Witty remarks and barbs flinging back and forth. It definitely heats the relationship up from where the feelings thought gone or dormant to boiling between DJ and Brent. Brent definitely it’s the life id the party but failed to see where his true affections are toward until he almost lost her forever.

How could Brent not recognize DJ? He is a rockstar charmer and she is a hard working rancher who never takes time for herself. They get off on the wrong foot and it’s not until they both realize that the other did their grieving differently do things start to change. It seems he lives up to his reputation. Both of them are interesting characters and the reader is left waiting to find how they arrive at their HEA. Good reading.

DJ is Derrick’s sister and they run the family ranch. Brent takes one look at her and realizes she his new muse for his music. The sparks fly between them but they both want different things in their lives. I really enjoyed this book.
Very entertaining, fun, engaging and heartwarming romantic journey filled with small town goodness and an intriguing couple that grew-up together and now are possibly growing to so much more that friends…. a good read from beginning to end.
Can DJ resist Brent?
KC Klein has written another bewitching piece and I loved it. I enjoyed how the dialogue was so real you become so engrossed in the lives of the characters. For me, that is just brilliant writing and KC does it so well. This story has humor and chemistry and you will be hooked after the first few pages! If you are looking for a book with a complying story and is just plain fun to read I highly recommend you pick this one up. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This was well written and the characters are great and the setting is written beautifully. I just wish it wasn’t the school yard bs of I like you so I’m going to do everything I can to make you miserable.

This is the second book in The Heart of Texas series. This is a second chance story for Brent and DJ (Danielle). Brent is DJ’s older brother, Derrek’s best friend. Brent has always wanted to get out of Somewhere, Texas and after he graduates high school, his plan is to travel to Nashville with his guitar to make it big in country music. Soon after Brent leaves and is actually beginning to make progress in his career as a musician, Derrek and DJ’s parents are killed in a freak accident. At this point, the boys are eighteen and DJ is fifeteen. Derrek steps up with the family ranch and becomes a guardian for DJ. This is a moment that hits each of these characters hard and makes a large impact on them moving forward. After a few years, Brent’s career is spiraling and he goes home to the ranch to get back in touch with his roots. The attraction and the bitterness between DJ and Brent is visible. The story starts when Brent arrives back at the ranch and verbal match begins between DJ and Brent. This was a really good story on how grief, success and survival can shape your life and outlook on things. Can Brent and DJ resolve their differences and find their HEA?

A funny and entertaining read for sure. You’ll have times where you’re laughing out loud at this small town romance story. There’s romance, longing, and hope between the characters as Brent and Danielle deal with feelings they had for each other in high school. Brent left to be a singer and Danielle stayed behind and is now the owner/manager of her family’s ranch. Brent is now back trying to find his singing inspiration again and is helping on the ranch while he’s back. being near Danielle everyday is making him realize maybe his dream of having a singing career isn’t what he really thinks he wants in life. A good story that will have you turning the pages until the end.

A second chance or never meant to be
The Rock Star Cowboy is the debut book by KC Klein and the first of In The Heart of Texas series. I found the book was nicely written with an entertaining story-line and a couple nice characters in Brent and DJ, who were both well developed. There were a few things that I did not quite buy into and a few proofreading errors which bothered me. But overall this was a nice introduction to this author and I will try another book or two to see how the series progresses.
