It was lyrics at first sight when I saw Violet Rhodes across that crowded party. She was lights and darks, swirled together. Music in motion. And all of it while looking like a hitwoman at an Elvis convention. I had nothing to offer the intriguing girl but a one-night stand. I figured I’d revel in my last night of anonymity before my first tour and shoot her a quick “We’ll always have L.A.!” … L.A.!” goodbye the next morning.
But nothing went according to plan.
In one night, Violet crawled under my skin and into my bloodstream. She tattooed her name across my chest and between my legs. She became my muse. And then she was gone.
Now, months later, here she is again. And in a twist I never saw coming, it turns out Violet is ultra-violet radiation. Beautiful, ethereal light bringing with her the promise of damage and destruction.
My brain tells me to walk away from this girl, but my heart can’t stop feeling like she might be one of a kind . . . the sort of girl who comes along once in a violet moon.

Funny, sexy and touching, a wonderfully engaging story
Book 5 of the Morgan Brothers, I could tell early on this was part of a series just from the number of characters and brief references to earlier events. I read the Club trilogy back when it first came out (before book 4 and before Kat and Josh’s story). It was when I was just starting to read romance and this author got lost in the shuffle. She came to my attention again with Ball Peen Hammer, and when I heard she was putting out a rock star book (a favorite genre for me), I was eager to give this a try. I’m just sorry it took this long to actually read more from her.
While I thought this worked pretty well as a standalone, having the background from both the Club series and the earlier Morgan Brothers books would enrich your reading experience. In fact, at about halfway through, I *may* have stopped reading long enough to 1-click the first books in the series so they’d be waiting for me to read when I finished, lol.
I just plain loved Dax and Violet. I loved Dax’s honesty, that he’s about the music not the fame, and that he doesn’t take success for granted. Really, he’s the perfect rock god. Violet was great, too; I loved how she communicated clearly what she wanted, and I understood perfectly why she made the choices she did. With lots of chemistry, there were also plenty of laughs (hitwoman dancing queen cracked me right up), and some heartbreak as well, and I was cheering for them both throughout the story.
As to be expected with this kind of series, there are loads of great secondary characters—something I suspect series fans loved even more than I did. I especially loved the family support, both in the kick-Dax’s-a$$-when-he-needs-it kind of way, and in the cheerleading they did for him. As for the plot, you know what twist is coming because the author intends you to know. Except you don’t actually know the whole twist, you only think you do (brava to the author, btw). While there are some secrets, they’re handled well; the plot ISN’T driven by one main character keeping a secret from the other for the majority of the book (a personal pet peeve).
The only minor quibble I had were a few casual references to drug use, which made me cringe. It’s definitely part of the rockstar lifestyle, though, so it was appropriate to touch on, and I appreciated that Dax wasn’t really a user.
Funny, sexy and touching, this is a wonderfully engaging story that has me planning a binge read of the earlier books. 4.5 stars

Rockstar was an amazing read and one that made me want to go back and re-read the entire Morgan Brothers series again. That, for me, is one of the marks of a truly amazing book. To have this story play out and have me keep thinking about how I need to go back and re-read all the books so I can read this one again in context with everyone else’s story was so great. I love when that happens. When you get to the end of something and want to re-live all of it all over again. I love this family and all the people they bring into it!
Dax and Violet were amazing together. Dax can be a bit…well a bit of a stereotypical guy at times. The ones were they don’t really get it and don’t understand why what they do could upset the other person. He doesn’t always get it right away, but luckily he has great friends and family who tell him when he is being an idiot about something. That point him in the right direction. He is a sweetheart and his heart is in the right place, he just doesn’t always use his words.
Now Violet? Gah! She killed me! She is the sweetest person ever! My heart was so full reading her. She is so wonderful and kind and caring. The things she goes through and how she reacts to them? She is a class act. She is above and beyond. I don’t know that I have ever met anyone as truly kind and wonderful as she is. I wanted nothing but the best for her even though her situation is a bit tricky. I had gotten an early copy of this book when I was lucky enough to meet the author at a signing and I asked her if this story would make me cry. Last time I saw her on the way to the event I was reading Hero and was that lady crying on the train that everyone looked at like should we do something?? Is everything okay?? And when it is “just” a book then you get some odd looks because no everyone gets it. Lauren said it made her cry, but it is a different kind of cry than Hero and after reading this I so see what she means. This is that kind of cry that I don’t find very often, that I can only think of one other example of, the ‘it is so touching and beautiful it makes me cry’ cry. Because that is this story. So touching and beautiful and I didn’t want it to end.
