It was lyrics at first sight when I saw Violet Rhodes across that crowded party. She was lights and darks, swirled together. Music in motion. And all of it while looking like a hitwoman at an Elvis convention. I had nothing to offer the intriguing girl but a one-night stand. I figured I’d revel in my last night of anonymity before my first tour and shoot her a quick “We’ll always have L.A.!” … L.A.!” goodbye the next morning.
But nothing went according to plan.
In one night, Violet crawled under my skin and into my bloodstream. She tattooed her name across my chest and between my legs. She became my muse. And then she was gone.
Now, months later, here she is again. And in a twist I never saw coming, it turns out Violet is ultra-violet radiation. Beautiful, ethereal light bringing with her the promise of damage and destruction.
My brain tells me to walk away from this girl, but my heart can’t stop feeling like she might be one of a kind . . . the sort of girl who comes along once in a violet moon.

“Music. It’s everything to me. When I’m writing a song and it’s flowing, that’s like a hand job for my soul.”
When I saw the cover, and then the title, it was a no-brainer for me. Instant gratification for my rockstar romance addiction. I devoured this story, enjoying every second of the experience, sighing with satisfaction as I turned the final page.
There are so many things that did it for me in this story. I’ll try to break it down for you, in alphabetical order, but it might not make any sense until you read it for yourself…
Fireflies
Flow
Forbidden
Lyrics at first sight
Morgan Mafia
Roger Rabbit
Therapy
Tub-time
That is just a tiny taste of what I love about this story that had so many sigh, swoon, and laugh-out-loud moments. It touched me on so many levels and left me a puddle of goo on the floor. Lauren Rowe, you are my #RockstarSuperHero and “That’s why I love you the most.”
He meets her at a celebrity party he’s gate crashed. Their attraction and connection is something neither have felt before. Their Love story begins.
Dax Morgan is on the cusp of achieving his dream, his band 22 Goats are releasing their first single and leaving as the supporting band for a world tour with rock band royalty RCR.
He knows that his 2 days with Violet will never be enough, but knows he wants to return to her.
OH my heart, this book brings us such an incredible journey, from the beginning of their love to the end, it reaches right into your soul. Navigating fame, and the pressures, family, friends, relationships, its a little bit of a clusterbomb!! Violet knows that Dax Morgan is her one, one she also can’t ever be with. This author brings us through this journey leaving none of our emotions intact. They feel like real friends and family and you share their anguish, hopes dreams and fears, but also their love every step of the way. Violet shines even though her past is anything but, and Dax just blows you away with his devotion, his caring and yeah of course his hot sexy body and voice !!! Their romance brings tears and laughs.
Definitely a Rockstar book that will fly into your top favorites!!!
All the stars, the sun and the moon!
Oh, my heart. How I loved Dax and his amazing journey! Soulful Dax Morgan is an amazing character. Loyal, talented, sweet and kind, a most unlikely Rockstar. But a Rockstar he is, to his core.
And Violet! She stole my breath the first time she smirked at Dax across a crowded room, I lost my heart to her just as Dax did. Their road is rocky, but as is always the case, well worth the journey.
I loved this book! Lauren Rowe does a phenomenal job of filling in the backstory so this absolutely can be read as a stand alone! Dax and Violet’s love story is huge and everybody needs to experience it!
5 Star Review of Rockstar (Morgan Brothers #5) by Lauren Rowe
This is Dax Morgan and Violet Rhodes story; a man I have been intrigued with since he was first mentioned in the series. I was thrilled to hear that he was getting his own story and what a story it is. I knew it would take a special woman to capture Dax and Violet is such a woman.
Dax is a character that oozes charisma and charm, he seems like such a happy person and is one that you cannot help but love, I know I do.
Rockstar shows us that there is a lot more to Dax than just sweetness and light and that there is a great deal of depth to the man. Who knew a Rock star would have so many layers? I fell hard and fast for Dax and this was a book that captivated me from the first chapter and would not let me go. I read Rockstar well into the night, often finding myself smiling and laughing.
The chemistry between Dax and Violet, his muse absolutely burns up the pages.; I loved Violet.
As I have come to expect from a Morgan Brother story there was a great deal of hilarity and fooling around and it was great to see the other Morgan brothers make an appearance; the love of family is so strong and heart-warming and the banter between them made me smile.
Their total acceptance of Violet and the love and support they show her was mind blowing. I am saddened to know that this is the last book in the series. To me reading a Morgan Brothers book is like coming home.
