A Rocky Mountain logging camp may be just the place to start her new life.
Widowed at nineteen, Madeline Lamb seeks to find a new husband amongst the crew of the Rocky Mountain log drive. With a baby growing inside her, she has no choice. She signs on as cook’s helper, and it soon becomes apparent her options for a mate are limited. Madeline’s grieving heart wavers between the security an older … between the security an older man offers and the tender feelings a new crew member stirs.
Will Matheson earned the chance to work the high-paying spring log drive. The boon ensures he can recoup the logging wages stolen by a pretty face with some fast fingers. Frustration builds when the boss pulls him from the river and assigns him the job of camp chore boy. If it wasn’t for the pretty cook’s helper, he’d take the first train home.
When the dangers of the river journey prove more treacherous than anyone expects, the budding attraction between Will and Madeline is put to the test. If they survive the adventure, life as they know it will never be the same.

The book is set in 1898. The setting is a logging camp and the river. I loved the characters. They leapt off the pages into my heart, then pulled me through the exciting story. You won’t want to miss this one.
This was a great second book in this series. It was a wonderful story that was well written and edited. I am looking forward to another one.
Liked the info about early logging
A romantic story, but filled with lots of action and intrigue. The plot line got a tad far- fetched toward the end, but otherwise a very good read!
Subterfuge, sabotage, and suspicion are all a part the Pollit Lumber Company’s log drive in the Rocky Mountains. These elements all create a sense of tension and mystery to keep you wondering what will happen along the way.
Madelyn Lamb, the assistant trail cook and boss’s daughter was desperate to get married. The saying, “Marry in haste, repent at leisure”, almost became the saying for her life. It was good that she had a caring and wise father to watch over her.
I didn’t know anything about the logging industry and found it to be interesting and well as informative. Lisa Flickinger’s descriptions of the events and people make you feel like you are a part of the drive. I enjoyed this western tale and even though it is the second book in the series, it can be a stand alone read.
Thank you to the author/ publisher for giving me a copy of this book. I was not required to write a review. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Set in the Rocky Mountains, Book 2 in Lisa J. Flickinger’s Rocky Mountain Revival series features life in a logging camp. Both of the young protagonists have already tasted more of hardship and tragedy than many of us ever will. Each of them was quite mature for their age but most people grew up quickly in those days.
The plot of Rocky Mountain Revelation moves at a steady pace with frequent action and danger. A sinister undercurrent threatens the camp but those in charge find it difficult to pinpoint who is behind the plots of the wicked. Will and Madeline must learn to trust the Lord rather than their own strength and plans.
I enjoyed this book and was happy to see that more than one evil plan was foiled however I am pretty sure readers have not seen the end of the troublemakers. I would not be at all surprised to see them turn up in the final book of the series where I hope they will either repent or be dealt with justly.

A historical romance, set against the rush and drama of a log drive.
Madeline is a young widow, pregnant, and bent on finding a husband, so she takes a job working on her father’s log run as cook’s assistant. Will is thrilled to have the chance to prove himself and make his way working the log drive, so he is less than excited when he is assigned to be the camp chore boy.
A quick read, it was at times frustrating to see the characters walking right into what I knew they shouldn’t do, so it made it hard to want to keep going because of that. I liked that they talked about faith, and wanting to live their beliefs. I think that one of my favorite characters was Shorty, the cook, and Madeline’s uncle, who is a well-meaning, set-in-his-ways old man, who is looking out for Madeline.
Madeline and Will are both young, at times impulsive, but I really enjoyed how the ending was done and thought that it made for a great way to end things with a bang.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Having read the first book in the Rocky Mountain Revival Series, I eagerly anticipated reading the second book in this historical fiction series. I have to say it did not disappoint. I found the characters interesting and the storyline intriguing. This book shows how appearances can deceive.
Hurting from the death of her husband, Madeline Lamb convinces her father to allow her to come on his log drive. Will Boon wishes to make money on this drive to recover wages stolen from him by a woman. From the beginning, sparks fly between the two. While a man named Perley sets out to cause mischief and mayhem along with attempting to relieve his coworkers of their expected wages.
