This is a beautiful love story, first and foremost, and secondly, a powerful tale of two people finding acquiescence within themselves and with one another. This story was entertaining, engaging with lots of passion, moments of heartbreak; but also was heartwarming and emotional. The story about Axel Wainwright and Phoenix Johnson is scintillating. Axel, also known as ‘British heartthrob’ is tall, handsome, sexy and a swoon worthy young British rock god and bad boy. Axel is the lead guitarist of his band, and he has it all—wealth and fame; but Axel and his band members had the typical cravings of sex, drugs, women, and rock & roll. Even though the band has had great success, it has severely damaged Axel’s life. When tragedy hits close to home, this serves as a wake-up call about his life. Due to heavy use of drugs, all the band members had to go to rehab. When auditioning for a backup singer, Phoenix is flabbergasted to get the opportunity to sing as a backup singer with Axel and the group. Since Phoenix is an outsider, the band voted to treat Phoenix as their sister—meaning hands off! But it seems as if Axel has other plans. Phoenix tries to keep her relationship with Axel completely professional, despite their sizzling chemistry. When Axel pushes Phoenix too far and she leaves, Axel realizes that he may have lost the best things that ever happened to him. Is their attraction worth the possibility of being burned and losing her position as a backup singer? SC Daiko shares the story of two people who evolve into their entire potential of who they are. SC Daiko manages to weave plotlines centered on romantic ideas with artfully developed main characters. The storyline is fluid, and it will pique your interest.
Rock star romance done right, this steamy/sweet read flies by. It pairs a recovering addict mourning the loss of his sister (definite trigger warnings here) and the replacement backup singer for the band, who is young and excited for her chance to step into the spotlight. It’s perhaps a little too insta-love for my taste and lacks any major tension between these two until the final third of the book but the story is complex and interesting, the relationship has depth and the emotional connection is definitely there.
The story follows Phoenix as she joins a rock band after the loss of their backup singer, who also happened to be the sister of lead singer, Axel. She’s supporting her parents and can’t afford to mess up this opportunity, but immediate chemistry with Axel puts everything in jeopardy. He’s lived that rock star lifestyle for years and only started cleaning up his act (at least with the drugs) after his sister’s death. Neither one can really afford to make any mistakes at the moment, but that doesn’t stop their feelings for each other from building from attraction to more.
After reading Brash, Daiko’s last book, I was hooked on her writing. She handles complex characters very well, and I was interested to see her take on the popular rock star romance trope. This definitely didn’t disappoint; while Axel has enjoyed the benefits of being a rock star in the past, things are different now that’s he’s sober and Phoenix comes along at just the right time. He’s really sweet with her, caring yet still a large personality. Phoenix was easy to like, and loved seeing these two get together. I will admit that with such an angsty backstory, I was surprised by how smoothly things fell into place for these two. But it turns out that Daiko was just saving all the drama for the end. Overall, it’s certainly worth a read and I look forward to more from this series.

Alex Wainwright aka “the British heartthrob” is the lead singer of the band ChiMera. The whole band is fresh out of rehab. Wanting to start up their tour again, they start holding auditions for a new backup singer. That’s where Phoenix Johnson comes into to picture. Can this band of hot talented males stay professional with Phoenix on board? They agreed to treat her like a little sister but Axel might have an issue holding true to his word. This is a easy/fast paced book about the rock star life. A quick enjoyable read with a few serious topics woven in. If you like insta-love rockers then this would be for you. Told in dual POV.
I have read a few rock star stories but never got such a complete understanding of what a tour involves and how draining performing before large audiences is both on those putting on the show but also on the support staff and bank accounts used! No wonder the phrase ‘sex, drugs and rock star’ is used so often! Diako’s story gives a heartbreaking understanding of the life. Axel Wainwright, the frontman for the band ChiMera, has lost his beloved sister and backup singer to a drug overdose. Now after their time in recovery, this band must find a substitute for their female harmonizer and prepare for the planned tour of Europe. They chose Phoenix Johnson who really needs a good-paying job as both parents are without work as they have used up all their resources fighting her mother’s leukemia. What develops is both fun and heartbreaking as Axel lays down the rules but then secretly breaks them explaining that Phoenix is his muse for writing not-so-depressive songs for their next album. I loved his nickname for her: ‘firebird’. But he breaks her heart when he uses again! This book will top the charts when it releases!
I think that this was an awesome trope for SC Daiko to jump into. Axel and Phoenix’s connection could be felt far beyond the music.
A new genre for SC Daiko and she Rocked It! Anything this author writes is amazing! 1- Click all the way!
You will get so much in Rock Star. Rock Gods, Sex, Drugs, Love, Depression… did I mention steamy sex. SC Daiko can write the hell out of steamy sex scenes. She will make you fall in love with the characters. Her books will make you want to read it all in one sitting, no breaks. I fell in love with Axel and Phoenix. They both were going through so many trials. I was routing for them the whole way. I love the HEA!

