It’s the quiet ones who take you by surprise.A STAND ALONE story in the bestselling SIX PACK RANCH series by New York Times Bestselling Author Vivian ArendBeth Danube’s emotionally abusive husband is dead and buried. So is her heart. It’s no big deal, she has all she wants: her three little boys and a fresh start in a small Alberta town. After ten years of unsatisfactory, missionary-position sex, … unsatisfactory, missionary-position sex, she certainly never expected her libido to reawaken. Then one look at sex-in-boots Daniel Coleman blows the dust off her sexuality.
Sensing an edge of desperation, even fear, beneath Beth’s come-on, Daniel finds himself giving in to the powerful urge to let his normally restrained desires run wild. The lady wants non-judgmental, non-vanilla sex? She’s got it—in and out of the bedroom.
At first, friends with blazing-hot benefits is more than enough. Then Beth realizes Daniel is burning away the protective fortress around her heart…and the guilty secret she dare not reveal.
Contains: One woman determined to retake control of her life and a man with the single-minded purpose of offering her everything she needs to get there. Inappropriate behaviour in barns, change rooms, and oh-my-gawd phone sex with a cowboy.

Steamy doesn’t quite cover this word porn I needed a couple of cold showers! Good story also.
Would read it again.
I’ve apparently read a lot of the Coleman books. But I honestly don’t recall them til I’m reminded they exist. The sex scenes are good and the romances are nice but there’s just something artificial about them. Like a bunch of Hollywood and Lifetime movie people got together and created a family and town. Abuse isn’t like we see in movies. And even though her husband is dead there would still be scars. The broken plate tried to show that but it too lacked depth.
Rocky Mountain Haven—Vivian Arend – Beth and her three young sons find refuge on the Coleman ranch, and snag the attention of Daniel. When they realize that they have a lot more in common than they thought, will it be enough to give them the courage to confront their pasts and grab new futures? Happy Reading!
The story is a bunch of starts and while it all wraps into a happy ending. As a reader it’s frustrating how many time lapses there are.
Good read. A little steamy, a little teary. Happy ending.
Oh gracious, this one made me feel a plethora of emotions. I felt sad and cried for the physical and emotional pain that Daniel and Beth as well as Beths’s boys had gone through individually in their lives. I felt happy and laughed at the antics that typically happened with little boys. I felt pleased at the acceptance the Colman clan showed Beth and the boys. I felt excited about the future for all the Colman’s. This book gave me joy. You might ask why not five stars? It’s because I felt like it was a little bit of two stories in one. Gabe had a couple of chapters that were about him and I felt like I got distracted from the main story. Don’t get me wrong I liked reading about Gabe because he’s showed up before and I want his own book soon. I’ve already read a couple of the books out of order. I love this series. Until next time y’all happy reading.
I didn’t now what to expect with this one , but I was pleasantly surprised by this book!! I loved Beth as a character and her story was well handled in the book. Daniel is a good match for her.
Definitely a feel good book
Looking forward to reading more books by Vivian Arend.
Beth is a widow with 3 sons who have moved to a small town to start over. Her husband was abusive to both her and her sons and she is trying to get back to the woman she used to be. Enter Daniel, a man looking to settle down but willing to help Beth find herself in the meantime. This is so well written and emotional. The author includes the sons and how they had to deal with their emotions. I will continue with this series as Daniel has a big family of ranchers.
What a wonderful ending to such a tragic beginning. Wonderful story of second chances and love found unexpectedly.
As I say with many books, if the author would be a little more creative in their word choice and leave out GXX DXnm I would have given 5 stars. Great story, many characters that are easy to keep track of and that you want to know more about.
5 star
There is probably nothing unusual about this book …. except it’s characters are unique, the plot is realistic, and the challenges of the main characters as close to real life (most of the time), the life situation bordered on reality quite nicely, and the plot so many people could relate to … i enjoyed it immensely. it’s a very good read.
This was a good read. I actually found it in my library and reread it. I enjoyed the story and appreciated the author writing the hero as respectful, yet a strong male character. A good, easy read.
Story was good but very steamy sex!
I really felt sorry for Beth and respect her struggle to move on. I like Daniel too, he’s wise, 100% alpha but without the aggressiveness. Their non-vanilla ‘experiments” are not for the fainthearted, I actually had to just skip over those few pages. I didn’t give up on them though because they both were ready and in need of another chance to be in love in spite of their baggage.
This book touches on emotional abuse of a wife and 3 boys. Of course, they are healed by a wonderful, loving cowboy.
This was really good, I would probably look into more of the series!
