Rock Bannon has a heart as big as the Rocky Mountains that surround his quiet home, but he’s always known that romance wasn’t in the cards for him. Instead, the big man does his best to see that others around him are happy and safe. A man riding for the brand doesn’t have time for silly things like love. Mary Ellen Bigsby is off on an adventure to the home of her favorite writer. She knows it is … knows it is a frivolous journey, but she wants this one trip before she’s too old to travel. Having given her youth to the classroom, she’s ready for a change but unprepared for what she finds at the end of the trail.
Francis has been accepted by the people of Biders Clump, but the father of the girl he loves is set against him. The young Indian brave will do anything to win the hand of Matrice and start a happy home of their own but can’t seem to overcome her father’s resistance. When Matrice suggests running away together, Francis has to make the hardest decision of his life.
Will true love win the day or will two young people be pulled apart by one man’s stubbornness? What revelations await the quiet cowboy when a tiny teacher arrives in Biders Clump?

This was another great read!! I loved Rock and Mary Ellen’s story!! I especially like the fact that they are over 40, and found love for the first time together. Love can come at any age, and just because it comes later doesn’t mean it isn’t as great as if it comes younger. In fact, it can be better later because of the maturity that’s taken place, and shows that you can live a very fulfilling life without being married. Mary Ellen really wasn’t looking for love, but it sure found her!!! Rock didn’t expect to, either, and certainly not with a woman like Mary Ellen!! You just can’t tell until love finds you!!
I love Danni’s books and read all I can get.
I liked that the characters were a little older and more mature. They and the plot could have been more deeply developed. The storylines took place over a matter of only weeks. The book begs an editor and a wagonload of commas.
Sometimes you just like to see the older couple find happiness in what they consider their old age. Well I suppose never married and reaching 35 was considered old in the mid 1800s. A sweet, touching story that makes you want to jump up and cheer when these two realize they want and need each other with all their differences and most of all, they have fallen in love.
Really good story and no sex. Yea!
How sad for a woman who is in her 30s to think that she is doomed to spinsterhood. I wasn’t sure where this book was going but I enjoyed it.
A reminder, that if we are open to new things, good things just might happen.
Good read!
Sweet romance. Somewhat predictable. but entertaining !
Clean, hopeful, endearing and relevant for the time period, mores and protocols of the book’s demographics. Nice to see/read nice people are successful, compassionate, vulnerable and stoically determined to face obstacles physical, social and emotional with each other and make the best of “it” for any/all involved.
I enjoyed every minute of this book
Very run-of-the-mill book. Follows a standard predictable model. Found many grammatical errors in the book – either the author or the proofreaders really messed up in some areas.
Danni Roan grabbed me with the opening of chapter one. I could totally picture Miss Bigsby except I had her much older. With her frequent referral to herself as a “old spinster” I was surprised by her true age of mid 30’s. I could picture the “oversized” Rock with the petite Mary Ellen. Their courtship was so gentle and gradual, that it was no surprise that he almost let her get away. I totally recommend this book.
This is Book Eleven in the series and the sad part of it is, I haven’t read all the other books. Yes, I’ve read some of the series but not all so I did feel a bit lost once in awhile. There is a lot happening in this small town and everyone seems welcome, no matter their heritage, income, reputation or talents to earn a living. It’s a fun and lighthearted story-line.
I loved it! What a sweet little lady as the main character. I could just imagine boarding a train to find a favorite author! There are two romance story lines built into one novel. I won’t spoil it by saying more. This is just a very sweet and fun to read story.
Rock Bannon has waited a long time for love. It seems like with a man who has a big heart it would have come about earlier in his life. He is a big man along with his big heart. Love hasn’t arrived yet in his life.
Mary Ellen Bigsby considers herself a spinster. A lifelong teacher recently let go from her position, she decides to go out and see the town of Biders Clump where her favorite Author lives.
Can Mary Ellen sooth Rock’s soul and bring love to a Man that thought he was to live his life alone? Will Rock see in time that he has finally met his future?
Danni Roan’s characters in the town of Biders Clump not only accept anyone that chooses to stop a while and live among them, but they open your heart to life as we hope it can be. Loving, caring and happy.
You will truly enjoy reading this book while you get to know the back characters as well as the main characters.
Truly a beautiful story in a beautiful setting.
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
A book that has many wonderful character that will have you wishing you resided in Biders Clump. I love this little town and how Rock is such a part of it. The author does a wonderful job of keeping you guessing of what happens with Mary Ellen in this story. The end was fabulous and has me crossing my fingers for another book in Biders Clump.
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
