Wow what a amazing read that was a fast pace read that I wasn’t able to put down and read in one setting. What amazing read that will grab your heart.
4.5 stars for this fabulous, romantic rock star book! I do love this genre and look forward to reading it. The guys in the group are all focussed and determined to take the second chance that is on the horizon for them and now Phoenix is in the mix. Phoenix is such a lovely character! She is big hearted, kind and talented. Axel is just gorgeous, with very similar characteristics to Phoenix and very easy to like.
This is a lovely, easy read which slips into your heart.
Sex, drug and rock and roll is the image of the typical Rock Star or is it? SC Daiko tells a sweet and romantic tale of Axel Wainwright the front man for the band ChiMera and Phoenix Johnson the girl with a musical dream. With beautiful descriptions of the cities the band tours in across Europe and the UK, you can’t help to fall in love along with the characters. Rock Star still has its ups and downs and there is just enough emotional turmoil within the pages that keep you hanging on to see what happens next. 5-stars for Rock Star by SC Daiko.
Phoenix has always wanted to be a singer and she finally has her chance by auditing with the band ChiMera. The job is a dream come true and the bonus is being with the gorgeous British singer Axel Wainwright. Axel and the rest of the boys in the band have a rough road ahead of them after their time in rehab, but Axel seems to have found his muse. The band has rules, rules that Axel has a hard time following. The more time they spend together the deeper they each fall, and Axel has the potential to destroy Phoenix on many levels. Phoenix wants to trust and believe in the man she’s falling for but how can he truly turn his life around and still be a Rock Star?
Rock Star meets girl with a dream….she comes into the lifestyle during a very difficult transition for the band. Not everything is what it looks like from the outside…being a rockstar isn’t all glamorous.
Jealousy, regret, healing, dreams, addictions, loyalty, passion and heartache are just a few things your heart will be out through.
Loved this story! I always love your stories. They are like a bag of potato chips, once you pop you can’t stop. It’s like once I start I can’t stop, I always enjoy reading your books. Even though I can never pick a favorite story.
This book rocked my world what with the stunning characters the electric chemistry and romamce and the sweet sweet build up to the romantic explosion of forever.
Rock Star gave us the sex, drugs, and rock and roll of the rocker lifestyle, but there was also intrigue and angst. Phoenix was the perfect fit to help the ChiMera band complete their tour, and she and Axel had sweetly hot chemistry. It had a realistic feel to it, and I thoroughly enjoyed their whirlwind romance!
Axel And Phoenix’s Love Story Is A Beautiful Journey! This Book Reads Wonderfully From Beginning To End.
Hugely successful British rock band ChiMera, known for their moody atmospheric songs, is auditioning for a back up singer to take the place of the late Ella Wainwright. Five months after Ella’s heroin overdose, the four remaining members have just exited rehab at the Betty Ford Center and plan to resume the European leg of their world tour soon. Unlike Ella, they never used anything harder than coke; they hadn’t discovered the extent of her problem until it was too late. Alex Wainwright – front man, bass player, and Ella’s brother – explains that his sister isn’t replaceable, but she would want them to continue on. She lived for the band, which is her legacy.
Phoenix Johnson, twenty-two, cycles through rehearsing, performing, coaching sessions, and waiting tables – all in the hope of landing a singing job that sticks and helps to pay for her family’s endless bills. Since her father quit his job to care for her mother who struggles with leukemia, Phoenix has worked hard to help keep the family fed. They had already lost all their material possessions, yet love keeps them going. She hopes to be signed and fronting a band within five years, and to be able to ensure her mom gets the medical treatment she requires.
Axel Wainwright, twenty-seven, likes women and they like him. He likes it hard and often, which is easily accomplished when he and his bandmates hit the clubs together. He also sings, writes songs, and runs CM Records with his bandmates and management team. The heartthrob band members happen to be excellent businessmen in addition to talented musicians. They skyrocketed to success four years ago, moving to LA and signing new talent to their label. Axel had a privileged upbringing, but turned out okay thanks to his mom’s down-to-earth ways. His billionaire father holds him responsible for Ella’s death, though, and their estrangement following Ella’s funeral weighs heavily on him.
When Ella auditions with ChiMera, Axel is taken by how perfectly she sings with him. It is like singing with Ella, who had been singing with him for years. His attraction to her is hard to reign in. Although he establishes that the guys are all to keep things professional with her, he knows he will have trouble with that rule himself. He and Ella bond while practicing vocals and she becomes his muse, inspiring him to write new music for the next album. Axel and Phoenix both become very aware of their eroding control and eventually fall hard for one another. They must keep their budding relationship a secret until the tour ends, though, to avoid a blowout with the band for breaking the rules.
