I found my stillness, my space between breaths, when I was a kid. The answer is simple. If it hurts, I pour music on it. After years of hard work, it’s finally happening. Tragic has a number one album and we’ve gone from being discussed as one hit wonders to hearing words like meteoric mentioned alongside our name. With two tours planned and another album on its way, we have a lot to look forward … to look forward to. Playing in a different city every night, the shimmer and roar of the crowd, after parties and endless women.
My lifelong dream is in the palm of my hand until one phone call leaves everything hanging in the balance.

I need a drink after that ending! Scratch that…I need lots of drinks! I have no idea how I’m going to survive until the next book! Shade….I am FREAKING MINDBLOWN! Never even imagined it!!! Not a single inkling! WTH!!!! WOW!!!
First Axton is everything I thought he would be! Mr hottie…broody rockstar has his world turned upside down overnight; in more ways than one! He thinks he has everything worked out the way it needs to be so he can continue down his path or rock stardom he was on…but he hadn’t planned on her!
I didn’t want to put this book down, I love rockstar romances and Shade ticked off all the boxes with this one!
What a hell of Cliffhanger!!!! Well I didnt want to end this way. This rockstar romance was everything that I want. The journey of upcoming rocker who had no clue what come ahead. A surprise baby? The story was centered around the baby was shocking and a new whole world. Axton Todd was the grumpy cat! Naomi, the beautiful nanny… definetely a tough lady to mess around.. This slow burn romance was sizzling.. it wasnt hot hunky love but the feelings were there.. I have enjoyed it and looking forward to the next book.
This book was AMAZING! Musician romance is in my top five favorite romance sub-genres but this one was written by S.M. Shade so I would have given this one a try for that reason alone. Everything I’ve ever read by her has hooked me and had me thoroughly impressed. And once again, this book shows why she’s becoming a must read author for me.
This story had so much I loved about it. First was a broody hero with secrets in his past that I look forward to uncovering. Some of them were clearly heartbreaking but keys to why he is the way he is now. Axton was a real jerk in the beginning. But it’s clear he’s protecting himself. He shows these flashes of another side to him and it draws you in. It makes you want more.
Then there was the sweet, nurturing leading lady. Naomi was sassy and strong but also kind and seems to have a good heart. But she’s also got secrets of her own.
This book has some surprising moments and a downright jaw dropping ending. I cannot wait for book two.
I don’t even know what to say about this book. I really loved it. Don’t get me wrong at times I wanted to punch Axton in the face, but this book is well written and has some excellent twists and turns. I got near the end and kept wondering how S.M Shade was going to wrap it up. I mean given that it says it is book one I should have realized it was a possibility but I was not prepared for the amazing twist and cliffhanger. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone I’m not going to say anymore. I highly recommend this book! Happy Reading!!
Axton Todd is the lead singer in the up and coming band Tragic and just as his band is beginning to get the recognition they deserve his life is turned upside down when he discovers that he has a son and the mother has passed away. Now Axton must find someone to help care for Caden as he has tours coming up that he has worked so hard for and doesn’t want to give up.
Naomi Wells is becoming a nanny to have some consistency in her life yet she has no idea what she is getting into when she is forced to sign a NDA before even meeting her potential employer. Yet Naomi is ready to do what it takes to take care of Caden in spite of how Axton treats her.
Soon Naomi finds herself a target of the media and as Axton and Naomi struggle with how they feel about each other will they have enough trust between them to get through it all?
OMG!!!!! I feel like I have just been on a journey that left me in a state of awe and absolute frustration that I don’t have the second book in my hands now!!! I have read almost every book by this author and this one has definitely moved itself up to the top and I just can’t say enough as my jaw is still on the floor.
Axton’s life has turned upside down with learning about Caden and you can tell he is absolutely petrified of him at the beginning of the book and due to his own past he is scared as he doesn’t feel like he had a good role model growing up. I hated how he was treating both Caden and Naomi at the beginning of the book as he was so afraid and was pushing them away. I liked when Axton finally got it and understood what his role was and that he had to be a part of Caden’s life.
I thought Naomi was a great character and I loved how dedicated she was to Caden. She loved that boy and was going to help do everything in her power to make him safe and loved. I was definitely worried when she began to get the letters and I had a guess on who was behind it but now I have no idea if I was right or not but I am thinking I’m wrong!
I loved when things began to heat up between Naomi and Axton as I thought they were such a great pair who really cared about each other. I loved Naomi’s friendship with Axton’s sister Danielle and how close they became.
So the end was totally intense and I was freaking out and for that matter I still am!! I was glad that Naomi was ok as I thought she would be taken. Then the end of the book came and my whole world flipped upside down and I still haven’t recovered!!! What kind of cliffhanger leaves me like that???
OMG – I hope the author is sitting at home finishing the next book as I need it now!!!
Loved it!!! Pretty sure I already did a review but its okay I’ll do another one! The entire time I was hooked and it was just getting better and better as I kept reading but omg that ending! That ending killed me! Idk how the hell I’m gonna wait until February!
