the fireplace and letting her son, Drew, talk him into making “monkey roni”. Then finding that Nate would be a neighbor, repairing an old home to sell and be used as a celebrity get away home. Lauren’s panic was, how to stop Nate from bring celebs to her door, she wanted kept away. Was her heart going to let things be? Very intriguing, heart warming, happy ever-after, well written.
Another good writing artist I enjoy reading.
Made me laugh and cry which is my idea of a winner!
