Rocky Point Inn is the first story I have read by Barbara McMahon but wow! What a story it is! It is a warm and heartfelt story that begins with tragedy and has the result of bringing two people together for the love of a child. This is a wonderful and sweet quick story that pulls on your heartstrings. Her characters are people that are realistic and the plot of the story is believable. A fantastic read!
Enjoyed the story line of recovery from tragic events giving a little girl a temporary home to change to a HEA for all involved.
Shannon, owner of a B&B, is an excellent protagonist who takes in ten year old Kayla when her parents die in a house fire. Macho Shane Remington shows up as Kayla’s uncle she has never met who wants to take her from everything she knows in Maine to live in Los Angeles! Things get more interesting when Shane’s estranged father turns up to claim Kayla. Who is the best person to care for Kayla! You will enjoy Rocky Point Inn by Barbara McMahon. I received an advance copy of the book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

Barbara McMahon has take us on a journey of tragedy, grief, shattered dreams, failure, compassion but that love can bring you back and show you a life worth living!
Shannon a recluse after personal tragedy moved back to her home town to rebuild her life but when tragedy strikes her best friends she now is in charge of their daughter til family can be found.
Shane Remington learns of his sister’s death and is determined to take his sister’s daughter Kayla with him and put her in boarding school as he doesn’t know anything about children or family life.
Can these two find a way to keep Kayla in the only home, friends, school life she has ever known, for Shane to see what family really means and for Shannon and Shane to find a love that has been missing for both of them??
Barbara McMahon has a way of writing stories with such warmth, love & emotion that they draw the reader completely into the story. In Rocky Point Inn, Shannon has hidden herself away & is living a relatively solitary life out of guilt from an incident that happened in her youth. She feels that’s all that she deserves. So when her closest friend & her husband are killed unexpectedly, leaving behind a teenage daughter, Shannon agreed to take care of her temporarily until a family member is found to take over. After all, Kayla deserves better than her.
Shane Remington is high powered bachelor with no entanglements. When he learns his sister & husband have died, he’s determined to take Kayla to a boarding school as soon as possible & resume his busy life. He didn’t count on Shannon hitting his emotions & making him second guess his plans. When his father showed up planning on taking Kayla, he knew his plans had to change. He wasn’t going to let his sister & Jayla down by allowing that to happen.
Rocky Point Inn is a sweet romance that reminds us all to live each day as if it’s your last. Make everything count. Shannon & Shane both battle feelings of guilt for things they had no control over. Life happens. It’s what you do with that second chance that matters. Even though this is book five of the series, it can be read as a stand alone. Each story is self contained & the characters are the same & appear in each other’s stories.
Rocky Point Inn by Barbara McMahon. This is Shane Remington and Shannon Kerrigan’s story.
Rocky Point Inn is a beautifully written story of tragedy, healing, and happiness. I loved all the characters. This story was entertaining from the start to the end.
An emotional and heartwarming romance where happiness came out of a tragedy.

ROCKY POINT. INN by Barbara McMahon.
A house fire, leaving the daughter of her best friend, to take care of till they located her uncle. Four months later, getting the message he comes to meet her, and take her back to LA, where his business is at. Heated discussions between them, when he was going to put her in boarding school. Or for Shannon to find a family to take her in. Shannon, felt like she was always letting people in the town down, and couldn’t keep her..A good plot, you feel the struggle, wanting what was best for Kayla. Both,Shannon and Shane hadn’t had the best nourishment of family growing up. Now can they find a solution, makes this a.very good story to read. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
Shannon is willing to care for her best friend’s daughter until family can be found for her but does not believe she is capable of loving her enough to be her permanent guardian. Shane is a confirmed bachelor, has no desire for a family, and cannot understand why the enthralling Shannon will not take his niece. Outside pressures influence Shane into a daring plan, one he may not even be ready for. Shannon is super strong, but let her past overshadow her kindness and worth. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This story has a little of everything. We get tragedy that leaves Kayla, a sweet child orphaned. A virile dark main character in Shane, who is the child’s uncle, and who feels at loss as to what to do with Kayla. And then there is Shannon. She’s Kayla’s mom best friend. She loves Kayla and has been her guardian since her parents death. That is , until Kayla’s uncle, Shane, shows up.Despite her injuries, Shanon is a successful inn owner. She makes it her mission to help Shane and Kayla develop a relationship and in doing so, she starts having feelings for Shane.
It’s a story that at times is heartbreaking, but also filled with hope , and love.
Another well written story by this talented author. One filled with an engaging plot and complex characters.
I voluntarily read this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Rocky Point Inn is the newest offering in the Rocky Point series by Barbara McMahon. Shannon Kerrigan is the unlikely heroine of this story, Injured in an automobile accident when she was nineteen, Shannon has convinced herself that her solitary life as the owner/manager is the Rocky Point Inn in Rocky Point, Maine is all that life has to offer. A former shoe-in for a Gold medal in the Olympics in figure skating, she lives in a sea of guilt for the damage she has done to others. She is forced to come to grips with herself when her best friend, Caitlin, and her husband are killed in an overnight house fire and Shannon assumes responsibility for their young daughter, Kayla. Four months later, the sheriff lets her know that the girl’s uncle, Shane Remington, has been located and is on his way to claim Kayla.
A very enjoyable read with a few twists and turn that came up unexpectedly, Rocky Point Inn is the perfect romance. All the angst of new love is present and well as all the joy of a new family being formed. McMahon has done a masterful job of pacing, keeping the story moving but not in a rush, as so many romances seem to be. The plot is good with unexpected surprises along the way. The over all book is heart-warming and fun to read.
This book brims with unrequited love, romantic love, and love for your child. I highly recommend it as a go-to feel-good book to enjoy.
I received a free ARC of Rocky Point Inn in exchange for a fair and honest review.