I was enthralled from chapter one and if I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. Loved, loved, loved Rockstar.
So this book went through a lot of ups and downs.
The beginning-Part 1 was good for the most part but Dax went through a lot of soul searching and we got to see/hear ALLLLL of his “woe is me” “poor me” moments and it got to be a bit much.
The last two hours of the book after the couple find many their way to each other and they work through things is much better.
While I didn’t feel I had to force myself to finish this book and I liked it better than Zander’s book it’s not going down as my fave Morgan Brother book.
John Lane and Lauren Rowe did a great job bringing this book to life and my only real complaint is when Lauren tries to voice Papa Morgan. Her voice is so sweet and is a higher register that part failed her.
I would still recommend this book to everyone as it rounds out the end of this series of books nicely.
So much fun, so sweet and plenty steamy, and those Morgans…! Thank you for the laughs and the feels, Lauren Rowe!
I’ve read all the Morgan Brothers books, (no matter what Goodreads say) And hands down Rockstar is my favourite. Daxy is my second favourite brother (shout out to my hubster Keane) but this story was EVERY THING. I thought Mr Bodyguard might have been #1, because let’s face it, Z is a defacto Morgan, but everything about this, from the romance to the songs (which you should totally buy, bee tee dubs) is intriguing.
I’ve always been a sucker for rockstar romances and this book hit the nail right on the head.
Dax is an up and coming rockstar on his way to fame. And once his gaze drifts to the beautiful Violet his muse hits him with a rush of lyrics. Love at first sight could never be truer, for the moment he takes the plunge and has his first taste of fireflies in his stomach, no other girl can erase the mark that Violet left behind.
Violet has been let down one too many times in her life. She finally gets to experience the love that she’s always so freely given. But when Dax breaks the news of landing an opening spot on an upcoming world-wide tour, her happiness is put on hold.
Dax and Violet share a chemistry that hits you from the beginning of this story. Not all rockstars like to live their life on the wild side.
**If you’re into audios, I would definitely have a listen as this author does a fantastic job of narrating her own book.
This is my second time around with Rockstar and I was hooked all over again. The first time was right after it was released and I absolutely loved it, but only had time to give it 5 stars that day. I regretted not giving it the review it deserved because it was THAT amazing to me. With Lauren Rowe’s Bad Liar just releasing, I was ready to revisit Dax and how he and the 22 Goats got their big break in this rock and roll romance.
What can be said about Goats frontman, Dax Morgan? Well, not enough, if you ask me. How to describe the youngest of 5 crazy kids born into an idyllic family filled with all the ones you love the most! Those Morgans inspire hilarity- they were cracking me up right and left! What a fun loving, caring bunch they really are. Made me wish my last name was Morgan and my home was in Seattle!
Dax is flirty and so, so sexy without even trying to be. He’s an old soul- honest, humorous, sweet, sensitive and as real as they come. His family describes him as an extroverted introvert, loving the stage but needing time to create his music just as much. Dax is has an irresistible, effervescent personality that draws attention- he is the perfect rockstar! Are you dying to know more? Let me tell you, the music and lyrics featured heavily in this story which is one of my fav parts of a musically inspired romance.
At an industry party right before his tour, Dax meets his match from across the room without saying a word- at 1st speaking only with their eyes, that striking, gorgeous woman feels like destiny.
Is one night with Violet right before the kick off of Dax’s 8 month world tour a smart idea? Probably not, but with the way all those amazing lyrics keep pouring out of his head and heart- it seems she brings out the best in him and he does the same for her…that ultra violet radiation is blinding them both!
Have you ever read about a book couple and thought- these soulmates were meant to be? That’s what I felt with Dax and Violet. Their story was paved with hard to get over obstacles, miles of separation and time gone by. Have they changed too much to finish what they started?
I’m so happy I reread Rockstar because it even was better the second time around. The love, the longing, those wacky Morgan’s and the entire cast of characters that filled this book with their humor and presence added so much to Dax and Violet’s beautiful story. It was hard to wipe the smiles off my face.
Now, for the bonus, but you have to read Rockstar first to find a little secret at the end after the amazing epilogue to discover what lengths Lauren Rowe has gone to give you the ultimate way to experience Dax more than you would think possible. It’s very creative and unique…just WOW! I have to recommend this one to all the rockstar romance lovers out there. This is a special one that will stay with you for a very long while.
