I found my stillness, my space between breaths, when I was a kid. The answer is simple. If it hurts, I pour music on it. After years of hard work, it’s finally happening. Tragic has a number one album and we’ve gone from being discussed as one hit wonders to hearing words like meteoric mentioned alongside our name. With two tours planned and another album on its way, we have a lot to look forward … to look forward to. Playing in a different city every night, the shimmer and roar of the crowd, after parties and endless women.
My lifelong dream is in the palm of my hand until one phone call leaves everything hanging in the balance.

Loved!
Sexy, talented rockstar, Axton Todd, cocky, self centered, with the voice and looks of a fallen angel, is on his way up in the world of rock. His love of the music that soothes his soul and helps to silence his dark thoughts is everything he needs. He’s enjoying the ride to the top along with the benefits that come with it. He’s got it all, living his dream when he gets the shock of his life…he has a baby….surprise!
Enter Naomi Wells, former teacher who needs to sign a NDA just to get an interview with an unknown person, who obviously loves their privacy, for a nanny position. Curious? Yeah, you guessed it, Axton needs someone to do what he can’t, be there for his newly discovered son and she’s totally up for the challenge.
Axton comes off like the uncaring, arrogant rockstar he is and Naomi is over his attitude towards his son and her. Getting off on the wrong foot? You haven’t seen nothing yet, with this enemies to lovers romance. It’s much more than the angry words, heated looks, steamy scenes and ‘on the road’ excitement. Suspense builds as mysterious threats begin to surface after Axton, Naomi and sweet baby Caden are photographed together and the vultures begin circling. Who is making these threats? Well, that’s the question! Events come to a head…the thought on my mind as I whipped through the last pages…WTH is THIS twist at the end of of the last chapter…huh?
Now I’m going to be in a book hangover limbo for a long while as I and I’m sure, many others will be marking their calendars for the last part of this yummy duet. Another new to me author that had me riveted from front to back of Rockstar Interrupted. I wonder if she’s got anything else I can read while I wait?
So… that just happened! I ended the book with my heart pounding so hard. Axton and Naomi are seriously hot…. and then cold… and then hot again. Ugh! I love them! And Caden is just so freaking cute! I am waiting on pins and needles to get the next book…. that ending! Left me asking so many questions! Such a great read. And it was with an ending that I didn’t see coming at all!
Omg this book!!! Seriously I could not put it down at all and it blew my mind away. We have a hot Rockstar that is a complete and utter jerk, Axton. He finds out that he has a kid and in his head his Rockstar life is just starting to take off and this kid threatens everything. Axton, then hires a live in Nanny, Naomi who is amazing with the baby and everyone around her. These two butt heads constantly but fight an attraction for each other so hard. Naomi is a wonderful character, she is stubborn, sweet, has secrets of her own, and doesn’t take anything off Ax. I loved the banter between these two and their push and pull. The side characters were beyond amazing as well but that ending…. holy smokes it had me stunned and wanting, no craving more.
Buckle up and brace yourself because the ending of Rock Star, Interrupted is a doozy! WHOA! I know to always expect some messed up endings when it comes to duets- the cliffhangers are always killer- but this one?!!? I can’t EVEN! Why S.M. Shade had to leave me hanging like this is seriously messing with my head right now and if I didn’t have a house full of people I would probably throw my iPad across the room and cry **pouting**. That being said, I cannot WAIT for the conclusion to Naomi and Axton’s story (I hope it is coming VERY soon).
Rock Star Interrupted is a rock star romance and introduces us to the broody Axton and his new nanny, Naomi. Axton is a man with demons. We don’t know exactly what demons he’s facing as we are only shown breadcrumbs of his past, but his demeanor, attitude, and horrible nightmares tell us that something is seriously wrong. Not only that, Axton is facing a new dilema in his life- a one year old baby boy that he never knew existed. How can he possibly take care of a child, work on his music (he’s an up and coming rock star who is quickly gaining popularity), and go on tour? Simple. Hire a nanny. That’s where Naomi comes in.
Naomi enjoys working with children so when she lands a job for a musician her life finally gains a semblance of control. However, working for Axton isn’t easy and he’s pretty standoffish and has a serious chip on his shoulder. But she makes do with what she has and enjoys taking care of Caden, his son.
This is a romance though, so will spark fly between a musician and his nanny? If you want to know the answer then you’ll have to read Rock Star, Interrupted! Just make sure you know that there is an EPIC TWIST at the end that will leave you begging for answers!
Ahhhhhh!
I am still having a whole meltdown even days later. I tried to compose myself, be an adult about this, but I can’t.
I wanna yell so badly, but it won’t do me any good!
This was an amazing storyline, with our nanny who is not putting up with the nonsense, and our rockstar, who initially, is just nonsense.
The ending left me reeling, I never saw a lot of things coming.
I know I’ll just be sitting here all impatiently for the conclusion.
Rating: Seriously. Read this.
