Oh these Carolina Cold Fury men. Each have something that makes my heart beat faster. This is Roman Sýkora, he is a bad boy on the ice and a ladies man off. And he gets more than his share of negative press. When he is called in to the managers office and told to tone it down, he thinks it’s only hockey and fighting on the ice is part of the game and the women come with the bad boy image, so why change.
Lexi Robertson is just a ukulele playing barista. She came to Raleigh to meet her father Brian Brannon and half sister Gray, CEO and manager of the world championship hockey team. She has learned a little about hockey, not really but she wants to. While sitting in the waiting room to finally meet her Dad, she meets the sexy bad boy Roman. He first seems intimidating but turns out he is more of a loaner with a big heart.
And then there is Brian Brannon, a 61 year young stud. As to quote Georgia. He has basically been alone since Gray’s Mom died. Yes he has dated but no one got under his skin like Georgia has. And Brian never thought that he would be drawn to a wild, speak what’s on her mind kinda woman. But he just might be falling fast. And Georgia is falling too.
Will Lexi let Roman and Gray’s dislike for each other cause her to be unhappy? Will Roman let Lexi leave him or will he swallow his pride to keep her? Can Brian and Lexi help Roman and Gray move from this child-like feud? Can Georgia and Brian keep the feelings strong and have the perfect relationship?
Sawyer Bennett has done it again, she knows how to write these sexy, brooding men that we all fall for. This is not just one perfect story with Roman and Lexi, it is two including Brian and Georgia. I am loving everything about this series and I can’t wait Lucas’ story.

#7 in the Cold Fury Hockey series by Sawyer Bennett, this one was a page turner for me. Chapters go from a characters point of view, and this one had 3 different POVs. I liked the development of the new characters with the old. Loved the secondary story line as well.
Not required, but you should read all of Sawyer Bennett’s books in the series in order to really enjoy the lives of all these characters.
Roman is a troublemaker, bad boy, and all around player but he has met the one makes him look twice and she turns out to be the secret daughter of the CEO of the Cold Fury and half sister of the General Manager (AKA his boss). Lexi and Roman just happen to meet as she is waiting for an appointment with Brian Bannon and he is heading in to a meeting with Gray. Oh what a tangled web this turns out to be but it is so worth it. Lexi is all sorts of goodness wrapped up in a ukulele playing barista. Can she tame the bad boy?
This series just keeps getting better! Each of these can be read as a standalone.

I am absolutely in awe of the Cold Fury Hockey Men. I have read all of the previous books and have enjoyed each one of them. Now Roman, he does what he wants, says what he wants and does not care if there is anyone who does not like him for it. Underneath it all he does have the capability to love. Lexi is there to meet her father Brian, and half sister Gray. She meets Roman while waiting for Brian, and Roman is instantly smitten with her. Lexi and Roman are amazing couple. Some would say they are perfect for one another. Sawyer Bennett is one of my favorite authors.
Another enjoyable, engaging and enthralling read by Sawyer Bennett.
Roman, fan me down, I loved him. A playboy, a guy with a hot-headed reputation on the ice but when the right girl comes along he does a complete one-eighty.
Roman is sweet, sexy and swoon-worthy.
I was pulled into Lexi and Roman’s story right from the beginning and loved the journey of all the characters.
Lexi discovers after her mother’s death that she has a father, Brian
Brannon, boss of The Cold Fury hockey team also a sister Gray from the previous book Ryker who is Brians daughter.
Lexi’s journey to finding love and a new family is brilliant, Lexi is a goofy, ukulele playing barista and an instantly likable character.
Sawyer Bennett doesn’t stop there though, oh no no no no, you get the added bonus of Brian also finding love with Georgia who has been a mother figure for Lexi.
Georgia is a straight-talking southern sassy woman who sweeps Brian right off his feet with her no-nonsense demands for a date. I loved her character.
You get Brian, Lexi and Roman’s pov throughout this book and it’s all balanced out brilliantly.
Not a hockey fan? The plot is completely focused on the characters and what’s going on in their lives, yes it includes talk of games, other players or training etc but that’s as far as it goes. Hockey is merely the setting for the characters. So if you don’t like sports romance don’t write this series off.
A story of new beginnings, new friendships, new relationships with added hotness and a thoroughly enjoyable plot.
Really looking forward to Sawyer Bennett’s next book her writing is addictive.
Roman and Lexi are adorable. Lexi is the daughter that Brian Brannon never knew about. How she folds into the lives of the Brannon’s is interesting, she is welcomed by Brian and not so much by Gray. Roman is the bad-boy of the team and already established as the one most likely to butt heads with the general manager. So Lexi and Roman have their challenges. I really liked both the main characters a lot. Gray was a real pain in this story, almost to the point of taking away from the 5-star rating. She didn’t need to be so rude. The sub story about Brian and Georgia was adorable and really a nice twist to this one. Definitely a fun installment to the Cold Fury. It would stand alone, but I do believe these are best read in order for the most enjoyment. Not a lot of overlap in this one, but having read Ryker’s story would be helpful.
I have always attempted to give ‘star’ ratings on my completed reads, just as a tracking method for my titles that I have completed. I have unlimited packages for audio, kindle, and utilize the local/state library.
However, I do not check the ‘I recommend this book’ unless I am willing to reread a book and or a series.
[I read about 5-15 books a month through kindle, and I listen to about 15-30 books monthly]
I have a full life as a nurse, professor, wife, daughter [daughter in law], sister, and mother. I love to read and love a thousand other lives by turning the pages in countless books.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide a review. Happy reading 🙂
I’m so very in love with Roman. I want to read the rest of the series but he was so sweet and sexy at the same time. I am a sucker for a bad boy who reforms for the right woman.
