A STAND ALONE story in the bestselling SIX PACK RANCH series by New York Times Bestselling Author Vivian Arend————-Sometimes even Angels must learn to fly… discovered Mom is keeping a terrible secret from the family.
Gabe Coleman is struggling with two of the roughest parts of ranching: dealing with his bull-headed mule of a father, and making enough to pay the bills. When an old friend from high school offers to help him develop his ideas for organic ranching—in trade for pretending to be her fiancé—it sounds like the perfect set-up.
Yet the deception leads them in an unexpected direction, where their shared daily hells are erased by nights of heavenly distraction. It’s not supposed to be real, but once the gates are opened, there’s no denying they’ve found a little bit of paradise.
To break free of the past and face the future, though, will take more than temporary pleasures. It’ll take putting their hearts on the line.
Warning: Tortured hero with a guardian-angel complex, grief-stricken heroine willing to sacrifice everything for family. Break out the tissues, this trip to the ranch is a heartbreaker on the way to the HEA.

Cute story. Long grinds coming together to pull a ruse over on her mom. While her mom pretends everything is fine. Allison knows she is sick and needs an excuse to come home. Gabe needs help transitioning over to organic on the farm and Allison is the go-to. They had such an easy relationship. Their friendship and attraction laid a solid foundation for growth. Loved gave. He is a hot Canadian cowboy that always helps others, is loyal and loving. Him saving the cat, just wow. Wish we got mornings about Cassidy and what happened if Travis said it wasn’t at the fight club but I’m sure it will come. Loved Gabe and Allison together. His father just needs to leave.
Such a romantic story. Both characters are loving, giving, and sweet. They are perfect together. I loved the way the stood by each other. Wonderful story!
You can’t help fall in love with the characters of Gabe and Allison. the story can hold your interest from beginning to end as you wait to see if this couple can really be a couple.
An okay book… not my favorite but probably cause I hate unneccessary use of the F_ word and you can read just so much very explicit sex. Gabe was a wonderful guy and dealing with a HORRIBLE father. Can’t believe any father could be so disgusting to his son. Admired Gabe so much for putting up with such a horrible person. Allison was interesting and ended up being okay but started off with some pretty weird ideas but Gabe is a saint!! A standalone with an HEA so everything was okay!!!
wonderful to see how much these two love each other and how their love grows the more time they spend together. Very sexy and entertaining. Fun read.
Had trouble finishing, but I will go back and try again. I do not like to leave a book and not go back and try again. It may have been what was happening at the time, etc.
Too overly descriptive sex scenes, not enough story.
Although a good book the extreme sexual play by plays were extremely nauseating. We all know what sex is and know how to do it but I bet I skipped 150 pages of pure sex acts.
A lovely story of strength through kindness even with heartache and pain.
Allison will do anything to ease her mother dying of cancer, even pretend to be engaged. I loved how close this family were but Allison was just a bit slow on realising she loved Gabe.
Gabe has been dealing with an unfair and unjust father and I hated his father vehemently. All Gabe wants to do is save their section of the family ranch by introducing organic means to bring in better prices.
Allison suggests a fake engagement so she can stay near her mum and in return she will help Gabe get his project up and running.
An enjoyable read that tugs at the heart a bit but these two took a long time to get their act together.
I rated it low mostly because I have outgrown the steamy sex novels. The characters were ok, somewhat predictable and nothing out of the ordinary. The storyline was very predictable and reads like a porn script. Shallow and forgettable. The only reason it got 2 stars is because for some unexplainable reason I kept reading it until the end, which came really fast because I skipped the sex scenes and it left very little to be read!
Good read
I’ve enjoyed many of the six pack ranch books. Very much enjoyed getting to know Gabe a bit better. Allison’s scheme is a bit unrealistic but fun and works in the end. The backdrop of loss of family is heart wrenching.
Great, entertaining and romantic novel. Wonderful characters, brought to life.
Great author! Great series!
Good story about family and returning to a town you’d left.
Wonderful Series!
Good read..
Good, better best . Family love conquers all
I like that it is a stand alone. So tired of cliffhangers. Having said that it as a good story of deception turning into love. Her mom is dying so she enlists him as her fiancée. He needs her expertise is making his ranch organic despite his brute of anunsupportive father. I felt the story could have been developed more and was somewhat cookie cutter with lots of sx and less story.
Wonderful love story but not for those that don’t like steamy sex scenes. These books are hot, sexy and full of a good story. Gabe is super sexy and just wants to be there for everyone, his brothers, his cousins, his friends. Allison wants an excuse to come home to be with her mom while she battles her illness and she knows Gabe will not turn her away. These two have burned for each other for years, will this relationship burn them down or is it just getting heated up? Great read, I really enjoy these stories and the way the new and old characters are weaved throughout them.
