But her days are too long. It’s hard for me to catch the chronology of her novels. How could so many things happen between sunrise and night.
Anne takes off where her father, Tony, left off (due to his death), using the same characters of the Navajo Tribal Police, Navajo beliefs and customs, as a background for intriguing crime / mystery novels. Like her dad’s, I look forward to each new release from her.
I’m finding that mystery/suspense readers have a range of expectations from the books they read. Some want nothing but action, action, action. Others like a lot of character development and background exposition along with the action. Anne Hillerman’s _Rock with Wings_ will frustrate the action, action, action crowd. This book starts with a tense …
Worthy read in the genre. Great characters. She describes the landscape with loving realism.
Terrific story. The universe of Joe Leaphorn of and Jim Chee is very appealing.
I have loved Tony Hillerman’s books for years. His daughter is continuing with his beloved characters. It will. Be interesting to see how her stifle develops.
This is the first time I’ve read a book written by a second author, using the characters and settings from the original author and thoroughly enjoyed the book. Usually, there is a flatness in such books, but Anne Hillerman captures the essence of her Father’s characters and the story comes alive.
I loved Tony Hillerman’s books and this book reminds me of his books. Totally enjoyed it.
Anne writes just as well as her father Tony. I read all their books.
Love Anne Hillerman, also love reading about the progress made by Leaphorn.
So glad she has picked up where her father left off!
Thank you for keeping these characters alive
Life on the Navajo Reservation shows great family ties and love. The law enforcement officers have a great area to cover and protect. The picturesque landscape with gorgeous rock formations add to the storyline. Ann Hillerman is doing a wonderful job of picking up her father’s characters and following their adventures and lives. I really …
I enjoyed the first 80%. It reminded me favorably of her father’s work. The final 20%, a total failure. The plot is illogical, contrived to the point of being forced while the motive is unrealistic and totally unbelievable.
I’ve alwas been a fan of both Hillermans. I just enjoy their stories.
Love the characters and familiar setting. Mystery is great. Enjoy Lt. Leaphorn (retired or not) as part of the story.
Good to see this book. A very good story asked on her father’s navaho police force. Anyone who likes Tony Hillerman’s books will enjoy this one.
Anne Hillerman carries on her father Tony Hillerman’s stories of Leaphorn, Chee and Manuelito for wonderful reads.
Love her books and read all of her father’s books too
Not Tony Hillerman, but still a good read.
