This debut novel was quite good! A good lot with believable characters made for a very enjoyable read. Rhonda Starnes is one author I will watch.
I love suspense and this is just the read I needed for today. Grace had no idea she would be wanted and chased when she came home to help at the family vet clinic. But that’s just what happened. Who is aster here? Read this fabulous book to find out. I love the interesting characters and I had a hard time trying to figure out who the killer was. The author did a wonderful job keeping me interested and turning the pages in this fast pace nail biting thriller. If this is your kind of thing for reading, I highly suggest you check out Rocky Mountain Revenge by Rhonda Starnes. This one gets Five Stars from me.
A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255
My oh my is this an intriguing story. I was swept away into an adventure from the beginning. It was fun to read about a small town where everyone watches out for each other. I did like Grace but at times she seemed a bit gullible. When her sister and her are in danger you could feel the tension rise. Coming back to where she grew up might have been a big mistake for Grace.
Someone is determined to kill Grace and her sister and I began to try to figure out who was behind the plan. Evan and Grace have a history but right now all the chief of police wants to do is focus on keeping Grace safe. I loved getting a behind the scenes look at horse racing. How sad it is that people will do evil things to make sure a horse wins. The mystery takes a scary turn when Grace comes up missing. I did think it was weird that Grace would fall for a trick to get her into a car with a suspect. I had a hard time believing she was easily persuaded to go with this person.
The story is good, but there are a few places where I think the author could have made the story more believable. Grace let’s her guard down too much and puts herself in harms way even though Evan has warned her to never be alone. The romance between them was good but I knew what the outcome would be. I liked the story but wanted a bit more suspense and less predictable outcome.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
Amazing Grace – you are next!
Those words would bring a chill to your whole being if you found yourself in a compromising situation. Who and why would anyone want to hurt Grace or her sister Chloe? Enter the small town of Blackberry Falls where everyone knows everything about you, even if you don’t live there anymore. Someone must know what’s going on…
Lots of danger and excitement in this suspense that will keep you guessing, trying to figure out who started this rash of attacks. Assaults, drugs, break-ins and kidnapping are just a few of the disturbances the police department is trying to solve. And somehow Grace seems to find herself in the middle of most of them. Will she survive long enough to find out who wants her dead?
An ARC was received through Love Inspired Suspense, Harlequin and CelebrateLit. The comments and impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.
The way in which Rhonda Starnes weaves her plot in Rocky Mountain Revenge makes it hard to believe this is her debut novel.
Grace and Evan have gone their separate ways but when danger brings them back together, Evan is determined to protect the woman he once loved. With plenty of suspects, a lovable Great Dane, and nefarious deeds happening in this small Colorado town, this book was hard to put down.
Starnes also introduces a few characters I’d like to get to see get the lead roles in future books. All in all, a great debut that exceeded my expectations and left me excited about reading more stories from this author.
Disclosure statement: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
This was the author’s first Love Inspired Suspense, and it does not disappoint. The story is filled with adventure plus there is an element of anxiety around every corner. You will adore the characters especially young Camden and Barkley, the Great Dane. I always enjoy a story filled with inspiration and hope. I one hundred percent recommend.
I really enjoyed Rocky Mountain Revenge by Rhonda Starnes.
Grace comes home to help her sister at her family’s vet clinic and someone is out for revenge and has already attacked her sister and is out to get her, but the local Police Chief Evan is also her ex-boyfriend and he will do anything to keep Grace safe while trying to find out who wants her dead.
I’m looking forward to reading more wonderful books by this author in the future. If you love inspirational romantic suspense then you definitely want to add this book to your TBR list.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
If you want to read full of action, intrigue, danger, and faith, check out this book. Grace Porter, a veterinarian, comes back to her hometown to support her sister and encounters danger. Evan, the police chief, and Grace’s former romantic interest attempt to keep Grace and her sister safe.
This story brings to life the relationships and more that result from small-town life. The characters come to life through the pages of this book. Evan’s son adds to the story as does Chloe’s dog.
