#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY THE WASHINGTON POST AND NPR • Featuring one of John Grisham’s most colorful, outrageous, and vividly drawn characters yet, Rogue Lawyer showcases the master of the legal thriller at his very best. On the right side of the law—sort of—Sebastian Rudd is not your typical street lawyer. His office is a customized bulletproof … lawyer. His office is a customized bulletproof van, complete with Wi-Fi, a bar, a small fridge, and fine leather chairs. He has no firm, no partners, and only one employee: his heavily armed driver, who also so happens to be his bodyguard, law clerk, confidant, and golf caddie. Sebastian drinks small-batch bourbon and carries a gun. He defends people other lawyers won’t go near: a drug-addled, tattooed kid rumored to be in a satanic cult; a vicious crime lord on death row; a homeowner arrested for shooting at a SWAT team that mistakenly invaded his house. Why these clients? Because Sebastian believes everyone is entitled to a fair trial—even if he has to bend the law to secure one.
Praise for Rogue Lawyer
“Terrific . . . inventive . . . Grisham still makes it look easy.”—Maureen Corrigan, The Washington Post
“Sebastian Rudd is . . . a kind of twenty-first-century Philip Marlowe . . . with a blunt, rude, gravelly poetic wiseguy voice.”—Benjamin Percy, The New York Times Book Review
“Deeply engaging and entertaining . . . [Grisham finds] intense drama in the little skirmishes that play out across our legal system every day.”—Charles Finch, USA Today
“Grisham has taken a step in an intriguing new direction.”—Janet Maslin, The New York Times

This is John Grisham at his absolute best. In this book he shows examples of the messes that are brought before our legal system every day. Sebastian Rudd is a different kind of lawyer for Grisham. Read the book and find out about him!!!
Always love Grisham and this one was especially entertaining. I love his concise, outlaw lawyer characters and his sentence structure that is to the point without a lot of fluff. Realistic, gritty dialogue. Always a good read.
Enjoy your time wit this book. I did!
The Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham is a wonderful read. While reading I could almost see this as the prequel to Michael Connelly’s Mickey Haller series. Wrong! The most recent book in the Michael Connelly’s Mickey Haller series was released in 2013. Rogue Lawyer was released two years later in 2015. That said, Sebastian Rudd, the Rogue Lawyer, has his office in an armor protected van and his driver, named Partner, chauffeur’s him around town. He deals in clients with the deck stacked against them. There are a series of court cases he fights that can almost work as stand-alone short stories. However, through it all is the incident, arrest, and trial of a cage fighter who attacks the referee in the cage following a fight and beats him to a pulp. A great read and I highly recommend it!
Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham well written and fast paced, loads of twists and suspense. Narration by Mark Deakins is spot on I hope to find more books he’s read. Highly recommended!!!
Grisham books are always a good read..
I loved this book–hope he writes another one about S.Rudd
Grisham is the best, period
John Grisham delivers again. Sebastian Rudd is not your typical lawyer and collects all sorts of cases. This is a wild ride in the back of his van/office. We love the always quiet Partner. While this is absolutely NOT the caliber of A Time To Kill, it is well worth the time taken to read it.
Its like watching a movie when you read a Grisham book.
John Grisham never dissapoints!
I really enjoyed this book and didn’t want it to end. There’s a surprise around every corner. Please keep writing and continue with these characters!
Fun to read!
More of what I most prefer with Grisham, a legal novel. I’vd liked the majority of his books, and read them all. But I most prefer his legal novels, and several I have reread after a year or so. This one is in that latter category.
I think maybe the Amazon made for video Goliath was based on this book. I learned about cage fighting. The characters are well developed. The plot is captivating. A fun action book that totally entertains.