SC Daiko never disappoints!!
How is it possible that SC Daiko can write so many different subgenres and still excell at every one? Rock Star is a rockstar romance (shocker). But Daiko digs deep and discusses the hard-to-handle topic of drugs and addiction. Our hero, Axel, is a recovering cocaine addict who is also the lead singer of the band ChiMera. After his sister died of an overdose, he and the band decided to get clean. When they decide to resume their tour they have to find a new backup singer. In comes Phoenix. Strong and resilient like her name sake, it didn’t take long for Axel to fall. But touring comes with a lot of pressure and it’s a struggle for him not to fall back on old habits.
Daiko allows us a glimpse into the life of a rock star and the journey Axel takes to become a better man. I highly, highly recommend Rock Star… or any other SC Daiko book. She never fails in giving us heat, passion, and inspiration to overcome your own demons.
This is the story of Axel and Phoenix . Wow what a ride . I was impressed with the locations and research that must have went into this book . Locations and equipment that is mentioned along with real rock stars and groups are amazing . Axel is sexy and broken all rolled into a character that you can’t help but love . Phoenix is working so hard to support her family while her Mom gets treated for cancer .
What a great story with the most beautiful descriptions of cities and feelings from Axel and Phoenix as they hold nothing back with the instant attraction with just a look. We get passion, secrets and regrets and most of all family in all the right ways always first.
This was exceptionally written and I loved all the characters they played a big part and being able to have it all was everything.
Rockstar proved to be a most enjoyable read. The elegant writing produced vibrant visuals and I couldn’t help but fall in love with the characters. Passion, heartache, family love – this story had it all. Can’t wait to read more from this series.
Once again, Siobhan wrote an amazing book. I was rooting for Axel and Phoenix from the start. Tragedy brought them together, but their love for music eventually led them to each other. Sparks flew from the very beginning. He wanted her, but she didn’t want to be another notch on his belt… another must read book by an awesome author.
I loved this book. This powerfully moving story offers up plenty of emotions, drama, painful baggage, secrets and suspense. I thought the chemistry and attraction between Axel and Phoenix was intense and steamy. I really liked these two as a couple and I enjoyed seeing their relationship grow and their story unfold. This is a quick and easy read that will tug on your heartstrings and have you swooning.

Will she get burned by the bad boy rocker
ROCK STAR by SC Daiko is a wonderful story about Axel an Phoenix. The story took you on a nice journey with interesting characters that had depth and good backstories. Even the supporting characters were good and added to the story while moving it along. I fell in love with Phoenix, yes she is a woman and no I am not gay, as she her character is just phenomenal with her strength, independence and drive. She is not willing to just accept and instead questions herself and those around her, including Axel. This leads to him getting him questioning some things also and wanting to make changes to be with the woman he loves. These two had great chemistry together and a lot of twists in their story.
I really enjoyed this entertaining story that is filled with some drama, passion, emotions, sexiness and of course a wonderful HEA between the Bad Boy British Rockstar and the beautiful, smart and self-confident back-up singer who somehow come together and beat the odds
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
4 stars for Rockstar by S.C. Daiko. This is my first book from this author and I am looking forward to reading more. Axel is the lead singer of ChiMera and is a Rockstar in everyway. He recently suffered a great lost. Phoenix tries out to be the bands new backup singer. She needs this and not just for herself but for her sick mother. She is instantly attracted to Axel but knows better to get involved with the playboy recovering addict. They have a friendship of sorts. The relationship develops and then everything changes. However, the past never really stays in the past. This was a great Rockstar romance with everything that makes a story great. I loved everything about these character and their story.
Phoenix gets the job of a lifetime singing with world famous rock band ChiMera. It also comes at a time when she really needs it to support her family in a difficult situation. However the circumstances of her new job are laced in tragedy and nobody feels that more than lead singer of the band, Axel.
Phoenix was just supposed to be a new member of the band. Nothing more. However Axel was instantly attracted to Phoenix and for the first time in a while he felt excited about music again. His struggle with his sobriety continues though. Can Axel and Phoenix brave the storm together and come out the other side? There are a lot of emotions in this book it will hit you in the feels and as it deals with addiction it is hard hitting in places. A very worthwhile read and I highly recommend it.
There’s a little spark of something between Axel and Phoenix right from the start. I love Phoenix and her shyness. She’s sweet. And Alex and the guys are so hurt and damaged from what they’ve been through.
I loved this book and these characters. I’m honestly hoping for more books, but the rest of the guys. We’ll see. Phoenix and Axel are epic. They play so well off of each other and mesh so well. This book has some tear jerker moments in it. It also has talk about drug use so if that’s a trigger, be warned. It’s a super sweet and very sexy read. I loved everything about these guys and Axel’s, Firebird.
