Relationships aren’t rocket science. If they were, I might stand a chance of figuring one out. Elijah Saying I’ve had a crush on my best friend’s older brother, Pax, most of my life is like saying the big bang was just an explosion. It’s true, but I’m not sure that quite captures the essence of its true enormity.I know he’s only hanging out with me because I’m new in town and getting my PhD … because I’m new in town and getting my PhD doesn’t leave me with much time to make friends. And even if it did, my strength is mathematics, not friend-making. What I don’t understand is why he kissed me… why he seems to want to keep kissing me. I don’t think my advanced physics knowledge is going to help me figure this one out. But I think for once I’m okay with not knowing, as long as Pax and I don’t know together.
Pax
He’s still the awkward Nerdlet I remember…he’s also probably the cutest, most tempting man I’ve laid eyes on. I know I should keep my hands off him, but this thing between us is like a force of nature. I want to be his first everything. He says we’re nothing more than atoms crashing into each other. I’m no scientist but I don’t think either of us are braced for the explosion.

K.M. Neuhold is a fantastic author. Most of her work speaks to me and I find myself devouring everything that she writes. But, when Rocket Science first dropped, I read the blurb with an overall sense of disinterest. The lack of intrigue threw me for a loop because I love books where opposites attract. The proverbial underdogs snagging the unobtainable hotties are like a soothing balm to my damaged soul. So, not being drawn to Elijah and Paxton’s story was odd for me. But, because of my love for K.M. Neuhold and her work, I bit the bullet and downloaded Rocket Science to give it a chance. I thought that, perhaps, I was just being finicky and to a point, I was right in thinking so.
Elijah and Pax were a fairly decent couple to read about. Pax is the driven individual focused on his job and getting laid in his downtime. He’s not the sort of guy who does relationships, having cheated on boyfriends in the past, making him think that he should just avoid them at all costs. He’s not looking to start a relationship with his little brother’s nerdy friend. Elijah is not looking for a boyfriend. I think that he’s leaning toward the Demi side of the spectrum, so he’s not that fussed hooking up. He’s solely focused on getting his Ph.D. after moving to California, and he doesn’t have time for socializing. His best friend, Theo, has other plans though. Theo asks Pax to get his buddy out to socialize which ultimately sets the two of them up to fall.
I liked that Elijah was unapologetically himself. There were a couple of instances when he thought people were making fun of him and he didn’t withdraw. In one of those instances, he called the person out, letting them know he wasn’t there to be made fun of. I also really loved his nerdy, virginal innocents, and overall lack of experience when it comes to anything naughty. Pax, on the other hand, made me shake my head in irritation a few times. He’s this hot guy, full of confidence, and yet he didn’t have the balls to tell his friends that Elijah was the guy he’d been messing around with. I understand the Elijah wasn’t broken-hearted about that, but I felt dejected for him because he deserved better than that. There were a few other things that bugged me about how Pax treated Elijah, but in the end, it all worked out for them.
Theo was a bit of a mystery to me. He was in love with Elijah when they were younger but he got over it when bestie didn’t seem to notice him. Yet, when he finds out the Elijah is interested in someone, he gets overly protective and a little weird. I know that’s because he doesn’t want his friend to get hurt, but it comes off as possessive. Seph and Alex both seem like total sweethearts that I’d love to know in real life. I want to hug the hell out of Bishop for what he’s going through emotionally with Hudson. Bishop comes across as a man who wants to be in a loving relationship and Hudson treats him like a booty call. I can’t wait to finish reading Four Letter Word because I need to see how things play out for them, Leo, and Riot.
One complaint I do have about the audiobook version of this book is that Zachary Zaba, the narrator, seemed to read the book so fast! It felt a little rushed in my opinion. I could have slowed down the reading speed with the Audible app, but that’s not the point. Zachary is a ‘new to me’ narrator who does a pretty good job aside from the speed of which he read Rocket Science. In Four Letter Word he seems to have slowed down a bit which makes it more enjoyable. In the long run, he isn’t a bad narrator. I think the production of this audiobook might have just been a one-off.
In conclusion, Rocket Science wasn’t a bad book. It wasn’t my favorite of K.M. Neuhold’s work, but it was okay. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in reading about opposites attracting, especially those of the nerdy/player variety. I’d also say that if you enjoy K.M. Neuhold’s other books you’ll probably like this one even if you don’t love it.
Really hoping to see books for some of the secondary characters! This was a cute, fun, easy read that left me wanting more.
Adored this book. Author was new to me so double win: Great book and a new author to stalk with the promise of a glorious back list. I highly recommend. Hugs, Z.
A rating…I loved this book. It was simply pure fun and entertaining to read. The two heroes were wonderful together. I loved how they were complete opposites…confident manwhore vs. the awkward virgin….but gah, they were wonderful together. I loved it! Definitely recommend!
Absolutely charming and sexy! I’m a sucker for the nerd/cool guy and BFF’s older brother tropes.
HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT, did I mention HOT. This was an amazing story! When Elijah’s best friend, Theo, calls his brother to make sure that Elijah has a friendly face in a new town, Elijah just hoped that he was over the crush he had on him in high school. Elijah is the socially awkward, nerdy, naïve virgin, and Pax is… well Pax is everything opposite. Definitely not a virgin, naïve, or awkward. Pax agreed to help out Elijah, what he didn’t count on was the attraction that he felt towards him. Everything in Pax says that this is a bad idea, that he should scale back and remain just friends with Elijah. But when Elijah is wanting to learn the art of flirting and everything that comes after, Pax doesn’t stand a chance. Will Pax prove what he knew all along, that he was no good for Elijah? Or is Elijah just the person he needed in the end?
Once again KM Neuhold has written an amazing story. It’s not just about the hot naughty bits (and they were on fire), she gives us a story that keeps us entertained, and I could not stop until I had read every juicy detail! I give this 5 stars.
Rocket Science by K.M. Neuhold is the perfect blend of player/geek, experienced man/virgin, and romantic/spicy! I can count one one hand the number of books that have given me goosebumps, and this book is one of them! Tons of FEELS when Elijah’s shyness and insecurities meet Pax’s fear of commitment/hurting him. Oh, and it’s brother’s best friend! I highly recommend.
Wonderful characters finding love is slightly more complicated than rocket science.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.
Oh what sweet n’ spicy treat this was! Rocket Science was pure addicting, entertaining, a swoon worthy romance that called to my inner romantic. This was extra yummy and perfectly light and sweet.
I do love K.M. Neuhold’s angsty, emotional romances, but I have to say, Rocket Science was much more satisfying than I expected. I loved the steamy and light-hearted romance. The story progressed beautifully and had a lot of great feels. The kind of feels that makes the heart just…melt. Elijah and Pax were MADE for each other. Their feelings for one another was a wonderful slow burn romance that had me smiling and sighing dreamily. I loved it!
Rocket Science gets a DREAMY FIVE SPECTACULAR STARS!
I absolutely adored this book. Pax and Elijah are really great together. We get
Best friend’s brother
Friends with benefits
Nerd Vs Jock
Virgin MC
Dual POV
This book has some delicious tropes that were just perfect. Lots of hot sex and amazing chemistry, this book is such a winner. I love Elijah so much, he’s fucking adorable.
“There’s this idea in string theory that there are infinite parallel universes with infinite possibilities,” he says, settling closer to me, his soft cock, still wet with his cum, pressing against my thigh as he hitches a leg over mine and nestles his head onto my chest. He lets out a content sigh, his whole body relaxing into me.
“I hope we’re doing this in every single one of them.”
Loved the side characters. I really want more of Bishop and Hudson. I mean I can already see the angst. Feels so bad for Bishop.
I love the awkward nerd and jock who’s a player trope and this is highly recommended to anyone who loves this trope. Epilogue was so perfect!!