It is no secret I love the Morgan family! I love their love for one another and how close they are. Dax story added to my love of the family. Dax is the Rockstar baby of the family. He meets this special lady and they hit off pretty well and have a one night stand. The chemistry and connection is undeniable. They are both hooked but Violet decide it is best they go their separate ways. I loved the various twists of the story. I thought that the story was super cute. It grabbed my attention and kept it to the end. Another great must read book by Rowe!
Holy fuck, I’d never met the Morgans before this book! They rocked my world and I’ve found a new book boyfriend in Dax baby!!
My god, Lauren writes some of the best characters I’ve ever read! She filled this story with so many amazing little details – nicknames, family traditions, family memories and more – as well as some great dialogue between the family members. I adored it all! And I adored Violet too. Oh, and the goats! So many things to love about this story.
Rockstar was full of heart. It drew me in from page one and gave me all the feels! Add this one to your TBR!
I have always attempted to give ‘star’ ratings on my completed reads, just as a tracking method for my titles that I have completed. I have unlimited packages for audio, kindle, and utilize the local/state library.
However, I do not check the ‘I recommend this book’ unless I am willing to reread a book and or a series.
[I read about 5-15 books a month through kindle, and I listen to about 15-30 books monthly]
I have a full life as a nurse, professor, wife, daughter [daughter in law], sister, and mother. I love to read and love a thousand other lives by turning the pages in countless books.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide a review. Happy reading 🙂
I am so in LOVE with this story ,I can’t even put it into words, its nothing less than Phenomenal.
It has got to be one of THE BEST Rockstar Romances I have had the pleasure to read,I laughed,I cried and Swooned in equal measure, and it sure had some twists and turns.
I have to say that Dax and Violet have got to be one of my favourite couples.
Lauren’s writing is so perfectly detailed that each and every character is brought to life so realistically, they are purely believable and you can totally imagine them in the real world.
I guarentee you will be so addicted.
I completely Love 22 Goats ( Dax’s band) and I want to be adopted by the Morgans,(Dax’s family).
The only criticism I have is that it ended,I could have read about Dax,Violet and the Morgans forever,This book has my highest recommendation. I am the ultimate Groupie.
Spectacular.
Dax Morgan and Violet Rhodes
Dax and Violet, met at a party for Aloha Carmichael. You’ve heard the saying “your kiss causes sparks?” Well , for Dax and Violet, those sparks were actually “fireflies.”
This book, oh my heart. I wasn’t sure it was going to survive. Don’t get me wrong, my heart done lots of happy dances with, Dax and the rest of the Morgan clan. But there were many times I was wiping my tears away too.
Lauren, really done a knockout job with this installment of the Morgan Brother’s. I love how with each book, everyone has a story, and finally, Dax got his. I loved it, and highly recommend it to be read as part of the Morgan Brother’s Series.
Phenomenal
I can’t say enough about how much I loved this book. As far as Rock Star romances go it is by far my favorite. It has all the characteristics of a Rockstar romance, but it is fresh and new and fantastic. Not to mention Lauren Rowe has created an entire experience with original music and ways to connect with Dax. Amazing! And because I am not done gushing…I have read all the Morgan Brothers and this is such a fitting end. Bittersweet sure, I don’t want to say goodbye but I am satisfied. It can be read as a standalone however I am beyond happy I new all the players, even from The Club Series, because it just added to book for me. I was able to live next to these characters for a few days and I will be back to visit them whenever I need my fix. I want to be adopted into the Morgan Clan!
Q: Why would I want to get mobbed walking down the street? If Reed thinks that sounds appealing to an artist like me, not to mention an introvert, he doesn’t know me at all. I’m all about the music, man. Not fame or fortune or easy women.
Lauren Rowe has only been on my radar since I read Hero in early 2018 and with every new book I get my hands on by this author I am blown away—totally, completely mind blown for one reason or another—and so sooooo in love with her words!!! Rockstar was no different. This book was outstanding. I have long awaited Dax Morgan’s book, and that wait was not in vain. Lauren delivered a beautiful romance that had all the characteristics I have come to expect from her: laughter, an irresistible hero, an epic story, swoon-worthy moments that take my breath away, sexy times that leave me in much need of a cold shower… aww, but that list just goes on and on…. Needless to say, RockStar is absolutely a five-star read, and waiting to pick up this book is just a discredit to those of us who have screamed from the rooftops of our love for Lauren’s words!!!
