17 year old Ceres, a beautiful, poor girl from the Empire city of Delos, finds herself forced, by royal decree, to fight in the Stade, the brutal arena where warriors from all corners of the world come to kill each other. Pitted against ferocious opponents, her chances of survival are slim. Her only chance lies in drawing on her innermost powers, and making the transition, once and for all, from … from slave to warrior.
18 year old Prince Thanos wakes on the isle of Haylon to discover he has been stabbed in the back by his own people, left for dead on the blood-soaked beach. Captured by the rebels, he must crawl his way back to life, find who tried to assassinate him, and seek his revenge.
Ceres and Thanos, a world apart, have not lost their love for each other; yet the Empire court teems with lies, betrayal and duplicity, and as jealous royals weave intricate lies, they each, in a tragic misunderstanding, are led to believe the other is dead. The choices they make will determine each other’s fate.
Will Ceres survive the Stade and become the warrior she was meant to be? Will Thanos heal and discover the secret being withheld from him? Will the two of them, forced apart, find each other again?

This belongs in the middle of another book. It is book 2 in a series. It should be that book 1, 2, and 3 are all in one book. It is a good read just left me feeling that I missed previously needed info and then it left me wanting more, but not in a good way. This book felt as if it had no closing to it.
I hate to be that guy, critical of an author I normally enjoy reading but this series, has been thrown together, and it seems she has just churned these books out for a quick buck. The story is interesting enough but character development and storyline are lacking, they are obviously targeted toward younger teens who want lots of random action, ridiculous love triangles and paper targets for characters.
I just am not enjoying it.
it was so awsome my favorite character is the girl witch is the main character so keep up the good work i think you should make more of these books
This is one of the best books I’ve ever read!!
I like this book for the most part except for up to the ending part where Thanos falls Stephania way too fast, literally right after receiving the news of Ceres death. I continued reading the 3rd book and it continued to frustrate and disappoint. I hate the development of their “relationship” or rather complete lack there of as they fell in love over the span of 2 weeks or something like that. Disappointing. Setting/scenery and other descriptions are lacking and so is character development but I could but that aside had I not been frustrated with the plot.
2nd book in a series. Good read but wish I had read book 1 first. Not sure I am interested enough to find books 1 & 3 to read them as well.
Liked it enough to read the follow up books
Took a while to get into it. Wasn’t exactly riveting but was good to have in the background while doing other things. The book ends abruptly and you feel forced to buy the next book if you want to continue the story.
I read this book a while back and it is one of the reasons that I became addicted to Morgan Rice and her wonderful writing!
I like this series. The author has a way of telling a great overall story. Each book in the series introduces the characters and develops them to a deep level. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters. While I was a little impatient with what seemed to be cliche misunderstandings, the author often took them in a different direction. It’s a good solid story.
bit disappointed wasn’t as good as the first one
Not worth finishing. Reader is given very little insight into characters. Things just happen.
This is my favorite author. I will ready every books she writes. I love her characters come alive in the pages she writes.
Do you like knights, fair maidens. Kings Queens, and court intrique? This is a good read for the maturing youth, and older folks who just like knights of the round table with gladiator mixed in.
Start with Thanos, who finds himself stabbed in the back. (Continuation of book 1.) Left for dead as the legion proceeds to attack the citizens of the island. Then on to Ceres who fights for her life in the stade. (Remember gladiator?)
Very interesting tale of two people right for each other but dealt a crippling blow by those who want them for their own purposes.
Unexpectedly original and wonderfully written!
I like it when the story starts NOW – then keeps me up all night. Yes, I like this book.
I especially like it when the book ends, but I can tell the story continues. Yes, I like this book.
I liked the book. I found the characters a bit lacking but overall, it’s an easy read with a world that was easy to visualize for me.
This second book in the series is just as good as the first one. I like the characters and the storylines.
I enjoyed the book except for the “comedy of errors” theme throughout Bk 1 &
Bk 2. It couldn’t help being frustrating at times.
Good read but abrupt ending right in the middle of the story. Author looking for you to continue buying next bols
