I read the whole Rock Stars Don’t Like series in 3 days and really enjoyed each book. Each book stands out on it own and I wish there were more because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet
Rock Stars Don’t Like Big Knickers (Book 1) – This is Martha and Luke’s story. I liked how the characters were older and that Martha wasn’t afraid to speak up for herself. Luke wasn’t always the greatest and made some very dumb choices, but I never doubted his feelings for Martha. There were times when I had to remind myself that some of the characters weren’t in their mid 20s, but I think that’s because most rock star romances tend to use that age range rather than older like Nikki Ashton has used. This book was a little different to your ‘typical’ rock star romances and focused more on what happens after the band has lived all the crazy stuff and have achieved what they want to achieve
Rock Stars Don’t Like Ugly Bras (Book 2) – This is Amber and Jake’s story. Amber is a new character who we didn’t meet in the first book, but she doesn’t appear out of place and it’s as though she was there all along. As with the first, the lead guy makes dumb decisions and the lead female is left dealing with the pain this causes, but everything eventually comes together and we get a happy ending. I enjoyed the spark between this couple and how Amber pulls him up when needed, but is also there to listen as he opens up about his difficult childhood. Jake also supports Amber as she heals from the past and learns to trust again. This couple are perfect for each other.
Rock Stars Do Like Christmas Stockings (Book 3) – This is Tom and Abbie’s story. I was so excited for this one as Tom is my favourite guy from the band. I love his personality and how he’s always there to defuse a situation. We get to see that whilst he may look confident and cocky on the outside, he has an unexpected phobia whilst also worrying about what he stands to lose once he confesses his true feelings for Abbie. Mixed in is a last minute Christmas party whilst also seeing how the other band members are doing. My only complaint is that it wasn’t long enough lol
Rock Stars Don’t Like Sparkly Thongs (Book 4) – This is the final book and is kind of like a collection of very short stories about the band’s past whilst also showing us what’s happening in the present. It wraps up the series beautifully and whilst this may seem strange, it was my favourite because it shows that no matter what happens, things come together like they’re supposed to and the bad always comes with the good. This one definitely had me snorting with laughter and I would’ve happily read a full length version with more funny stories because it shows how the band came to be the band they are today and that everything they went through made them stronger
Overall, this is a great series. I would recommend reading the books in order even though each one could be enjoyed as a standalone. Each couple’s story is well planned out and gives something different whilst also ensuring the band’s feeling of being one big family isn’t lost. I enjoyed the endless love and support they have for each other. And I love how each member finding a partner adds to the band rather than separating them
It’s like a breath of fresh air opening up one of this author’s books and escaping into her world with her characters.
In this second rockstar book we get to know Jake Hughes much better. He is so much fun but a heck of a lot deeper than we saw in book one, as one would expect I suppose. Amber Mahoney, Luke’s cousin, is introduced in this book and is the love interest for Jake—eventually—well maybe?
Holy moly, when this author creates ‘bad’ characters she really knows how to make douche canoes! What until you meet Amber’s ex! Enough said!
As usual the sense of humour is spot on but also there is a great storyline that is rock solid. I thoroughly enjoy twists and turns in a plot and this one has a couple that makes it even more exciting.
I absolutely loved this book and lucky for me I can go straight onto the next one.
Jake is AMAZING!!!
God these books are so good. Again im kicking myself for not reading these books soon. This book is the second in the series and its Jake Hughes turn. Ive was dying for this book he was so funny in the first book that I needed to know who was goin to grab his attention. It would have to be some woman to do it and Amber is the perfect one.
Amber is brilliant and I luvd her straight. Being the bands PA isn’t an easy job but she luvs it. Even dealing with the joker and womaniser Jake Hughes wasnt easy but she liked the challenge. Taking the PA job with Dirty Riches was just the distraction she needed after her last job. Her life had been turned upside down but things were goin really well and she hoped it stayed that way. Though spending 6 weeks with Jake wasn’t goin to be easy or was it??
Jake what can I say this guy is just brilliant. He might make jokes all the time and luv his woman. But in this you get to see totally different side to him and I luvd it. Jake can be so sweet and caring he hasn’t had an easy life but he never let it get the best of him. He has never done relationships and everyone knows that but spending time with Amber made him see what it could be like.
This book was so good I luvd it from the start and couldn’t put it down. This series is becoming one of me favourites. It makes you laugh so much in parts and then as you sad on other. But the story flows so well all the way through. I would highly recommend this book and I cant wait to get more from the Dirty Riches guys and there woman.