Axton aka Ax is the lead singer for Tragic that is just taking off. One month before he is set to go on tour he finds out that he has a son and the mother has passed away so he will now have sole custody. He can’t back out of his tour or his obligations as a dad so he hires a nanny to live with him and tour with him so he can be around his son. Naomi his hired by an agency and immediately falls in love with Caden . . . but Ax not so much.
I want to start by saying that I loved Naomi. I loved how she doesn’t take Ax’s BS and constantly mouths off to him. I loved how much she loves and does for Caden. Caden is the cutest thing ever – his uh-oh stage is super cute. I remember when my son went through that stage. Ax is a douche. I don’t like him and I don’t understand him. It is clear that he has some deep issues but I also felt that we never got to know him. There wasn’t much development to him. Nor was there any development that we got to see of his relationship with Caden and Naomi. It was kind of disappointing. But Naomi and Caden made this book for me. Then we have that cliffy. I can’t wait to see where this goes.
Love love love this. I couldn’t put this book down from the minute I recieved it. Needed book two straight away as I needed to know how the story went
This is the first book in the Tragic Duet series, and the story of Axton, and Naomi. Axton is finally living his dream, he is successful, and looking forward to the future. But when Axton’s life changes overnight, he ends up turning to Naomi. This was an great read, the characters are well written, and the story captivated me. This was emotional, raw, gripping, dramatic, intense, and sexy, and the end was such a twist. I can’t wait to read book 2. I highly recommend this book!
Wow! This was a wild ride. From a jerk hero, an adorable baby, a sweet and caring heroine to a bomb that blew my mind this book kept me hooked. I loved Ax. Even when he was a jerk I was drawn to his character and wanted to know everything. The heroine Naomi was sting and I love that she didn’t take any crap. That ending was jaw dropping. I’m so glad I waited to read these back to back because it was a killer cliffhanger. I can’t wait to see what happens next and pray these characters get a HEA. 5 stars #2OCCJD
Rock Star, Interrupted was one of the BEST books I read last year. Hands down. I don’t normally like rock star romances, but S.M. Shade is such a phenomenal writer and I couldn’t help but love Axton. Yes, he was a jerk at times, but there’s so many more layers to his personality and I loved peeling them back as I read. And baby Hatch, he totally stole the show. I just wanted to cuddle him the whole book. To say that I’m DYING for Rock Star, Unbroken is an understatement.
Holy s***!…what an intense ending!!
Don’t worry, I’m not going to elaborate on that statement. You NEED to read this book to find out for yourself.
Ax is a jaded up and coming rockstar that is thrown a situation that he never saw coming. He is quickly forced to make the best of something he never imagined he would ever have to deal with, which brings Naomi into his life. Reluctantly they start to get to know each other, and things go from cold to hot to cold to hot again.
You will get frustrated one second, then you’ll swoon the next in this epic roller coaster story about life, love, and tough decisions. I absolutely loved this book, but be warned— the cliffhanger will simultaneously break your heart, twist your gut, and completely blow your mind!
I need more, and I can’t wait to see how this story concludes in the second half of this amazing duet!!
I always love a good rockstar romance and this one is phenomenal.
I loved Axton, he’s everything you’d expect in a rockstar and more. I adored Caden and all of his baby cuteness. I also really liked Naomi and her big heart and sassy attitude. Their story is raw, real and an emotional roller coaster that pulls at all of your heartstrings. The ending … OMG! What a surprise. Absolutely mind blowing. I can’t wait to read book 2.
This is my first book by S.M. Shade and it won’t be my last. Obviously I’ll be reading the second book in this duet as soon as it hits my kindle, but I’m really looking forward to reading her back catalogue too.
I honestly could not put my kindle down. The author grabbed my attention from the very first page and will have it until I have read the conclusion to this amazing story. It’s no secret that Rock Star romances are my Kryptonite and this story is now up there amongst my favourites. I’m hoping that Rock Star, Unbroken keeps me just as enthralled…. I have a feeling it will!
Axton Todd is broody and arrogant but then underneath his harsh exterior is a man who has secrets and a past that haunts him. He’s sexy and has this presence on and off the stage that would make any woman want him. Naomi comes in to his life at a time when things are never going to be the same for him. I instantly warmed to her, I loved her sparky nature and how well she got on with everybody she meets. The attraction and sexual tension between Axton and Naomi was evident from the moment they met and I was rooting for them to get together from the very beginning. I thought as the story progressed that they were going to be perfect for each other – time will tell if I am correct and that can happen.
I don’t shy away from cliff-hanger endings as long as I don’t have long to wait for the next book to come along and I think I’ve timed reading Rock Star, Interrupted just right as the next book is coming out at the end of this month. My mind is buzzing with all the questions that I need answers to and I cannot wait to get them. I am desperate to find out what happens next!
Wow! I couldn’t put the book down! The buildup between Naomi and Axton was intense. I love stories like this. While I was desperate to get more info about all these secrets those to have, it really made the story better. That ending was crazy! I don’t know how I’m going to be able to wait for Book 2! Talk about a cliffhanger!
