17 year old Ceres, a beautiful, poor girl from the Empire city of Delos, finds herself forced, by royal decree, to fight in the Stade, the brutal arena where warriors from all corners of the world come to kill each other. Pitted against ferocious opponents, her chances of survival are slim. Her only chance lies in drawing on her innermost powers, and making the transition, once and for all, from … from slave to warrior.
18 year old Prince Thanos wakes on the isle of Haylon to discover he has been stabbed in the back by his own people, left for dead on the blood-soaked beach. Captured by the rebels, he must crawl his way back to life, find who tried to assassinate him, and seek his revenge.
Ceres and Thanos, a world apart, have not lost their love for each other; yet the Empire court teems with lies, betrayal and duplicity, and as jealous royals weave intricate lies, they each, in a tragic misunderstanding, are led to believe the other is dead. The choices they make will determine each other’s fate.
Will Ceres survive the Stade and become the warrior she was meant to be? Will Thanos heal and discover the secret being withheld from him? Will the two of them, forced apart, find each other again?

couldn’t stop reading waiting to get the next books.
A book with a strong female character
Think this might be written for a teen reader- lost interest as too many impossible things happened one after another and some characters not very realistic.
I enjoyed the book and looked forward to the second however I quit the second book half-way through. The characters didn’t develop at all and the phrase “didn’t have time to move” was repeated it seemed to be on every other page. For a person who has an uncanny ability to fight the whole premise of being attacked all the time and never being ready an still never getting hurt can only happen once, maybe twice but not every fight scene
Amazing
If you beginning to read this book you just can’t stop reading that’s how great it is
I enjoyed this book very much ,good read. You never knew what would happen next. I do feel like it should have been a boxed set though, so you didn’t have to wait to read Thanos’ story. .
‘.
Great series. Interesting characters. Segments are a bit short. Each reveals a bit more about the very likeable but trashy mouthed heroine and her challenging life.
Just not good enough for the genre
The story was too disjointed jumping from one character to another until I lost interest.
Did not hold my interest.
Suspenseful, I can’t wait to read the next one in the series. I really enjoyed it.
Couldn’t even finish it, it was so boring.
Loved the whole series. Great that the hero is a woman!
Good development of the story. Doesnt fall into that terrible cliche of sci-fi series where you feel they are really padding in order to get 5 books out of a 3 book story
Good need more
Just couldn’t read any more
Sets you up for sequels.
Very enjoyable
Enjoyed it – kept me interested.