Dax and Violet do not have the easiest of times because of the situation they are in. They both obviously care about the other deeply in a very short amount of time, but circumstances being what they are make being together difficult. I loved Dax and how he could be all in, but cautious, even though he at times was overly cautious. And Violet is just the best. These two were wonderful to read and I loved seeing the rest of the Morgan’s in there as well. Oh, it was a great story and now I need to go re-read them all. I want more Morgan brothers!
I hardcore LOVE the Morgan family and it’s finally time for the youngest Morgan to find his happily ever after!
Dax is something special. He’s humble, kind, and has the sweetest heart you’re ever going to find. He’s the most mellow Morgan, in my opinion, but don’t let that fool you. He’s still a Morgan and we all know how crazy that family can get. He’s funny, inspiring, and full of life. He’s addictive. He’s raw, passionate, and his lyrics will make you swoon.
Violet is intriguing; it’s one of the first things Dax notices about her. She has a darker past than he does, but by all outward appearances, she’s navigating life well. She’s has an amazing, giving heart and her spirit is alluring. She’s funny and flirty, can be adventurous and also a little reserved, and always puts others ahead of herself.
Dax and Violet are perfect for each other, but their story is never easy. Secrets and twists seem to throw a wrench in the works at every turn. Their journey is heartbreaking, inspiring, uplifting, and amazing. From the first page to The End, their story will pull you in and hold you captive. This is a must-read from Lauren Rowe.
I have really come to love this series and every book can be read as a standalone. I’m so glad we finally get Dax’s story; one I was so excited to read. Definitely one of my favorites!
Violet has been burned a lot in her past relationships and has been going through a lot of things. When she meets Dax at a party, there’s this instant connection between them and they hit it off right away. Even though they had a one-night stand, there’s just something that goes deeper. They lose track of each other but one event brings them back together. Now they will have to try and keep their new found relationship hidden, it’s easier said than done and with each passing day, it’ll become harder for them to keep it a secret. With every obstacle seeming to be in their way, both will have to make a choice. To either fight for want they truly want or to try and let go….
Lauren Rowe’s Morgan family series is wonderful, and I was excited to read Dax’s book.
Dax and Violet shared an unexpected connection from the start, but that doesn’t mean their journey was simple and easy. Their story and the obstacles they overcome were very well done. I have enjoyed Lauren Rowe’s writing in all the books of her’s I have read. Violet and Dax will take you on an emotional journey that will make you feel sad and happy as they make their way to an HEA.
Those who have read and loved the previous books in the Morgan family series will not be disappointed! If you haven’t read the other books, this is a standalone, but I recommend checking out the others in the series first!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Best series ending and book family EVER!!!! I love the passion and the beauty and the honesty and the joking and everything about the Morgan/Faraday families. Rockstar does not disappoint! Dax and Violet wow!!!! I love Violet so so much. Her honesty and protective nature is amazing. I love how she stands up for herself and puts herself out there for what is important to her.
And Dax- he’s incredible! I loved watching grow through the book. I love his loyalty and honesty even when he’s struggling. I love his relationship with his family. And I just love him and Violet!
Lauren Rowe is one of my favorite authors! I love how she tells a story and keeps it real! I love that there are songs she wrote that just make you feel! She is so talented and I feel lucky to be a reader of her words. The Morgans will be missed but there will be lots of re-reads just so I feel like I’m at home with a loving family who holds everyone accountable to be the best people they can be!!!!!
Rockstar by Lauren Rowe is the final Morgan family book. If you’ve read all the others, like me, then you will fall in love with this family all over again while reading this one.
Lauren’s story of Dax, the youngest Morgan, as he stands on the edge of fame is both moving and entertaining. All the Morgan family quirks that we all love are front and present! (Nicknames, group chats, it’s all there!)
The character development is seamless with the plot, weaving character depth and storyline together in beautiful harmony.
The story touches on some tough subjects, but again, Lauren handles it with sensitivity and compassion, and a little humor that keeps the story light while exploring difficult topics. It’s a balance that Lauren has mastered.
I can’t say enough about how much I’ve loved reading about this family. The Morgan’s are the family we all want.
Dax and Violet’s love story is a great one. So many pieces of plot and characters are woven into their romance and it makes the story even better for those that know and love all these characters. Violet, although having some tough life circumstances, is the perfect fit for Dax. I love how their relationship builds during the story.
As sad as I am that the Morgan family stories are complete, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect culmination to this family’s story.
When Dax and Violet meet, the sparks fly. He is so inspired, he writes a song about her before he even talks to her. What will happen once they meet each other? He’s destined for stardom, how will that effect them?
Wow! I love Dax & Violet!
This was an amazing read from beginning to end. My heart raced & I felt chills as I read Dax’s song lyrics. I felt so many different emotions reading this incredible story of a young man on a journey to his dreams and the sweet girl who helps him realize how true love can make them whole. This is definitely my favorite read of 2019!
