It’s the quiet ones who take you by surprise.A STAND ALONE story in the bestselling SIX PACK RANCH series by New York Times Bestselling Author Vivian ArendBeth Danube’s emotionally abusive husband is dead and buried. So is her heart. It’s no big deal, she has all she wants: her three little boys and a fresh start in a small Alberta town. After ten years of unsatisfactory, missionary-position sex, … unsatisfactory, missionary-position sex, she certainly never expected her libido to reawaken. Then one look at sex-in-boots Daniel Coleman blows the dust off her sexuality.
Sensing an edge of desperation, even fear, beneath Beth’s come-on, Daniel finds himself giving in to the powerful urge to let his normally restrained desires run wild. The lady wants non-judgmental, non-vanilla sex? She’s got it—in and out of the bedroom.
At first, friends with blazing-hot benefits is more than enough. Then Beth realizes Daniel is burning away the protective fortress around her heart…and the guilty secret she dare not reveal.
Contains: One woman determined to retake control of her life and a man with the single-minded purpose of offering her everything she needs to get there. Inappropriate behaviour in barns, change rooms, and oh-my-gawd phone sex with a cowboy.

Found the characters boring.
Vivian Arends never disappoints me when I read one of her books. The whole series keeps you entertained and I have a hard time stopping until I have finished each book.
Good read
I needed more story to be able to give this more stars. There were bits and pieces of the other couples stories but it just was not enough for me.
Daniel is a deep, sensitive man. This is a man that woman wish they could find. Beth is dealing with very real worries and insecurities. A story that keeps your attention and you don’t want to put the book down. Loved it, can’t wait to read about the rest of the boys.
loved it great story
One of my favorite authors…just loved this series!
The story is worth it. If you don’t like descriptive sex, you won’t like the book. Chapter 1 has the first ‘almost sex on meeting’ … and the entire sub-topic is all about having ‘non-vanilla’ sex.
The story is great. How does a woman recover from an abusive, controlling, his needs only dead ex?
It was a very interesting book that contained different areas of romance than most novels I have read .
Very enjoyable book. I recommend it. The only thing is I’m particular about grammar and I didn’t like his use of the word ain’t. I was surprised that she didn’t say anything to him about it since she was a teacher.
Great love story but very explicit sex and unneccessary use of F-word! Not everyone talks like that. Beth put up with a horrible husband and it took her meeting Daniel to find out not all men are abusive jerks. Daniel is one of those “one in a million”!!! If you like very explicit sex scenes you’ll like this book. A pretty good standalone love story with a HEA!!!
This was an amazing book.
Beth was the perfect heroine in my opinion. She was strong and caring with just a touch of loneliness. She did everything for her young sons and suffered in silence. She decides that she might want to put herself out there a little just to feel like a woman again and Daniel looks like the perfect thing.
I loved Daniel. He was OK being Mr fun times for Beth in the beginning but it didn’t take long for him to want more. This woman affected him in ways he didn’t understand. After his last relationship went down in a fire he didn’t think he’d want another. However spending time with Beth and the boys changed his tune.
I can’t get enough of this family. I love their dynamic. How open they are to new people and treat them like family. I look forward to reading more in this series.
I have had this book on my Kindle for a long time, I don’t know why I waited so long to read it. This story is well written and I encourage everyone to get this book. This one is worth your time and effort. Vivian Arend is on my list of authors to read that is for sure. I loved the characters they have some problems but those they over come and have their HEA ending.
This is part of a series all though shorter than the rest. I liked this the most…
I like the different stories lines – no one quite the same which made them such a good read and caused me to look out for the rest of the series.
Such a great read. The characters were so well written. The author wrote Daniel and Beth story with compassion and love. Looking forward to reading the next book in the Six Pack series.
Loved the whole 6 pack series!
Cannot believe this is the same series as book 1. Far superior.
Such a complete change of direction from book one.
What Beth had suffered was horrendous but I admired her bravery. She is correct about stating she should have left her abusive husband earlier but easier said than done with young children.
Daniel was a sweetie and such a strong rock that Beth and the boys can lean on into the future.
Loved how the Colemans all rallied around to support Beth and the boys and teach them the true meaning of family. The little scene at the river was lovely.
Great book, great series!
I just loved this book. I was almost hesitant to read this as the first book was so fantastic. But this was just as good. I love how Ms. Arend includes stories of the other members to make a cohesive flow to the family for the series. I wished I lived in Rocky Mountain House!!!!!! Highly recommend!!!!
Liked as a easy read between other things such as waiting rooms, while watching TV, etc