Axel and Phoenix’s love story is a beautiful journey. Axel’s grief over his sister and Phoenix’s concern for her mother’s health put them both in a heavy system of mind. They are each vulnerable and easily able empathize with one another. Both hurt and find comfort in being in love. But questions about the longevity of their relationship remain. Would Axel’s addiction issues reemerge? Did Phoenix have enough room in her life to take on a relationship? Would she sacrifice everything for a career? Axel and Phoenix earn a beautiful and satisfying HFN, but it is presumed that more about their HEA is learned in subsequent books in the series.
This story reads beautifully from beginning to end. It is the first in a new series but reads perfectly as a stand-alone. It is well-written. The POV alternates between Axel and Phoenix. The plot is well-developed and the characters wonderfully defined. The supporting characters are great, too, which bodes well for future installments of the series. There are no frustrating situations added simply for dramatic effect, and yet the story builds and maintains the reader’s interest, making the story feel entirely real. I rate this book five stars.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is an amazing book. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Axel and Phoenix. This story is full of emotion and steamy parts. It was a story that had you wanting to know what happens next at every turn. This is a must read.
Rock Star by SC Daiko is quite the rock n roll romance with the feels and steam plus this story deals with sensitive and tough topics in this story- drugs, addiction, death, and loss. Add in rock n roll and sex. This makes for a perfectly rockin first book in a new series.
Axel Wainwright is the front man for the band ChiMera and Phoenix Johnson is the girl whose ChiMera’s new background singer. The chemistry between them is intense and amazing. I don’t want to give any spoilers/story away but the feels are deep here- get prepared for emotional rollercoaster ride of emotions and the story will touch your heart. Ms. Daiko just writes and has an instant hit with her rockstar romance new series. I can’t wait for the next book. The chemistry, the plot, the characters and the feelings are just very good. I instantly was swept away as soon as I started reading and didn’t let up until the book was over.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *********
What an absolutely phenomenal book. Axel and Phoenix are a breath of fresh air. I loved reading about them, the different places they go. This story will touch you. Their journey together is adventurous. The writing and flow of this book is off the charts. I absolutely recommend this book.
Axel Wainwright, the rock god the heartthrob but he’s also a man with demons. I love complex characters and Axel is that and more. The way he is written you really get to know him and all his faults and frailties. Phoenix Johnson is the backup singer nobody wanted to welcome into the band. The attraction was immediate and sizzling very quickly they move into a relationship. The problems are just floating under the surface and distrust is never far away.
Written in dual POV we get to see both sides of their relationship. A book that lives up to the sex drugs and rock and roll mantra. There was plenty of drama and secrets with enough love and sex to keep anyone happy.

Axel is a rock star dealing with his sister’s death. He is auditioning for backup singers for the band’s tour. Phoenix is auditioning for backup singing to help her family situation. The two never expected the chemistry and attraction to flare between them. This is a great rock star romance with all the feels and hot sex. I recommend this book to rock star lovers.
This was a good, fast paced read. Had I known it focused so much on drugs, I may have passed on it but I’m glad I read it. I would recommend it for sure.
This is the first book that I have read by S.C. Daiko and it certainly won’t be the last. I honestly didn’t want to pause reading as I was hooked from the very first chapter….. I loved it!!
Rock Star focuses on Axel Wainwright who is the lead singer of the band ChiMera, and boy did he steal my heart from the word go! He’s everything you imagine a rock star to be, but he has been going through some difficult times and my heart ached for him. All the band members are close – a second family to each other and I loved their friendships and interactions.
Phoenix Johnson meets the band under strained circumstances. I absolutely loved her character – she’s strong, focused, knows what she wants and is determined to achieve her goals. However she also is facing some struggles in her personal life, which adds complications.
I loved that the book is written in dual POVs as I enjoyed getting both Axel and Pheonix’s sides of their story. It is an insta-love romance but a couple of times whilst reading I felt that the declarations between the couple were just a little too soon, which is why I have rated this book 4.5 stars. The issues raised by the author in this story were written and addressed well in my opinion. It’s a definite must read – a book I would recommend without a second thought.
A beautiful emotional rockstar romance between Axel and Phoenix. These two have instant chemistry, but deny their feelings and become friends. Friendship eventually leads to more. But will they both regret everything when their secret is discovered? Can they make it out of their bubble in the real world? Loved this story!! It has everything, drama, angst and hot and steamy scenes that leave you breathless!! Highly recommend.