I wrote this review based on an advance reading copy that the publisher sent me.
Wow! Prepare yourself readers because this book ends in one hell of a cliffhanger. Since it’s the first book in a duet that’s to be expected, but this is one that I DID NOT see coming. Crazy! S.M. Shade certainly left me hanging there at the end, and all I could do was sit and cuss and pout. Regardless, I am excited and counting down for the conclusion to Axton & Naomi’s story.
Rock Star, Interrupted is a story that introduces us to Axton and his nanny, Naomi. Axton is broody, complicated and obviously haunted by his past. We are not given the specifics, but his attitude and recurring dreams tell us that something is definitely wrong. Then just when he and his band Tragic are hitting is big, his life is turned upside down. A big bombshell is dropped, informing him that he has a one year old son that he never knew existed. He never wanted kids and now suddenly has one. How is he supposed to take care of a child, make music and go on tour? The decision is an easy one. Hire a nanny, and this is where Naomi comes in.
Naomi loves children, so she jumps at the chance to become a caregiver to Caden. Although working for Axton doesn’t prove to be easy. His whole demeanor should have her running the other way, but she digs her heels in and does the best that she can. She may be caring and loving, but she is not a pushover. She gives just as good as she gets. And the sizzling chemistry and sexual tension between these two is simply off the charts. I was just dying for these two to get together, but will they? You will have to tune in to find out.
Rock star romance is a weakness of mine, and this one certainly checked all the marks for me. The author will take you on an emotional journey full of angst, drama, romance and suspense. Rock Star, Interrupted was wonderfully written and filled to the brim with everything that I love. The characters were endearing, and the plot well developed. Just keep in mind, it ends with an epic revelation that will leave you begging for answers.
This is the first book I’ve read by S.M. Shade & it won’t be the last. This book has it all.
I loved this book and totally consumed it in one day. I love the chemistry and back and forth between Axton & Naomi.
This ends with an epic cliffhanger and I can hardly wait for the next book!
Is there anything better than a tortured rockstar and then you throw in a secret baby too and I’m in book nirvana. Axton as a character was one who was slow to grow on me but when he did I became a fan. He doesn’t deal with his surprise well but then you have to put yourself in his shoes and ask what would you do. The author did a good job showing Axton’s conflict between his new responsibilities and a life he doesn’t want to change. Naomi is the nanny hired to help him out and she was a good addition to the story. A sweet caring woman but she was no pushover which I liked, weak female characters in books no longer appeal to me so I was happy with her development. Just when I think everything is going well for this fledgling family the book ends and on an absolute doozy of a cliffhanger. Now I’m anxiously waiting on book two.
3.5 stars
S.M. Shade takes us on an emotional rollercoaster ride with the first book in the Tragic Duet. We meet Axton. He’s in a band and they’re just getting popular with their own record deal. His life gets turned upside down when he finds out he has a son. Axton isn’t planning on changing his life for a baby, so he hires a nanny. With that settled, he can go on with his rock star life can’t he?!?
Naomi needs the money and is happy to change her job. Even though she loved teaching, this seems more up her alley. She’s determined to be there for this baby and hopes that Axton will connect with him as well. I have to say that was my favorite part of the story. I loved the moments with the baby and seeing Axton getting close to him!
Axton has his own demons and it’s clear from the start something terrible happened. We don’t get to know everything, but only get little glimpses. I loved Axton. He’s a darker character, but as we get to know him I started loving him. The moments he starts opening up to his son are so precious and left a smile on my face.
This book is so much more than I expected, but I missed just a little bit of a connection with the characters at times. Even though we get some glimpses, at times I felt like I was missing information. I needed just a little more of the characters together and less of them on the road. I know it’s a duet, but this felt a bit rushed at times.
I did really enjoy the suspense near the end and that ending left my head spinning! How is this all going to work out?!? I need the second book now!! And on top of Naomi and Axton, I really did enjoy the band members and Axton’s sister. I wouldn’t mind seeing her also get a happily ever after!
This book literally was a whirlwind. I was sucked in right from the start!! I literally couldn’t put it down and wanted to know what was going to happen next. SM Shade with her cliffy ending HOLY S**T!!! I NEED the next book like ASAP. You are literally left on the edge of you seat and asking so many what if questions. The fact that Axton just up and changes his life at a moments notice makes him an amazing man, bringing Naomi into his life as well was a big deal. Big events make HUGE impacts on all their lives and bring craziness as well. Another amazing read by SM Shade!
*WARNING* contains explicit sexual content and crude language
This story leads us to believe there are some ugly secrets in Axton’s past, but doesn’t go into detail. It lightly touches on domestic violence, so if that’s a problem for you, be aware. The character growth for Axton through this story is not only huge, but is also beautiful. I only hope the plot twist toward the end doesn’t mess everything up.