Be ready to have your world literally rocked into EPIC portions by Dax Morgan!
The world that Lauren Rowe has created with Dax Morgan and 22 Goats is Cherry Popping spectacular!
This book has soo many emotions in it & I loved them all.
I laughed,
I cried,
I had my heart racing just like Dax & Violet had upon meeting each other and their interactions.
I had goosebumps for all the pumped up vibes and actions taking place in Dax’s rockstar world.
I felt compassion for how much Dax is such a spiritual being.
I fell hard in LOVE with how Dax Morgan loves intensely, hard and determined no matter what the consequences are to be with the one he knows he is meant to me with. Love a man who goes for what he wants!
Oh and plenty of scorching sexy times that had me breathless and twitching in my seat as I read.
The word Fireflies will forever remind me of this story and always put a smile on my face.
Go get this top 2019 must read book from Author Lauren Rowe!
5 Rocking Popped!
Lauren Rowe sucked me into the tornado named Rockstar and I can’t describe the feelings with words. My mind is a beautiful mess of emotions. The chaos is so addictive that I don’t want to come out of it. The swoony, sexy, angsty story is holding my heart captive and I don’t mind at all.
Dax morgan is the epitome of a great artist. The moody, brooding, temperamental musician with swirls of softness. He is the golden boy with golden heart. A mama’s boy, a loyal friend, a dedicated brother , a generous lover, an exciting rare talent. He is hilarous, intense, nuclear hot sexy and every delectable thing imaginable. Lauren Rowe nailed the rockstar language. The way he talks and moves and acts, is the exact kind of dreamy sexy intense it should be. I devoured his words aka Lauren Rowe’s words like a starving person. And songs! Oh my goodness, the freaking soul numbing, goosebump and tear inducing songs! That is definitely something you won’t easily find.
And then he meets Violet. His muse, his one, his inspiration, his undoing. I want to take a leaf or two out of Violet’s book of life. She got knocked down and messed up. She is real, vulnerable, smart, sassy, resourceful and selfless to the point of martyrdom. I can’t imagine the courage it takes to love with whole heart after being broken and rejected so many times. She soothes Dax and she deserves every great thing. Their passion explodes spectacularly. Their jagged pieces mold perfectly and I felt the “flow” too!
And Lauren Rowe dragged them through hell. The backlash of fame. The disbalance of career and love. The brutal demands of life and friendship. But the connection of the lifetime stands apart. The family and friends of Dax act like pillars of their relationship. And in the end there is simply so much love and support that I couldn’t hold back tears.
Rockstar by Lauren Rowe has amazed me beyond anything. The intense deep emotions. The adrenaline rush and then the crash. It was no less sensational than a live music concert. The electric vibe of the epic bruised love stunned me.
Wow! This was my first read by Lauren Rowe, and I was absolutely blown away! I had no idea what I had been missing. This was a sexy and sinful rock star romance at its finest. Dax and Violet were amazing. Their love story was scorching hot, full of heart and sprinkled with humor throughout.
One of the things I loved the most was the Morgan clan. They were accepting, supportive and loved unconditionally. I really enjoyed the dialogue between them, the nicknames, the camaraderie and the endless laughs. They were everything that you could possibly want in a family. I can’t wait to go back and read each and every story written about them.
The chemistry between Dax and Violet was magical and sparked from the get go. They were both so passionate and full of love, but their journey was not always an easy one. There were certain issues they had to overcome, but that was part of the enjoyment watching them find their way back to one another.
In all, I absolutely loved Rockstar by Lauren Rowe! Every single word of it. This romance had me laughing, swooning and falling head over heels for each of these characters. Do yourself a favor and pick this book up. The sexy rock star hero and his disco momma queen will quickly capture your heart.
High Voltage Flow
Two hearts beating together…
Two souls made for each other…
This is Dax and Violet’s story…
One word, mind blowing. This is how I truly feel about the story of Dax and Violet. Dax did not know what hit him when he locked eyes with a stunning beauty named Violet. Dax thought he would have an amazing night of carnal pleasure and they would go theirseparate ways. Not happening. They immediately bonded and connected on a level not either of them were prepared for. Even after months of being apart, she was still infused into his bloodstream. Dax knew he could never let her go, even with consequences. And there were consequences. Their journey together was passionate, heart breaking and moving.
This couple opened up my chest, gripped my heart and never let go. This was a powerful soul-stirring love story and one I will not soon forget.