I love how the characters and storyline combine to create a book I could not put down. Some characters from the first book also appear in this one. So check it out for yourself.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Author LIsa J. Flickinger has created some fascinating characters for this novel that is set in a Rocky Mountain logging camp in 1898 and, as I read Rocky Mountain Revelation, I was reminded of some of the western tv shows that I used to watch. The uncertainty and hardships of life in very rugged terrain. The camp cook who is gruff on the outside and soft on the inside. Some young men who are willing to earn their pay and a few who are up to no good! And then there is the young beautiful heroine who is both sweet and vulnerable. Will Madeline find someone who will truly treasure her and her unborn baby?
This is the second book in the Rocky Mountain Revival series and I enjoyed the reference to the previous book’s “Preach” and Isabelle, but Rocky Mountain Revelation can be read as a standalone. It has deceit and trickery but faith is a strong element and Flickinger has given readers an inspirational story to savor. I recommend it to all who enjoy Christian historical romance.
I received a copy of this book via Celebrate Lit. A favorable review was never required and no monetary compensation was given. These are my own thoughts.
Rocky Mountain Revelation is the second installment from Lisa J Flickinger’s Rocky Mountain Revival series. I loved the first book, Rocky Mountain Redemption, and I was not disappointed with this one. Even though they are part of a series, I believe they can be read as a stand alone. I loved getting to know Madeline and Will. It was a delight to meet them and loved the sweetness of their story. It is not a long read and it took me no time to have the whole book read in one sitting. So very good.
Rocky Mountain Revelation is getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I am looking forward to reading the third book in the Rocky Mountain Restoration series, Rocky Mountain Restoration. I highly recommend this one for readers who enjoy clean Historical Romance.
I received Rocky Mountain Revelation from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
This author never ceases to amaze me. She creates such realistic characters. I can identify a lot of them to real people I know. The way she writes you don’t have to try to figure out what she means. There’s clarity in her writing. There’s excitement but it’s not hard to read. Everything flows smoothly. The only draw back I find in her books is I’d like them to be longer. I don’t want them to end.
Logging camps played a large part in the opening of the frontier in 1898. The Rocky Mountains met all the conditions needed to bring those trees to where they were needed. While the loggers had the job of cutting the trees down, there was another crew that took care of getting those logs to their destination. Both of these jobs held great danger requiring them to stay alert at all times. Unfortunately accidents happened and some were killed.
For Madeline this was personal – her husband Oliver had been killed while blowing a log jam. Newly widowed and pregnant, she pressures her father Gabe, the boss, to allow her to join the log drive in hopes of finding a suitable husband – one that will love her and the tiny life inside her. While dangers abound, her job is to help Shorty keep the men fed, one that should not expose her to the perils experienced by the crew. With more than one of the men vying for her attention, will they resort to nefarious means to gain her hand? Can anyone possibly meet all the requirements on her list?
Plenty of danger, broken bones and almost drownings will keep you involved in this story right up till the end. This ARC was received through WildHeart Books and CelebrateLit. The impressions and comments are my own and were in no way solicited.
The author transports readers back to the late 1890s. Working on a logging crew was hard and dangerous work. I could picture the logs floating by on the water as a crew removed them from their place of security. I thought about how many hours they worked long and the weather conditions they endured. I loved how detailed the author was about the logging business . It was easy to visualize the environment the workers were in and how they always needed to be aware of what was going on around them.
I did like Madeline but I was a little upset about her desperation to find a husband. Working in the logging camp was not easy and there were several times I wondered if she made the wrong choice to work there. I’m glad that Madeline was surrounded by her father and Uncle Shorty who looked out for her. I forgot that in this time period people married quite young. What I did like about Madeline was her faith.
Will is just a little younger than Madeline and finds work with the logging crew. It didn’t take long for someone to be jealous of him being around. Although the attraction between Madeline and Will is evident, someone is trying to get Will out of the picture. In close quarters like they were it must have been hard to have any alone time.
I’m not surprised at the mystery that was in the story or the people behind it. What I was surprised at was at the length someone would go for money. This person seems nice but on the inside hides an evil person who only wanted to win Madeline for personal gain. The author does give us a character that exhibited the traits of a person who thinks only of themselves. Once again we see that pride, jealousy and selfishness leads to a fall from grace.
