The Rogue Beyond the Wall Series: Book 1A journey always starts somewhere.Nicholas is sixteen and not on the path his father (Isaiah) expected. He is King of the Rogues, though there is more to that story than meets the eye, and his father is personal healer and spell caster for King William of Haven. Or at least, they used to be. That all changes when a warrant is issued for Nicholas’ arrest and … arrest and his father reaps the consequences of his mysterious escape. But unbeknownst to them is that they are not alone in their fates. At their sides is the spirit of Brida, Nicholas’ little sister.

I am completely blown away! A prequel series, about Nicholas and Isaiah… Wow! I snatched up this book the moment I realized what I was looking at, and then waited impatiently for it to arrive. I was, however, a bit nervous when I noticed the multiple point-of-views. Not many authors can write a story through the eyes of different characters and keep the world flowing, keep the readers on track with what is happening and who they are following. This author, though… Beautiful writing, unique setup, and spot on reader to character connections. I was captivated the entire way through this book. The author definitely has talent in telling stories.
I can’t wait to read the rest of The Rogue Beyond the Wall Series, and to see more of The Sorceress Saga.
A rich fantasy world!
Set in a vast fantasy world, Rogue Beyond the Wall follows young Nicholas as he begins a harrowing journey, on the run from the Kingdom he called home in order to save his own life and freedom. From the start, this book jumps right into a series of intense, adventure sequences that set up the story . As the protagonist makes his escape, we are introduced to new characters along the way who seem to know more about the boy than he does. The writer brilliantly unravels the plot a little bit at a time with snippets of information and character action. The characters themselves are well developed and its easy to understand what drives them individually.
This was a fast, fun read set in a rich fantasy world. I highly recommend it to fans of fantasy and adventure.
Note: I am in no way related to this author. Last name is purely coincidental.
A captivating journey filled with twists and turns, action, emotion, suspense, and an ending no one will expect. Oh, and magic! This is a wonderful telling of Nicholas’ life ten years before Aria, when he is only sixteen and still growing up to become the man we all know in The Sorceress Saga. Readers of the original series will enjoy the insights into not only the mind of Nicholas, but those closest to him that impacted his life.
But the story only starts here. I am personally excited for the next book(s) in The Rogue Beyond the Wall Series, and I am sure others will feel the same.
Spoilers –
Nicholas just renounced his title of four years as King of the Rogues to his second in command, Rusty. Rusty has just put out word that Nicholas is King of the Rogues and a warrant is out for his arrest. He must leave the magically protected city and escape. His father is the magician of the protection and somehow he escapes into the forest. The characters are strong and determined. The ones who assist the father and son are gypsies and immortal brothers, who each have unique gifts as well. Healing comes via many ways and trust slowly is given. The adventure continues in snow, wagons, ships, and even a monastery. Loved the owl that brought news and even wished the father a happy birthday on time. This book is not the ending, but has a great place to end, leaving hope for the future.