Rockstar by Lauren Rowe gives readers the long awaited Morgans’ brothers story of Dax Morgan- the “Rockstar”. Dax Morgan and Violet Rhodes’s story a rollercoaster ride of emotions that had me going through highs and lows right along with the main characters. From the moment Dax and Violet came together in their first meeting, sparks leap off the pages in bright lights and beautiful chemistry. Without giving anything away, i will say that Ms. Rowe wrote the perfect heroine for Dax with Violet. She’s sassy, intelligent, sweet and funny. She pairs beautifully with the intriguing introvert/extrovert that Dax is- he is this handsome ,mysterious and sexy man who is a world famous rockstar. Their love story is epic, the feels are amazing and the story is full of drama, angst, twists and amazing romance. Ms. Rowe outdid herself with Dax’s story and Rockstar is quite the emotional, addictive read!!!
My Rating: 4.8 stars *******
This story is ah-mazing! Dax is a Morgan, for sure, but he has a deep and sensitive soul that made this book a little more angsty than the others in this series. Angsty in the best kind of way. His journey with Violet will break you several times, but then you are put right back together.
Fans of the Morgan brothers will love the story of baby brother Dax, and newcomers to the series will fall in love for the first of many times with this amazing family.
Oh, and HOW AMAZING is it that the author produced a soundtrack to go along with the music featured in the story. Who does that? Lauren Rowe, that’s who. Can this lady be any more talented?
5 hearts for the 5 siblings that stole mine from page one. Lauren Rowe knocked this one out of the park. Violet is, hands down, one of my favorite heroines. She was perfect for Dax. And, Dax. Oh man. Isn’t every girls dream to have a hot as f**k Rockstar write songs about you?? And sing them to you while you fall asleep or while you’re rocking out in the crowd. Totally swooning HARD over here!!! Their chemistry was perfect. Their story was perfect. Everything about Rockstar was perfect. It was the perfect ending and the perfect happily ever for the entire Morgan clan. I’m still flying high.
HOLY FUCKIN DELICIOUS!!!!
WOW!!!!!
Talk about books you need to own in your arsenal of book hauls!
ROCKSTAR is a book you damn well in your life and it can also be your holy grail of things ROCKSTAR!!! “FANS MYSELF”!!!
Not kidding loves you can spend sometimes drooling and swooning over your hearts desires with DAX!
What an awesome ending to one of my favourite series.
Lauren Rowe never disappoints, and Dax and Violets story was no exception.
This story took me through every emotion known to man (and maybe a couple of not known ones)
Morgan clan, you are going to be sorely missed, but I can always revisit you when the pangs of loneliness get too strong.
Dax and Violet gave me all the fireflies!!!
I’m blown away by Lauren Rowe’s brilliance. The women has completely outdone herself. Rockstar is truly amazing. Sexy, swoony, forbidden, angsty and just overall entertaining, I did not want this book to ever end. The twist and turns…gah!…they set me off on a whirlwind of emotions. Weeks after reading and I’m still hungover. I love, love, loooove this book so dang much.
It’s no secret that I am deeply in love with the Morgan family. Like desperately-wishing-they-were-real-and-wanting-to-be-one kind of love. However, if I’m honest, I felt a little disconnected from Dax before reading Rockstar. I didn’t feel like I really knew him. Now that I’ve read his story… *blows out breath* y’all…Dax Morgan is EVERY. SINGLE. THING!! This supremely talented, sensitive, sexy man has stolen a giant piece of my heart. He so different from your typical rock star. Loyal and dedicated, I’m was crushing on him big time.
If falling for Daxy wasn’t enough. Ms. Rowe throws in the sweetest, most kind hearted, human being ever. I couldn’t help but fall for Violet too. She’s had a lot to deal with growing up, leaving her with some insecurities. But still, her spirit and good radiated off the page.
The instant connection between these two really make this book. They’re so perfectly matched. I couldn’t get enough of their chemistry. *dreamy sigh* Soo in love with their love.
You do not have to read the previous Morgan Brothers books to read this one. I feel like Rockstar had a different vibe from the other books. It still had Lauren Rowe’s typical humor and heart. It just had something extra that really took Rockstar to another level. If you want a book that will make you laugh, cry, swoon and fall in love, then you need Rockstar in you life ASAP.
Also, Can we find Fish a nice girl, please?!
I am literally struggling on how to write this review. I have been with the Morgan clan the whole way. Up until now Captain has always been my favorite. Always, and I have maintained that. Dax just blew that out of the water. I have bee not wanting to read this book, yet wanting to devour it all at once because it’s the last Morgan book. It’s like watching my youngest go to kindergarten. In this book you can really see the passion and love that the author has, not just for writing but for music as well.
She blends the two beautifully, this book almost reads like a song. The passion in this book, the story, this isn’t a typical rockstar romance. This book evokes all the feels in the world, it’s about staying true to you, being excited in whatever gives you passion, and never giving up. This story is told in dual pov, and I loved every word.