I would recommend reading the first in the series because it does give background on Will. I hope there will be another book in the series so we can find out if Madeline and Will live happily ever after.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
This historical fiction novel takes you to the wilderness of a log drive with ease as the author does a great job describing the setting of the story. It took me a few chapters to get into the story, but it was an enjoyable read once I was deeper into the novel. There is development of suspense in the book that made it harder to put down as I got further into the story. I liked the characters in this story better than the first in the series, although Madeline did frustrate me quite a few times. The novel can stand-alone but you do get more background on the characters if you read the series in order. Overall, this is a good book and I look forward to reading more about the characters in the next installment!
I received a complimentary ecopy of this book from Celebrate Lit Tours. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Romance on a log drive
While I have read more than a handful of stories about logging camps, Rocky Mountain Revelation is the first one I’ve read that tells about a log drive. I was fascinated by the many details about how a log drive works, including the information about how the cook and his staff traveled. While the entire story was very good, I do think that was my favorite part!
If you haven’t read Rocky Mountain Redemption yet, you’ll want to hurry and do that first – the cause for Will’s guilt is covered there. (Plus, it is simply a great story!)
Will and Maddy were both wonderfully flawed characters making them very relatable and more lovable.
Will carried guilt over his father’s death, which had driven him, even more, to provide for his ma and siblings. I enjoyed watching Will grow in maturity. It touched me to see him reading his pa’s Bible even though he didn’t understand what he read. And that he tried to pray even though he doubted God heard his prayers. He learned quite clearly the truth of the salvation we are offered through the blood of Jesus. The author explained this quite well.
Maddy was fun. She was so convinced that she knew better than her uncle or her father what she needed. And she felt she was far too mature for Will! Not that she was arrogant, per se. She just had too much confidence in herself. And I smiled at her “list” of what she was looking for in a husband. After all, I had a similar list.
I would describe Rocky Mountain Revelation as an adventure with a hint of mystery and more than a hint of romance. The sense of something not being quite right was the first hint of the unknown danger lurking around the group. I was thrown off guard and ended up on the wrong trail about what that was for a bit and though I knew who the troublemakers were, I had no idea what they were up to until it was revealed!

I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
I loved the first book in this series. Such a fun book. This one does not disappoint either. It’s fun and fast paced. The characters pop out of the book to live with you as you envision yourself there. It’s so real and so wonderfully written.
Will is such a hardened figure. He thinks he’s taking a demotion to be the camp chore boy but instead he’s getting to know Madeline who needs a new husband and fast. She’s cute and young. He’s interested. But will things go as you can predict from that sentence?
Definitely read the book to find out. You’re going to love it!

Even though Rocky Mountain Revelation is book two in the Rocky Mountain Revival series, it can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone novel. I quickly found myself turning pages in this story to find out how things would work out for the main characters.
I felt sad for Madeline, as she obviously loved her husband and was having to adjust to life without him. At the same time, I was frustrated that Madeline allowed herself to be so easily mislead, while also being resistant to those who had her best interests at heart. It was hard to see her being gullible.
I liked the chemistry that began to develop between Will and Madeline. There were quite a few scenes with the two of them together, however, as the book neared the ending I felt rushed to accept these two together and would have enjoyed more scenes with the two of them, when Madeline wasn’t so focused on pushing him away.
But, overall, this was an enjoyable story and made me feel like I was right there on the log drive with the characters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
The second book in the Rocky Mountain Revival series can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the first one, Rocky Mountain Redemption, because you’re sure to enjoy it.
Author Lisa Flickinger does a good job of placing her readers in the dangerous Rocky Mountains. We get a descriptive taste of life in a logging camp that made me glad I wasn’t trying to live in one. So many things can and do happen that I was turning pages quickly to find out what was next.
Both Will and Madeline are well developed characters, who show strength and courage, as well as human foibles. But watching them learn to let God move gave even more depth to this story.
If you’re looking for Christian historical fiction, with a sweet, clean romance, then I recommend reading Rocky Mountain Revelation.
I received a complimentary copy of the book but was not required to leave a review.
It took a few chapters to get into the story but then I couldn’t put it down. There is suspense throughout. I felt for Madeline as she wants a new husband but is torn between an older man & a young one. Will wants to protect her & comes to love her. He can’t figure how to convince her that the older guy is not right for her until the very end when he gets the proof. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.
This book has romance, intrigue, and drama all set in 1800’s logging industry and a spring log drive. The author makes the reader wonder who is behind the twists and turns. Jealousy rears its ugly head and emotions can run high. I enjoyed this historical fiction book and kept cheering for a happy ending for Will and Madeleine.