This was a highly entertaining novel with a sweet nerd and a cocky player. It is a fun and light read that gave me all the feel-good vibes. It’s full of humor, sassy banter, and hot sex. Some situations could have been angsty, but the author didn’t let it happen. She kept it light but with enough spice and depth not to let it go sappy or mushy. I only have to recall a certain fruit, and I break out in giggles.
The characters are well developed, and they crawled under my skin without any effort at all. They were so real, and even though they grew, they stayed true to their nature throughout the entire story. Elijah stays the genius nerd, naïve and awkward, but oh-so adorkable. I loved the moments he got sassy and took the initiative, but then the shyness took over once again.
Pax was equally lovely and a good match for Elijah. He’s a player, and he’s the first one to say so, but he’s by no means arrogant or cocky. Well, a bit cocky but in a sweet and fun way.
Their connection was palpable, with a lot of teasing back and forth. Yes, these two guys were made for each other. And the epilogue is just brilliant. You have to love Einstein.
The story has a good flow and kept me hooked from the start. The secondary cast is interesting, and I’m hoping we’ll be reading more about Theo, Pax’s brother, and Pax’s best friends, Seph, Hudson, and Bishop.
I can’t remember the last time I read a story that was so frickin cute I wanted to cry…these two made me stupidly happy that I have no words to describe how much I loved this book.
It was funny, sexy, steamy and so full of swoon it was almost too much. I finished it in one sitting and just wished for it to go on and on. Book tow by this author and I’m a HUGE fan.

Rocket Science by K.M. Neuhold is a stand-alone MM romance and is an amazing read. You have to love the adorable and virginal nerd making the sexy playboy type fall hard for him. Plus it’s a best friend’s older brother story!
Pax and Elijah are fantastic characters who had me laughing, awww-ing and my kindle heating up. The supporting characters are interesting and fun, too. This story was funny, sweet at times, sexy and altogether fun! Loved it!