This book is absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!! S.M. Shade is an amazingly talented author!!!!! Five stars just isn’t enough!!!! I need the other book, like right now, that’s cliffhanger has me shook to the core!!!!
Holy Hotness! If the cover doesn’t get your ovaries swooning the story will! This is an easy read, with strong characters and an unexpected twist just to get you drooling for the next book! I loved every turn this book took, just as the story evens out and starts to slow down the tempo picks up pace and BAM! Action and feeling explosion!
**Please note, I was given an ARC for each of these books for an honest review of them. These reviews are my own thoughts and feelings and I have had no financial compensation to provide these reviews to you**
It has been several days since I’ve read this book and I still have a tiny book hangover. This book hit me so hard. I was going along, enjoying the book until the last few chapters..then BAM! Cliffhanger (which I knew there would be one) and shock (which took me completely by surprise). I’m hoping to get through this review with no spoilers, so if something doesn’t make sense…go read the book lol
Axton is an up and coming rock god who finds out a professional sex worker he was with the year previous gave birth to his son, Caden, and then passed away. He gets the paperwork in order, all with a sense of detachment, then hires a nanny, Naomi, to ensure that his son is taken care of while they are on tour, Naomi is a former school teacher who wanted to step away from teaching but still works with kids. She gets the job because a friend of hers referred her for it.
Naomi won’t take Axton’s stuff. She’s a strong woman and doesn’t let Axton walk all over her. Additionally, she does her best to make sure Axton becomes a true dad to Caden. That takes a bit as Axton has his own demons to work through that involve his own father. They deal with threats to Naomi, an attempted assault by another rock star, and other issues that crop up. Then…the cliffhanger and shock.
If you have read SM’s Violent Circle series and expect this book to be as humorous as that series, you will be disappointed. Not that I didn’t get a chuckle or two out of the book, but the story just doesn’t lend itself to a humorous plot line. If you are looking for a book with some angst and some drama, this could be the book for you.
Now I ask the question that most authors either love or loathe…when will book 2 be out??
Axton is the lead singer of the band Tragic that is just taking off. A phone call will change his life forever. He has a ten month old son named Caden. He hires Naomi to be a live-in nanny and to go on tour with the band. Axton doesn’t want his life to change but he can’t abandon his responsibility to his son. There is a slow burn attraction between Axton and Naomi going on. Naomi stands up to Axton and puts him in his place about Caden and how he is doing as a father. The cliffhanger ending is torture! I need the next book NOW.
Well, she’s done it again but I shouldn’t expect anything less. Axton is a jerk and Naomi is a sweetheart. That cliffhanger is the last thing that I expected and I can’t wait until the next book.
I know rockstars have egos, but I really wanted to slap Axton. All those around him said he wasn’t usually that bad. And therefore, I really wanted to know his story. I couldn’t understand why Naomi was more of a parent figure to Caden than Axton. I think I fell in love more with Caden than Axton or Naomi. TBH, alphas aren’t my thing, but I could see glimpses of good in Axton. Caden made it easy for everyone to fall in love with him and slowly he and Naomi helped Axton’s armor to fall…and then…boom! What was that? Need more!
Oh MY… What the ACTUAL F… What a wild ride this one is! Talk about a duet! I knew going in I was in for it, this author finds a way to move my soul with her words, I’ve laughed with her, cried with her, this time I just don’t even… SO GOOD SHOULD BE ON EVERYONE’S LIST is under selling it. The emotions, the action, the laughs, Ax, Naomi and Hatch bring us on such a wild ride, new revelations around every corner. Gotta say, didn’t immediately like Ax to start off, he grew on me much like he did with Naomi, but that fierce chick I loved from the start. And how could anyone not love Caden (aka Hatch), the perfect little bright spot in the raging storm that the band barrels into. I can’t wait for more words! I’ll be stalking this author for the conclusion of this beautifully written duet!
Rock Star, Interrupted, isn’t what I was expecting of a rock star book. It was so much more. The blurb doesn’t reveal much, but oh, boy! And that ending?!?! Come on!!
Axton, an up and coming musician with the whole world at his feet. He’s a perfect a-hole alpha. But, Naomi isn’t one to stand down and do as she is told.
“Those eyes are a mirror of mine, just unmarked by an innocence that crushes my heart.”
-Stina, Book Haven Book Blog.
HOLY HELL BATMAN!!!!!! What a frickin ending to a stand out novel by Shade!! My jaw hit the floor and I yelled NO SHIT several times!! I really think she has hit her groove and has written her best work to date! I know I have said that in the past, which just goes to show how she is continually upping her game, setting higher standards and wowing us with her amazing talent.
Axton is the quintessential alphahole! He’s the kind of guy you warn your friends to stay away from and want to knee in the balls. Thankfully he does make up for his behavior and worms his way into your heart. I love that Shade went in a different direction with Axton than her usual lovable from the start characters. Just another example of her showcasing her talent.
Naomi is a mystery to me that I can not wait to solve in book 2!!
I need book 2 right NOW!! I can’t be left hanging onto the edge of my seat for too long.
An addicting story with great characters
Book 1 of the Tragic Duet, I’ve been a fan of this author for a while now, and rockstar romance is one of my favorite genres, so when I heard about this new book, it was a no brainer to move it to the top of my TBR pile.