Q: “I don’t get butterflies when you laugh.” He touches my thigh. “I get fireflies. I feel lit up from deep inside.”
While I could go into many reasons why I loved RockStar so damn much it really boils down to a few things. The characters and the very beauty of Lauren Rowe’s storytelling talents. The characters bred a connection that I have found with few authors. Yet I feel like it’s a standard with Lauren’s books that I have had the pleasure of reading. It’s hard not to feel a connection to these particular stories as all of the Morgan Brother’s books have won my heart and been five star reads for this avid book lover. While each book is a standalone, they all have one commonality, The Morgan Family—hints the series name. And while each story within the series are all characteristically unique, they ultimately bring me back to the heart and soul of romance—the personal connections that exist when we allow ourselves to love freely and openly. Lauren begins with a family that loves the way a family is supposed to love—a close-knit family that gives room for each of the members to be individuals. Then, Lauren writes characters that you fall helplessly in love with because they aren’t perfect and each and every story in the Morgan Brother’s series offers a romance that is without question 1000% unique from any romance I have read before… each book to date has offered readers a different trope with various degrees of angst that only heighten the story she tells. I have found them to each be largely unpredictable and I love when I am reading a book and not guessing what’s about to happen… When I can simply get lost in the story.
Q: …we were magic together! Being with Dax felt like clicking a last jigsaw puzzle piece into place.
While the Morgan’s are the draw to this particular series, it’s ultimately the writer’s storytelling that makes the connection and deliveries the unforgettable romance inherent in her books. And it’s undebatable that there is something incredible that takes place when an author writes book after book and each book meets with the same overwhelming love within our hearts. That’s how I have felt each time I’ve picked up one of these books over the last year. And if you are reading my review looking for something negative regarding Lauren’s work, then you’re following the wrong blogger. In addition to loving the family dynamics, I feel like Lauren tells the absolute best story for the individuals that she can. Their stories are unique, and they all play their parts in captivating our hearts in different for a variety of reasons. Dax’s story happened to bring this rockstar romance junky both the bitter and the sweet aspects of rockstar lifestyle. Yet, she still made the romance the focus and I loved leaving reality behind for this slice of heaven that straddled both reality and fiction.
Q: My heart is exploding, my skin is on fire, my eyes feel magnetically pulled to her. And, most of all, my belly is alive with flapping wings and glowing lights that only this woman, and no other, ignites inside me.
RockStar is without a doubt one of my most anticipated reads this year and will stand up as one of my favorite reads as well. It sucked me straight into the story and held me with a consistent pace. Dax Morgan, like his brothers, stole my heart when I read Hero. I wanted to know more about the baby of the Morgan family, and I can’t tell you how fulfilling this story was. The story was funny, super sexy, angsty—I swore that Dax was never going to get the girl… only he did and wow, it was spectacular—but it was also a deeply satisfying romance. The book gave us so much depth into Dax’s character and how touring with his band—and without the one person he wants more than anything else—helps him grow and ultimately hurts him. This story brings readers right back into the Morgan Family fold with all the fun, emotional and unique moments that comes only from being part of this family. RockStar also introduces readers to Violet—Vi—the heroine that wins over Dax. That inspires him and brings him low without even knowing how completely she’s captivated Dax.
Q: She set me free to fully experience whatever’s coming my way, without guilt or trepidation.
RockStar is in many ways a second chance romance and provides all the angst of unrequited love, or as far as our hero and heroine are concerned, that’s what the ‘one that got away’ represented at the time. Luckily for those of use reading the dual POV story, we know differently, but the angst it presents for the characters is fantastic and made me consume chapter after chapter and before I knew it the night had passed into morning. After I consumed mass quantities of coffee, I wanted nothing more than to dive right back into this story… ultimately family, and blogging, kept me from doing so. But it’s one of those books that I will reread again and again because I truly loved it. Reading a book more than once is always a sign of an excellent story in my book. And over the last year, I have reread each book within my library by Lauren Rowe. I can’t recommend an author more… Buy RockStar and find out why I love her the way I do… Discover the Morgan family for yourself!
Q: “Music. It’s everything to me. When I’m writing a song and it’s flowing, that’s like a hand job for my soul. When it’s finished and I get to play it for the first time from beginning to end, that’s the blow job. When I play it for someone else for the first time, that’s fucking. And when I perform it for a whole club full of people…” I shudder. “Oh, baby, that’s the orgasm.”
I LOVE DAX AND VIOLET!!!!