This book was so much more than your typical sports romance. The characters are funny, intelligent, honest, full of depth and living real relationship and family issues. This book will take your emotions on a ride…I’m not done with these characters I hope they make an appearance later in the series.
The Carolina Cold Fury is one of my favorite series. Roman’s book was a bit different because it is told from three POV’s. At first I wasn’t sure I cared to have Brian’s POV but his were few and the book truly focused on Roman and Lexi. If you haven’t picked up this series yet…do it! You won’t be disappointed.
Another good book in a great series
I kind of came into the Cold Fury Series late in the game and started with Max. I was completely surprised about how much I liked him because he was so freaking sweet and that isn’t normally my thing. What is my thing? Bad boys and jerks. So when I read the blurb for Roman, I was instantly excited and admittedly had high hopes. While I enjoyed this book, I felt like I was missing the bad boy part of it. I needed more of that.
Roman is the rebel of the Cold Fury hockey team. Both professionally and personally. He’s never really had to listen to anyone and he pretty much just plays by his own rules. Lately, that’s gotten him into some trouble and he’s been asked to dial it back. He doesn’t really have any desire to do that until he runs meets Lexi. There’s something about her eccentric personality that calls to him.
Lexi is new to town, searching to connect with the father that she just learned about. Her main focus is to get to know both her father and her half sister, who just so happens to be the CEO and GM of Cold Fury. As they work to get to know each other, a protectiveness forms and warnings start flying about the bad boy hockey player. Lexi must face a reality where the man she wants to be with just might not be the man her new family approves of.
This book almost had two different stories in it that were all connected. There are POV from Brian Brannon, which is the father that Lexi learns about and confronts him. While I enjoyed his POV, I think it took a little aways from Roman and Lexi’s story. Honestly, I was more intrigued with him and his love interest, Georgia by the end of it. I’m kind of torn because without it, I wouldn’t get the full experience of the family aspect since he brings a lot to the table with that but at the same time I got distracted with him and almost put Lexi and Roman in the backseat.
Don’t get me wrong. I did enjoy this book. I just felt like I wasn’t able to give my full attention to the main love story so it felt slightly off for me.
If you are looking for a bad boy who is actually a sweetheart, then this is the book for you.
Roman is a passionate man, “I did,” he growls, looking slightly vexed. “But apparently have I no effing self-control where you’re concerned.” I loved this book, Roman was so sweet on Lexi.
My ovaries exploded too Lexi!
Roman, Roman, Roman… how is a lady supposed to resist you? What, with your bad boy games and hockey player ways? I know I didn’t stand a chance!
I loved seeing this side of Gray and Brian Bannon this time around.
Lexi is this amazing woman and character that is so quirky and fun. Seeing her interaction with everyone made me laugh more than a few times.
I loved this next chapter in the Cold Fury family!
3.5 Bad Boy of Hockey Stars. This is book seven in the Cold Fury Hockey series and it’s all about the team’s bad boy, Roman Sykora. Roman came to the US from the Czech Republic when he was a teenager to make a name for himself in hockey. His job is to be an enforcer on the ice. He does it well. He does it by pushing the limits and intimidating his opponents. He’s good at it. He’s also a loner who takes his intimidation tactics off the ice. Now he’s in trouble with Cold Fury’s GM.
Lexi is on a mission to meet her father. She never knew who he was until her mother’s deathbed confession. Now, it’s time to break the news to her father and to regain a family. Her father? He’s the owner of the Cold Fury. As she nervously sits in the lobby waiting for her appointment with Brian Brannon, she meets Roman Sykora who is there to meet with the GM. They find an instant connection while bantering back and forth. Amazingly, both seem to instantly “get” the other one. That’s something that hasn’t happened for either Roman or Lexi before.
This one is a fun, flirty, and steamy story that will make you feel good. It’s quick and engaging, without a lot of high drama.
Da…rn Woman….. Keep those Cold Fury books coming!!! WHAT A BOOK. I love this series!!! Each and every book in this series, about the Cold Fury team gets better and better. My top three books/players are Max, Ryker and now, I have added Roman to my favorites.
I love a “Bad Boy” that is not as bad as he and everybody else thinks he is. Roman Sykora really has a heart of gold. It just took the right woman, Lexi Robertson. Roman met Lexi at the Cold Fury offices, and from the very first site, knew there was something about her. There is just one problem… she is the, sister of the General Manager, Gray Brannon who happens to hate Roman, and the daughter of the team owner, Brian Brannon.
Lexi returns home to take care of her mom while she loses the battle against cancer. During this time, her mom tells her the story about her father, Brian Brannon and how much she loved him. However, before she knew she was pregnant, he had broken things off. He was still too much in love with his late wife. She never told him she was pregnant. Now, Lexi has come to the Cold Fury office introduce herself to the father she never knew, where she sees Roman for the first time.
I loved watching these two fall in love, but is she ready to stand between Roman and her family? I think so, and you need to read this book to find out how she does it. My heart was in my throat when Lexi leaves her birthday dinner when…. STOP, no spoilers from me, but let me say this, I love when Brian pulls no punches… oops, I said no spoilers.
Thank you, Sawyer Bennett for writing such incredible books. Thank you, Random House Publishing – Loveswept for publishing this phenomenal series. I was gifted with an ARC of this spectacular book for my honest opinion.
Thank you for reading my review. Now do yourself a favor and go purchase this book
This series has my attention…..sexy hockey players are always a winner. I would recommend reading the previous books in this series because the past characters make frequent appearances. Sexy, enjoyable read