We know right away that Axton has issues with his father, so when his inner a-hole comes out when he finds out he has a child of his own, it was clear that his behavior was to mask his fears. Naomi is calm and practical, and I loved how she was more than willing to put Axton and his rockstar buddies in their place when needed. I was touched by how concerned she is for Caden and his relationship with Axton, and whether Axton will be willing or even able to bond with his son. There’s plenty of heat between the two, but this is no flower laden path to romance: there are a lot of ups and downs in their relationship, as Axton‘s a-hole side shows more than once, plus the employer/employee relationship adds concerns for each of them.
While Naomi and Axton hold the majority of the stage, there are some great secondary characters to help round out the story, Axton’s sister, Dani (who had a nice little subplot), plus up and coming musician, Patrick, among them. Then, of course, there’s Caden: I thought the author did a great job of creating an age appropriate character for him, and I laughed in recognition at a couple of behaviors.
This was an engaging story, and not only did I not expect the big turn the plot took near the end, the twist on that turn came completely out of the blue and made for one heck of a cliffhanger. It certainly explained a few things, but the possibility had never even crossed my mind, so, well done, lol.
An addicting story with great characters and that cliffhanger that had me looking at some events in a new light, I can’t wait for the conclusion to this duet, and the explanations I’m craving. 4.5 stars

This was not what I had expected after I read the blurp and teasers for Shade’s newest book. But then again I never can tell what I’m going to get when it comes to her.
Axton and Naomi were both two people that were different as night and day. Axton is a complete asshole, and Naomi was just there for the job that he felt he wasn’t capable of doing himself.
This book was definitely different from the others of Shade’s that I have read. I was expecting the moments of the female and male characters going to to toe at times. And then the moments where they would come together and the chemistry is off the charts. I couldn’t put this book down till I was at the end. And when the cliffhanger came, that I kind of suspected was coming, I was still shocked. Talk about knowing how to ring the readers in. The way that the cliffhanger was done I found myself getting antsy needing to conclusion to this duet right now. I will say that when the conclusion does come I probably won’t see what is coming from a mile away, if the second half is anything like the first part.
S.M. Shade is trying to kill me with that ending. HOLY FORKING SHIRT! Like, I cannot even with this ending. I need the next book so badly! I must know what happens with Axton and Naomi and I must know now! *insert dying emoji face here* I’m a sucker for rockstar romances and I flipping loved this book!
I love me some broken and broody characters and Axton was that and more. He’s our hero and rockstar in the story. The man clearly has issues and demons he’s fighting. Add to that a newly found baby he’s now to care for. Mot only does he have no clue how t care for a baby, but with his popularity on the rise there’s no time for him to even try. Cue Naomi the nanny.
I freaking loved Naomi! The woman is amazing. She’s so great with Axton’s son Caden and you can tell she truly cares about the baby boy. And although she’s caring and nurturing, she’s not a pushover and isn’t afraid to set Axton in his place. Of course the chemistry and sexual tension between the two is intense! I was practically salivating for them to get together.
Seriously, READ THIS STORY!! Just buckle up for that ending because OH. MY. GOD. 5 stars!
Rockstar Interrupted is the first part to the Tragic Duet and this story will draw you in with the erratic beat as Axton’s life is thrown into chaos with an unexpected arrival. As changes are coming hard and fast Axton is confronted with emotions he doesn’t like to deal with. Naomi is fiesty and doesn’t hold back and the broody rockstar is torn between loving and hating this new addition to his world. As danger lurks both in reality and in his nightmares Axton does everything to protect himself and those around him. A story that will have your pulse racing, your skin on fire and your heart pounding out of your chest. As a crescendo of emotions hits, you will be left with your heart in your throat, the melody no longer soothing and questioning just what is happening. I will be counting down the days until I have the conclusion as right now I have the chorus but no verse to complete this song of love and happiness.
Rock Star, Interrupted was a great 5+ star read and book one in the Tragic Duet series.
All I can say is, you are killing me S.M. Shade, how can you end it like that. Now I’m impatiently waiting for the next book in the series. I have to say this is one of the best rock star reads I have had in my hands in awhile, right from the start I was pulled right in.
We meet Axton, who is the lead singer of a band that are starting to hit it big. While on a break before touring he gets some very interesting news, he has a son. He is beyond shocked and has no idea what he’s going to do. When his sister jokingly mentions a nanny he jumps on the idea, it’s perfect.
Naomi is the nanny that Axton hires. She is excited for the opportunity, she loves working with children and is looking forward to something different. And when she finds out who she will be working for she gets even more excited. When she first meets Axton he is an absolute jerk and very short with her but she gives it right back to him and I loved it.
There is so much more to this great read. We meet Dani, Axton’s sister and the rest of the band. All of the secondary characters were great. There are some surprises and a huge twist at the end that will leave you in shock and wanting more. I’m still reeling from the scary turn of events. I can’t wait for the next book in this duet. This is my first read from this author and I highly suggest 1-clicking this great read, you will love it. I am also going to go and check out some more from the author as well.