I don’t know where to start……About-to-hit-the-big-time, rockstar, young, sexy, sweet, loving Dax Morgan is not your typical rockstar, and meeting fashion design student, Violet Rhodes, was really just a fluke…but it seems more like fate!! Either way, it was lust/love at first sight, and they spend one perfect, hotter than hot, night together, and, although it’s anything but, it’s treated like a one night stand, and when it’s over, Violet bails….because Violet has some knowledge, Dax doesn’t have…And, then, he leaves for his band’s first world tour….Those are always conducive to happy relationships!!!
I love this couple….and I love this book…
When I read Mister Bodyguard by this author, I found her writing style to be slow paced but incredibly sweet. This book is no less. The pace is slow but the book is chock full of warm-hearted moments, so much family love, and spiced with the right amount of angst and humor.
I liked Dax and Violet as a couple. Dax had the irresistible appeal of the youngest sibling in the family, he knows his older brothers and sister have his back. He’s a little spoiled and a little entitled, but he‘s also sweet and generous and loving, so we forgive him. He grew up a lot during the course of this book.
Violet was raised by a single mother, had a step-father for a too brief period, lost him to tragic circumstances. She has trust and abandonment issues, and yet, she works at designing hero suits for kids with cancer as a way to improve their life. I saw her as courageous, forgiving, intuitive and generous. She and Dax made a great couple, and she inspired Dax to write the best songs ever.
Violet did something very wise. Since they met and fell for each other on the eve of Dax’s first tour as an opening band, she didn’t want to pursue any relation with him, even though they had such a great connection. She let him be free to experience the chaotic existence of a world tour. Then at the end of the tour in eight months, they could connect again, if he so desired. As predicted, Dax went wild, missed Violet so much but still messed around with groupies, developed uncertainty about their feelings, and came back from tour a total mess.
His older brothers intervened, helped him get on track again, and when he finally saw Violet again, his feelings and hers were reinforced. However, there were huge obstacles against their HEA. They both made mistakes, Dax was a little coward and douche, but their feelings were strong and true. This story was highly entertaining because of their strong feelings, fun banter and comical nicknames. This family don’t refer to each other by their given names but by nicknames that show their love. Sometimes they are too cheesy but it’s cute. I loved the family feel, the warm-hearted vibe and Dax and Violet’s strong inner self. There are sexy times, funny times, family times, and very angsty and angry times. It was highly entertaining.
I have a huge amount of love for Lauren and her Morgan family, seriously I just can’t get enough of them and finally, finally we get Dax’ story and what an incredible story it is!!
When I first read a book in the Morgan brothers series (Ball Peen Hammer) I was hooked on them all and what their stories would be especially Dax, the rockstar of the family and after years of waiting we’ve finally been blessed with his story, with Rockstar
This book shows you how Dax copes with life on the road, how he manages to live without the one person he can’t have whilst on tour, what it does to him and how he feels.
We get to see Dax’ bond with his family, his band mates and his friends and watching Dax do all of that is absolutely beautiful. This man has such a beautiful soul and the songs he writes, they’re just as beautiful as him. I never knew exactly how much I needed this story until I had it. We also get the pleasure of meeting Violet, this woman is incredible. She goes through a lot, has to deal with a lot but she’s still an amazing, strong woman that you just can’t help but love.
Watching these two together is fun, extremely sexy and at times, heartbreaking. They’ve both got baggage and watching them deal is just..ugh.
Lauren Rowe most definitely knows how to write a book that’ll leave you with so many feels you don’t know what to do with them. Dax and Vi’s story is an emotional one that you’ll love so much.
Rockstar is a fun, sexy but heartbreaking love story that will have you clutching at your heart then smiling so hard. It’s emotional and beautiful and one of my best reads this year.
Dax and Violet is not a traditional love story. One night at a party and Dax is over the moon but he can’t see it for the stars in his eyes. Violet is feeling the pull but, after just ending a relationship is nowhere near ready for another.
Months apart does nothing to ease the burn. Then when they meet up again there is a trainwreck of a situation in the way!
I had fun with this story and the cluster surrounding it. Getting the adorable Morgan clan again was a definite bonus! Dax and Violet and a smoldering, emotion ripping couple. There were moments I just wanted to yell at them or soothe them or shake them. The sadness and joyfulness at the end leave me hoping for a future resolution. But that is on me. Daxy is adorable in his love for Violet. And her strength throughout the book is plain to see.
