A rogue fae is on the loose and leaving death in its wake. The Nashville coven is in a tizzy, which is to be expected. Murder does tend to bring out peoples’ anxiety. What’s unexpected is that the coven asks visiting witches Gwenn, Rena, and Emily, to help find the fae throwing Nashville into disarray. After all, they have the rare magical skill set no one in the coven can boast. However, as the … one in the coven can boast.
However, as the trio follows the clues the fae left, they unearth something fishy. There seems to be more to the string of death and destruction the fae left behind than meets the eye. One member of the coven is being aggressive, and Gwenn can’t help but feel uncomfortable around another.
And that’s not even considering the decades-long feud between the fae tribe and the witches that the trio unearths.
A feud no one in the Nashville coven bothered to mention.
Coincidence? The trio thinks not.
Now all they have to do is prove it.
Rogue Fae is a prequel, stand-alone novella to The Starseed Trilogy. If you like realistic, smart characters and fast-paced mystery steeped in deceit and small-town politics you’ll love it!

Rogue Fae is a murder mystery with a magical twist surrounded by witches trying to solve the crime and the price that goes with their discovery. What a vacation three witches Gwen, Rena, and Emily find themselves on.
Gwenn McKay a witch from Ireland is on vacation in America when she meets a fellow witch Rena Whiplark who is traveling across country herself. Gwenn and Rena hit it off real quick. When Rena finds out that Gwenn is on vacation she invites Gwenn to travel with her. So they set out on their journey going from place to place and seeing all the sites.
Instead of staying in motel rooms they call up other witches and ask to stay with their coven. While on one their expeditions they meet another witch Emily Harp who is an empath. They stop for the night at a Nashville coven and learn that one of their members has been killed by a rogue fae and three human women have gone insane as well. The Nashville coven asks Gwenn, Rena, and Emily to help investigate their friend’s death.
This has been an epic journey following along with Rena, Gwenn, and Emily and watching the magic fly. I really loved reading Prophecy of Three the first book in the Starseed Trilogy and couldn’t wait to dive into Rogue Fae and read about three of the women from Prophecy of Three and learning more about their magic. I can’t wait to read more in the Starseed Universe as I know it is going to be out of this world. The Prophecy of Three and the Rogue Fae is just the beginning of an epic world.
If you like reading about witches, Faes with lots of magic around every corner then you are going to love this new series into the Starseed Universe.
As a fan of McLeo’s Starseed Trilogy full-length novels, it was exciting to indulge further into her magical universe with this novella. The story focuses on characters from these books and gives the reader a look into the past when their lives were less complicated and the magical world less deadly. The characters introduced in Roque Fae are the foundation to which her trilogy, set in the future, is built. It was intriguing to see them in a different setting, younger and unencumbered by responsibility, free to explore life.
While Roque Fae, in keeping with McLeo’s fantasy world, was full of supernatural creatures it also featured an element of mystery, a magical whodunnit that has the reader looking for clues and a suspect along with the characters.
As expected, McLeo’s stories enchant once again, opening the Starseed universe even further for all of us to enjoy.
I love reading all of Ashley McLeos books. They have me hooked within the first few pages and the action never stops!
A Tale Of Greed That’s Set Right By Witches!!
I read this book as part of the Starseed Universe Box Set. It’s set before the Starseed Trilogy & tells us how the girls Aunt Gwenn met Rena & also the empath Emily!!
Once they’ve all met, first it’s Gwenn & Rena after a Cher concert who then start travelling the USA together. They stop at a gay bar for a pint & meet Emily. they’re all chatting & it’s apparent she’s a Witch too, they hear her sad tale of marital abuse & then invite her to join them on their journey to the Nashville Coven. She’s really comfortable with young couple & agrees.
They stumble into a possible Fae/Witch murder and Emily offers to help her her empath abilities to see if she can get a read on what happened, the coven agrees. This starts to unravel a mystery that isn’t as simple as the Coven seemed to think it would be!!
I enjoyed this book. I really liked seeing how Gwenn & Rena met considering how important that connection became in the main trilogy!!