I had to keep reading to find out how the story would turn out. So check out this book for yourself.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Veterinarian Grace Porter is coming home to help her younger sister Chloe, as she gets her life on a different path after the finalization of her divorce. Little does Grace know that the first night she is back she steps into the middle of a brutal attack on her sister. And she is also in the enemy’s crosshairs.
Grace pretty much needs around the clock protection and her ex-boyfriend, Evan, is also the police chief. Convenient? He knows a little something about living through a very traumatic experience and he is bound and determined that Grace and her sister will be protected. He also has a soft spot for her even though it has been more than a decade since she broke his heart.
But who is targeting Grace and her sister and why? Well, we as the reader get to go on this very suspenseful investigation that had a quite a few surprises thrown in. There are the usual suspects, but some are not. There is certainly a lot of hair raising twists and turns in this fast and thrilling read which kept me up past my bedtime. Throw in a little boy and animals, and the stakes are even higher. And to give us something to look forward to- Grace and Evan may just be falling in love again.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
Rocky Mountain Revenge by Rhonda Starnes is a stand-alone Love Inspired Suspense novel. Grace Porter comes home to temporarily help in the family vet clinic. But someone doesn’t want her around. With her and her sisters’ lives in danger, Police Chief Evan Bradshaw will have to work extra hard to keep them both safe. For her debut novel Ms. Starnes nailed the suspense! The characters really meshed well together. The story-line kept you interested and on the edge of your seat. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
I received this book from Celebrate-Lit for my honest review.
Rocky Mountain Revenge, by Rhonda Starnes, is a great story filled with action, suspense, mystery and romance. This is a very well written story, with strong likeable characters, that is easy to follow and imagine what is happening.
Grace is one her way “home” to help her sister keep their father’s veterinary clinic going. Her sister is divorcing and the ex will no longer be working for them. Her sister does not like entering her home alone and with video chatting with Grace, she feels comfortable. But this time, someone is waiting for her and Grace sees it all. Someone is out to get the sisters, but who and why?
I really enjoyed reading this story. The theme of having faith and helping others is strong in this story. This is a nice story of second chances. The story is full of action and suspense with just a touch of romance.
I received a complimentary copy of the book and that a positive review is not required.
Rocky Mountain Revenge
Rocky Mountain Revenge had me hooked from the beginning. I loved that Grace was a vet. Her sister dog that was a Great Dane added so much to the story. My favorite character was Evan who was determined to protect Grace. Will he be able to be her safe from the killer? I loved the suspense and mystery of who did it. This is my first book by the author. I enjoyed it and plan to read more of her books.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. This book review is my own opinion.
Considering that I read this at Christmastime, the first thing that comes to mind is the song “My Favorite Things.” Rural small-town life, dogs, horses, suspense: yes, “these are a few of my favorite things”! I love that this book combines all of these elements to tell a story about how the past shapes the present and how, through God’s love and His purpose for our lives, He can redeem our past and bring to fruition the promise to “work all things together for the good of those who love Him.” In a world that so often seems incomprehensible, what a blessed assurance to realize this fact!
Rhonda Starnes makes her debut as a novelist with “Rocky Mountain Revenge,” which is part of the Love Inspired Suspense series. The first chapter is one of the most spine-chilling that I have read in this series, yet without resorting to the macabre, which is one of the many reasons that I enjoy and respect inspirational fiction of this caliber. Because this particular story also involves animals, especially dogs and horses, I also greatly appreciate that no animals meet their demise during the present, unfolding action of the narrative, although for those who may be sensitive, there is an allusion to the prior death of an animal. However, Starnes does a fantastic job of conveying necessary plot points while refraining from any graphic detail. For those like me who can’t stand for harm to come to an animal, this is essential.
To a certain extent, the books in this and similar series are formulaic, giving readers a mostly apparent idea of which characters will become a couple, how the major parts of the plot will likely play out, and at least part of the motive. This is where the author’s writing skill takes effect, and for an initiate especially, Starnes develops her story enough to add in twists that propel the plot forward. More than once, I admit that I thought the mystery was about to be solved and wondered what the rest of the book would be about! Despite guessing some of the plotline, I did not figure out all of the connections, nor did I ever become at all disinterested while reading. The faith aspect is more about showing than telling, as one of the characters slowly comes back to the Lord after a tragedy, and the theme of redemption and of the Lord making all things new finds fulfillment in more ways than one. There is a saying that “You can’t go home again.” However, that does not hold true when it comes to our place of belonging in the arms of the Savior, Who always stands ready to welcome us home to Him, and that is one homecoming that we don’t want to miss!

What I think you should know:
Rocky Mountain Revenge is an Inspirational Romantic Suspense by Rhonda Starnes. It is a standalone in the Love Inspired Inspirational Romance group.
What you might need to know:
Evan lost his wife when she was murdered, prior to her tragic murder she suffered from Miscarriage and Postpartum Depression.
What I think about this book:
This was such a fast paced suspenseful story. It started with a shock and didn’t slow down until the end. Grace grew up in a small town, but instead of the close family feeling she always felt like she was being judged. After finally finding a home Evan couldn’t imagine ever leaving it. Starnes did a good job of developing the character’s backstory while still maintaining the fast pace of the story. With attempted murder and illegal horse racing in a small town where everyone knows each other this story has everything it needs to keep you turning the page to find out if the bad guys can be caught before they catch up with Grace.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Rocky Mountain Revenge is a wonderful debut for author by Rhonda Starnes. I thought it was a pretty good read. I loved Grace and Evan and enjoyed the undeniable chemistry between the two. The story is full of suspense, adventure, action and mystery. I thought the plot was somewhat predictable but I still thought it was so good to read. I was entertained from the page one all the way to the end. It was a fun and delightful book to read.
I am giving Rocky Mountain Revenge four stars. I recommend this one for readers who enjoy reading quick romantic suspense. I would be interested in reading more books by Rhonda Starnes in the future. I do not think this one should be missed and definitely worth a read.
I received Rocky Mountain Revenge from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Rhonda Starnes’ first romantic suspense is a hit.
This book has a storyline filled with suspense that immediately drew me into the almost non-stop action. Grace Porter, one of the main characters in the book, is a woman of courage and determination, with a strong love of family. Someone is trying to kill both Grace and her sister, Chloe, and it’s a race against time to try to find out who is threatening them and why they are being targeted. I also liked the character of Evan, who is the police chief of Blackberry Falls. As the romance between Evan and Grace is renewed, they need to put their personal feelings aside to make sure the killer is captured. This book’s filled with suspenseful twists and turns that kept me wanting to see what would happen next. This is another good book from Love Inspired Fiction.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

They are in danger from the known and unknown…
Wow! What a Love Inspired Suspense debut! I am seriously hooked! Rhonda Starnes has a real winner with Rocky Mountain Revenge! Her blend of spine-tingling suspense and sparks-flying romance was spot on. She keeps you guessing and your heart pounding from start to finish.
I will make a confession, though, as much as I enjoyed the romantic suspense my two favorite things about the story involved neither. Those two things being the heroine’s unusual for the genre occupation of veterinarian, and, my favorite character, a fella named Barkley.
I really had a hard time putting down Rocky Mountain Revenge, author Rhonda Starnes totally had me glued to the page. I had one of those rare days with few interruptions to my reading and I took full advantage. If you love the Love Inspired Suspense line you really should check out this exciting debut novel. It’s a good one!

A great debut novel! I loved that this story is set in a small town, my favorite type of setting! Grace and Evan have known each other since they were kids, I love it when the hero and heroine have shared history and that was a great aspect of this story. Rocky Mountain Revenge features a friends-to-more love story, which is one of my favorite tropes and I felt it was perfect for this story!
I loved that the heroine was a veterinarian, that was awesome!
The suspense was very good, and definitely keeps you on your toes.
Overall, Rocky Mountain Revenge is a great read, check it out!
